2x r9 270 vs r9 280x
would r9 270 in crossfire be better than buying a single r9 280x card?

Glad to hear it all worked out ok! 8)

I'm waiting on a particular 980 to come in stock here, keeps being 'overdue' or 'expected today',
most annoying.

obviously the 780ti will be faster but that'll cost more, you can oc a gtx970 and bring it within 3% of a stock 780ti performance.

A GTX 970 will be fine with ultra 1080p with most upcoming games.

why not just go with a gtx970 and save yourself from microstuttering?

It'll likely be faster, but probably use more power overall. Not sure about noise & heat,
best check reviews of both.

3dmark.com should have data for comparison purposes, plus the usual reviews.
