I have a PC, 360 , and a Wii. i buy certain games for each. problem solved :)
Wii = Fun silly games (ex: boomblox)
360 = Racing, exclusives (like Viva pinata), RPG (like Fable2), etc
PC= FPS - UT3, COD4, etc

sometimes I will buy a game for the 360 because it will run it flawlessly whereas the pc takes patches, tweaking, adjusting, etc...

Hellboy obviously has not listened at all.

Online distribution and sales. Plenty of game availabilty and sales are being had. If you just look online instead of in your one gaming shop of choice we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

Yeah piracy is bad but it is not even the biggest force behind the problem you are seeing. Get over it.

I will say the biggest reason you don't see pc games retail, is because the general public still doesn't understand system requirements. Game manufacturers expect the public to relate there hardware with older hardware to determine if the game will run or not. i.e. (requires ati x800 or nvdia 6600 or better to run.) What good is that if they haven't followed GPU there whole lives? And of course there are alot of people that simply assume that their 1000 dollar HP should be able to play a game cuz it's new and expensive.

What makes it worse is that software has a no refund if opened policy. So you get alot of upset people at customer service who proll will not shop at that store again.

So hellboy you should start buying from steam if you can. or amazon is actually a good place to find software titles if you don't mind waiting.

I own a PS3, PSP & PC. Although I must admit that I have noticed a significant drop in PC games in any of the stores near me in the last couple of years however I dont think that PC gaming can be called Pathetic because of this; the fact is that rather than shipping massive ammounts of hard copies of the games, I've noticed that many companies have turned heavily toward digital distribution (i.e. Steam).

However, to say that PC gaming is now pathetic? I believe thats pretty extreme.

O' praise the one who knows all that goes..

Who cares about online sales..

I want a box with a disk with a code with a manual. Ordered online through one of the many stores...

But I look at the boxes and if the price is right I buy it. OK.

Get it...

Right

now wind yah neck in and listen that there are not many new downloadable games full stop only re-releases, or Indy titles - which yes some are good but most are crap..

Steam is the only true online downloadable service that works really does work... I have got all the Valve stuff available...

EA Store is **** even when you buy a game it needs game spy comrad to authenticate it..

Havent tried direct to drive but then again thats 6 quid a month every month which is 72 a year for old games..

Dont go on about how you think that is the way forward especially when cd wow sells the same game for £15 cheaper than ea online.

Oh and yes actually piracy is the main reason people are leaving the pc... Consoles are harder to pirate for... I know..

So go and copy some games somewhere from a torrent site.

Pathetic is another meaning for in a sad state..

Yes PC gaming is in a sad state... Mainly down to greed... ( Or lack of paying for it. )

You still get a box and manual if you buy online. Online purchasing doesn't necessarilly mean digital distribution!

You might want to try out this little-known website called Amazon...

Ok let me word that a bit differently - when I meant online, I meant through Steam, ea downloader etc...

I do know of Amazon and have used Amazon since they first came out so for me to not know about it is to forget about Jeff Minter..

I also know if CDWOW, HMV online and many others just to let you know that im not there in the mushroom factor...

Its pathetic because there are an amount of people who only buy from the shops...

Ok you go in to a candy shop and buy the candy that catches your eye..

I go in to a shop, look at the game section and see what catches my eye..

Now its full of console titles and nothing else.... and nothing catches my eye..

Im now resorted to wait as apposed to impulsed buying..

Implused buying works for some people...

Now thats sad...

I dont agree.

PC gaming is more of an officianado hobby. Sure console games are less of a hassle, but the depth and amount of extra effort that goes into pc games raise the bar over consoles.
You'd think that console games are making more money $5 to $1? or something like that. Did anyone consider the amount spent on PC hardware? The truth is, the hardore game developer would rather spend their time on a pc game than a console, but to then see it sell for $10 at Walmart is a little self defeating. PC game developers will always make quality pc games because the PC platform offers much more in the way of creative freedom. I have yet to buy a console.

The pc platform is hardly pathetic.

