Upgrading HDD without cloning
Hi, so i built a pc a while ago, but my hdd is failing and i need to upgrade it, but since i dont have anything important, i dont really want to clone it (All the important things including OS are in my boot SSD). So since i dont want to clone it (because the read and write speeds are insanely low now), can i just do this:
1. turn off pc
2. unplug hdd and plug new one in
3. set up new hdd

Is it that easy? or am i missing anything? thanks

Any programs you have which are installed to the old disk will complain. I would recommend going through and uninstalling anything which has been installed to the old drive. Then do the steps you describe.

As long as your OS wasn't installed with both drives in the computer, what you are saying will work perfect.
