Sorry, but the Extreme 970 BLOWS AWAY the Strix 970 in every respect. No coil whine, better cooling, better components, better design, better everything. Erm...except for size and weight but what do you want with a 3 fan cooler+backplate lol.

It also has 2 8 pin connectors whereas every other 970 has 6 and 8, or sometime on the low end cards even just a single connector. It has an active monitoring device that plugs into a USB port for use with Firestorm.

Since Kevin has taken over Zotac NA, the customer service has been excellent. I actually called Zotac to research the card before i bought it and not only did i not wait on hold for half an hour(galaxy and asus), my call was taken immediately. I talked with 2 people there, and Kevin called me back TWICE with answers to my questions. You are just NOT going to get that level of service with anyone else.

Simply put, the 970 Zotac Extreme is the best 970 out there currently, including the Sapphire one. The only 2 downsides are that you need both versions of Firestorms software, the orange and the blue to currently make everything work correctly. Its not for a PC nub thats for sure, but then again, youre not going to be getting one of these cards unless you know what you are doing. The 2nd downside is that the cards fans are locked at a bios level of 43% minimum spin, but they *are* silent when doing so. Get this card if you are ever planning on using the new Corsair HG10..Kevin specifically requested one from Corsair based on our conversation to make sure that it would work with this card when its released!

The Asus Strix is very good...just bought mine a few days ago. Definitely would recommend it.

Zotac is not new really, just ignored.
Either are good choices but go with the one you like best aesthetically. I believe only the ASUS one can have fans off with low loads/temperatures whilst the Zotac has an OC module that you can connect to a USB 2.0 header for more monitoring features.

well performance wise both are similar
however Asus is the more trusted brand among the two
Zotac is relatively new to the market
get the asus unless you getting a very good deal on the zotac
which i doubt is going to happen
get the asus
