r9 295x2 questions
Hello, I am thinking of buying a SAPPHIRE R9 295x2 card but have a couple questions before I do.

I am currently using a i7 980 3.3ghz cpu (not the xtreme version) and wondering how bad the card would be bottlenecked by that? Still worth getting?

Also would this power supply do the job? http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681...

Thanks a lot.

The i7 4790k will push that card in any game. The i5 4690k will also, both turbo to ~4Ghz. The 4790k boosts to an insane 4.4Ghz. Any modern CPU (any high end i5 or i7 in the 3 or 4 series) will not bottleneck badly, but games like BF4 and Planetside 2 hammer the CPU so you might want to overclock.

TL;DR The 4690k or 4790k will do the job well.

Thanks for the reply. Not really looking forward to getting a new motherboard haha. But you think the 4.0ghz haswell would be a good match for this card?

That PSU should power it, but I am not 100% sure. The CPU would bottleneck pretty badly, you would need to overclock it. A 4.0Ghz Haswell CPU is about the same as a 4.8Ghz Nehalem CPU if I am correct. I would upgrade the CPU if you can.
