CHKDSK errors - where do I start?
Hey guys, I'm getting the occasional reboot and CHKDSK error on my home build that's been up and running for a few months. Hoping it's not the hard drive failing, but fearing it is. It will be the third on this build that's gone kaput.

I've done some searches, but I'm not sure where to start, and hoping someone will point me in a direction of what I can do to try and track down what exactly is causing the problem.

Not sure what might be helpful here, but some specifics on my build:

AMD FX 6300 Six-Core Processor 3.50 GHz
8GB RAM
Windows 7 Professional
64 bit

Hard drive is a 2TB Seagate Barracuda, Serial ATA

Let me know if there's anything else I need to add, thanks.

Crystaldiskinfo might give you some ideas. Crystaldiskmark too, is a good app. Both are free downloads.

if the pc is shutting off and turning back on then your looking at a power issue. if the power supply voltage is to low or to high it can cause hard drives to crash or burn them out. what the model and wattage of the unit in your rig.
