Overclocking a GTX 970
Hi all,

I'm totally new to overclocking and tried to overclock my GTX 970 G1 (Gibabyte). I added 140Mhz to the core clock by increments of 10 to 20Mhz till I saw artefacts, then I went back to +130Mhz. Everything seems OK (temp not over 63°, no artefact, no crash, and a boost of +3 to 4 average FPS in Unigine Heaven). I didn't touch the voltage because it scares me hehe. My question is: Is this type of overclock "safe" and can I keep using it or will it reduce the card lifespan on the long haul?

Thanks a lot!

The only ones that matter are the ones you are concerned about. I'm older and crankier than you so I may get more upset about seeing something than you would, then again since I'm older I might not see it or sleep thru it :)

OK thanks a lot!

Quick questions about artefacts: Are they really visible, or should I be on the lookout for very small artefacts? The only ones I saw (or believed I saw) at +140MHz were really "fleeting".

Thanks again (and sorry for those noob questions)
