I recently purchased an XFX Radeon R9 280X. So far I can not find a working driver except for the one that comes with the card but that driver is not functional for me because it won't allow me to play any of my video games. So far I've tried AMD Auto Detect, getting previous drivers (14.7 instead of the current 14.9), and trying to find the files online but all point back to the AMD download which doesn't work. When I try to install them it spends 3 minutes trying to install the driver then just skips it and tells me it failed to install. I've spent about two days trying different things to no avail. Any ideas?

I figured it out. I got a CRC Error and did some research. Part of the OS was corrupt/damaged so I just did a complete fresh install again and everything is installing fine.
Thanks for all the help, I learned a couple of things through your recommendations.
Sorry for the needless hassal when it had such an easy solution.

DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled
DxDiag Version: 6.01.7601.17514 64bit Unicode
I tried to find all my motherboard drivers for this model and I think I did but I'll check again.
As for Device manager, it doesn't say anything is out of date or missing a driver. I checked that right after it happened to see if Windows could find a driver for me. I haven't found the IDE Controller in the message; I have an AX16IRL1 IDE Controller Driver but not the one on the notice. I looked at my MOBO drivers and there isn't a single one that has to do with Mass storage, only ethernet, RAID, and USB updates. Nothing useful.

So Essentially, Diablo III is the game I was referring to in particular. When I try to open battle.net the box "opens" but stays translucent until it turns back and stops working. The best I can say is it puts a windows compatibility link on my desktop when I try to run it that tells me Storage controllers: A7SYV0F6 IDE Controller is out of date and isn't compatible.
When I was running my windows updates to make sure I had all of them (thinking that was the problem) it did give me a window saying after the update some things may not work properly but I don't remember which of the 180 updates it was that said that and/or what program is was referring to.
I'm pretty sure it is, previously I was using an HD Radeon 5870 without a whole lot of trouble. I just wanted an upgrade because stable drivers were hard to come by since they stopped coming out with them. The ones from AMD wouldn't allow me to watch anything with a certain type of flash player on it or it would BSOD.
Yeah, I have an AMDcleansweep utility that removes all graphics drivers and components previously installed.

I would first try deleting every Radeon driver on your computer. Even if you have to clean them out manually one by one and check for them and delete them in programs, the C drive, your desktop, downloads, wherever they may be on your system. I would then reboot your system just to start you off on a clean slate. Then, I would try installing the latest stable driver again. Radeon often won't let other drivers install if it detects other Radeon drivers on it. Hope that helps.
