Hi,
Specs that matter:
02G-P4-3769-KB EVGA GTX 760 SC 2GB (x1)
ASUS Z97 WS
Intel i7 4790K
Mushkin Redline 16GB
LG 34UM95-P 34" Widescreen monitor
I'm wondering if it would be worth saving the money and going GTX 760 SLI over a new single GTX 980 @ $550+. They do only have 2GB. If the performance is close and I won't have stutter due to lack of GPU memory I would rather save the cash. They would both run at full 16 speed lanes not the 8 if it helps a pinch, unsure. I can save myself $250-300.... don't want terrible frame rates though. Crazy but the power bill looks to be less, a little less, than running the single GTX 980.
Basicly......2x GeForce GTX 760 compared to 1x GeForce GTX 980.
Worth the $250 to $300 extra?

Thank you.
I bought an EVGA GTX 970 SSC and I expect to close the speed gap on the Champ (980) to only a 6% difference.
6% for another $250? No way.
Patience and I'll get a second card cheap as $250 or so to SLI in the future but I really shouldn't need it.
Now to peddle off my old gear.
Is the only market for old Performance gear for the lab testers? Its another subject but I have so much great Old gear I don't use. Never sold it!
The website lag on Newegg is CRAZY bad while people frenzy shop and I just barely got that card. I did pay a little more at $370 but for availability it's just fine.

All I can say is that it will do a lot better than your GTX 760 would.
Here is a link comparing GTX 970 and GTX 980: [link]

Also, if you were planning to get GTX 980, you can get the GTX 970 in SLI for just a hundred dollars more. It would blow the GTX 980 out of the water.

Can the GTX970 handle my resolution on Ultra settings in games and maintain 47-60 frame rates? I'm reading up and trying to catch up on this tech.
What are the major differences between the 970 and 980? 10% less speed?
I can still sell the 760 for $145 so I better get on it.
Just need to know if the 970 can happily push the 3440x1400 at great frame rates.