Firstly, am not a console fanboy. I play PC games, and am building a new rig as we speak, with a q6600, HD4870, 4GB RAM. but i've seen all bencmarks get barely acceptable framerates with all the bells and whistles in crysis with things like DDR3 RAM, HD4870x2 (£300 thank you) and an x6800. the fact is, that the console is still playing the game at the developers best settings with no problems, or driver issues, or hardware conflicts and without the need to upgrade, ever!
"For about 1500 you can get a complete rig monitor mouse keys etc... and a computer that should run crysis at a high res with
few problems!"
my point exactly again. u need to spend £1500 for a decent set up to play crysis. £300 will get ut a PS3, and everyone has a TV already.

I don't. Well I have and old CRT with max 720x564 res. So its not usable for any form of gaming. Which means if I'd wanna play PS3/Xbox, the cost would be around £1300, which I am not willing to fork out for a thing that can only run games.

Stop press

Just read a review on Far Cry 2 and it looks just amazing... This could be the game of the year.. If this proves to be true and it could redeem all what i said as if one game can last over 3 months as apposed to 1 hour on a xbox then the pc starts comming back

Stop press no.2

Starwars Force Unleashed - is crap i got it yesterday and its like iron man..
no point what so ever - for 10 year olds...

Shallow game play and no point what so ever - another Starwars Waste...

The good PC games are just few and far between, I'm a FPS fan and I'd like to see a PC game that could give you the experience the old Atari Jaguar 64bit delivered in Aliens VS Predator!

The game engine somehow changed or cycled so that you never knew what to expect, you could enter a room and it contain 1 alien, the next time you enter the same room it may have 1 alien or 2, 3, or 4, or none, you never knew what was around the next corner and never could drop your guard.

So every time you played the game was like the first time, it was great!

The games like Crysis and FarCry are great IMO but they could leave out the SciFi factors and finish the game like they started it out and it would be great, the suit in Crysis is half the game, if you don't learn what you can do with the suit you really lose half of the game right there.

I remember when FarCry was first released it was kicking machines in the dirt just like Crysis is today, I'm looking forward to the day we have hardware that can run Crysis maxxed out completely.

Crysis Warhead has some new weapons, but I hate the parts where you go through major changes and your weapons are gone and you have to start over gathering weapons again, that sucks, I don't know why designers think thats a good thing to do to you, in the middle of a game, its like they went mind blank in their designing or something!

FarCry 2 is almost upon us and it looks promising, I hope it is!

Game On Guys! Ryan

I want eye candy and substance. Don't really care what it costs. I'll never buy a console, I'll just give up playing games on a PC.

As for those that steal/pirate software, I just hope I catch you because I WILL torture you - guaranteed. If you don't have the money, well too bad, go play with yourself.

But what do you expect, education is on the down, most youths believe life owes them something, and those that don't just wanna randomly destroy whatever they can under some crusade of "being different".

And don't get me started on the gang banger wanna be -- with the thumbing rap music, the gold chains, and the big baggy pants down to their knees with the butt cracks showing. Yeah, what a great F'in society we have in the US. Lots of really stupid people play really stupid games on consoles and then the really stupid idiots pirating games on the PC.

And then we wonder why so few good games are being made for the PC...

Get a clue people.

NO blame the retards that use Torrents, that setup Torrents, that just don't give a rats ass because they are pretty much useless blob infecting society. They have no drive, no intelligence (primarily because they're just too lazy to read), and basically want to bring down as much as possible because their life is miserable and it's miserable because they can't figure out how to make it better.

everyone seems to be trying to make their own WOW with out thinking, if most of the pc gamers already have WOW and are paying a arm and a leg every month to keep their WOW subscription, what makes you think that they will spend their other arm and leg on your MMO when they already have WOW

this causes poor sales and game developers will blame it on things like piracy

all crappy games that barely sold any copies had developers that cried about piracy

if piracy was the cause of poor sales then hellgate London should have sold the same number of copies as call of duty 4

When did 15 dollars become an arm and a leg???

15 dollars is like... not buying 3-4 coffees a month.

Honestly..
