Upgrade Graphics From GTx480
Im a long time follower of this site but my first post ever..
Anyway This is My Rig.
AMD FX-8350 @ 4.7Ghz
Gigabyte 970a-UD3
8GB Kingston-1600 RAM
600W CM PSU
GTX480-1.5GB----DEAD----

The Thing is that the GTX480 died after 4 years of Awesome USage..and im currently running off the gt610..
And i want to upgrade to a GPU which would give me a better perfomance than my old card..
Budget varies cause i live in India and prices are generally 50USD higher here..

Would a GTX760 be fine?I mean is it worth Today?

BTW monitor is 1920*1080

If you want a R9 280 you can have it a bit cheaper

edit: The GTX 960 will probably be massively overpriced for you considering its new and from Nvidia

GTX 480 is a fast card , so if you want the upgrade to be worth , you should go for R9 280 at least

GTX 750 ti - 5620 points
GTX 480 - 5760 points
R7 270X - 8550 points
R9 280 - about 10000 points
GTX 970 - 15690

Sapphire R9 280 would be fine

Edit :
Since your card is not bad , you might wait

If you have access to Flipkart, this Sapphire HD 7950 Boost is great for only Rs 17,700/$290

I'm using a 7950 Boost myself and easily overclocks to reach 7970 performance.

def go with the gtx 970 if you can. Its a few dollars more, but well worth it as maxwell is the biggest improvement as far as price per dollar performance is concerned. It has the added bonus of 4gb of ram which all the latest games will be utilizing...so you will be set for a few years. Better to pay $350 now once then keep buying cheap $200 cards every year just to keep up to date with gaming tech.

OP is in India and he said the GTX 970 is $430 there.
