Processor holding back my PC?
So i bought a sorta starting gaming PC last year and i replaced the graphics card and PSU which pretty much fixed all the lag on most games but when it comes to more processor intensive games such as Dayz SA or Dayz the mod, i get alot of lag no matter what settings which is really annoying. So i was wondering if anyone knew the problem, thanks!

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz
GPU: Radeon 7790 2GB

Depends on the motherboard you have as to whether you can put a FX 8 core safely on it.

There's plenty to choose from for a graphics card though. But it's gotta fit in your case and your power supply needs to be able to run it reliably.

Post your complete and detailed build.

Got an upgrade budget in mind?

Mobo: MSI 760GM-P34
CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon 7790 2GB OC Edition http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspxItem=N82E1681...
PSU: CS650M 650W ATX12V v2.4
Case: Raidmax Viper Gaming Case

And i could probably put about 600 into it but if that's not enough I could throw in a few extra hundred np.

That mobo is crap. It has slapped on support for FX cpu's in the bios. But it has no real hardware support for them. The only true boards that support FX cpu's are 970 and 990 chipsets.

this is assuming you already have 2 sticks of 4gb ram in your current build. the gtx970 might be more power than you really need. in that case waiting for the soon to be released gtx960/960ti for $250 would better serve you.

dayz is a horribly coded mess, dont expect it to perform flawlessly, even on an ultra powerful gtx970.

although the cs650m isn't the best power supply, its far from a bad power supply. long story short, its fine. otherwise if your really had to, look no further than only power supply worth mentioning.

CS is tier 3 - no good. That's why I suggested the Supernova.

And a MSI R9 270X.

The 8 core allows you to play high end games. the 6300 won't.

He's good on the PSU. I know it isn't quite as good as others in its price range but it's plenty good enough for single GPU gaming. I agree with the GPU. I think he would benefit a lot by having a better one. I recommend an R9 270 or higher for AMD and a GTX 760 or higher from Nvidia.

I got the 4670K because it's the exact same price as the non-k version and the 4670k insures compatibility with this cheap motherboard.

I'd get a better CPU, Mobo, PSU and GPU. So only keep your case and I gather you have an OS you can use.

I would never advise going from an FX 6300 to an FX 8320 because the gaming performance would still be the same. Really maybe even better on the FX 6300 due to the higher turbo core speed. it's a side-grade. Also that motherboard is horrible for an FX 8 core CPU because it just has a 4+1 phase power design. There's no overclocking on that thing.
