M5A97 Pro not Posting, VGA Not Detected
I went to turn on my pc this morning and it started at first but then cut off and had the smell of smoke. I tried restarting it but when I did so I got the VGA Led staying on and the post code of 1 Long and 3 Short which I think indicates no Vga Detected

The GPU is seated in the first PCI-E slot and has all the power connectors fitted correctly. I have tried it in the other PCI-E slot but still get the same results. All the fans and lights are working on the GPU

I have removed the CMOS battery and reseated it I reset it but again nothing happens

Would this indicate a dead GPU or a motherboard issues

Any help appreciated thanks

Memok is located next to 24-pin socket of the motherboard.

The problem is your board doesn't any vga port and cpu doesn't graphic process.

I don't have access to either a spare GPU or motherboard to test it in. Where would the memok be, I can't seem to locate it on my board

Yes you can suspect it is either motherboard or graphics card. You can check you board if you can borrow graphics card from other pc.
Have you tried pressing memok? Turn on pc, press memok until it reboot.
