well, the RRoD is less common now due to new parts and better cooling performance being fitted so I don't see no reason to go for the Xbox 360 and there is a new dashboard coming out in 2weeks. The internet service isn't that dear, only 40GBP a year, or around 30 on eBay lol :D
http://www.xbox.com/en-us/live/nxe/ << Check that out

I just don't like the PS3, it's ugly, overpriced and... the online is laggy and I just don't like the interface and the controllers etc. That's why I sold it. I love the 360, it's just so pro and badboy looking :D And you can fully customise the dashboard...!

This new update is going to be amazing.! anyone going to second me on this????

You're crazy; if the 360's interface was so good they wouldn't be completely scrapping it in 9 days. Also, you say "fully customize* the dashboard" but only if you're willing to pay for one or use a free game related theme. You do realize that you can CREATE your own themes, replace icons, and use other sounds in the PS3's interface, right?

Grant1872x wrote :

Extremely nitpicking, does it matter if Xbox uses a wireless signal rather than bluetooth? and you can use Xbox 360 controllers on PC too, although you need to buy the adaptor, I think you're scraping at excuses hear :( being a huge fan of the PS3, you're using anything to put the 360 down :pt1cable:

You're entitled to your opinion though :)

I own both systems, and it's nice being able to use ANY bluetooth device with the PS3 instead of first party accessories that cost a lot more from Microsoft. I use a bluetooth keyboard, and headset with my PS3 that my 360 does not support. I know I could buy the adapter for the 360 to use the controller on the PC, but I've already paid $50 for the controller, and an additional $15 for each play and charge kit. I don't know why you're debating; I still like my 360 and have been playing it a lot since Gears 2 came out on Friday. There are some things the 360 does better than the PS3 such as game invites and cross-game private voice chat. I'm looking forward to the NXE so I won't have to hear the disc drive any more as it produces the majority of the console's noise. Even with the update it won't be as quiet as my PS3, but any improvement is more than welcome.

So the PS3 is better because Polyphony Digital linked 4 of them together to play a higher resolution version of Gran Turismo 5? :sarcastic:

Reply to Heyyou27

get any of them... depends on the game... graphics are almost the same.. i own both and i can barely tell the difference... they are both great depends majorly on the games u want to play...
none of them matches my pc though :)

Well I currently OWN both and will give you a few things to look towards.

PS3 I use mainly for BluRay, MLB the Show (not made for xbox)
yes the PS3 Online is for Free...which is why it does NOT run as well as XBOX's service. Hands down it's not the same. The AUDIO chatting is HORRENDOUS!

Metal Gear Solid looks great.

XBOX360 elite is the one i have (black one) with HDMI...

yes you have to pay for the online service but you get what you pay for. It is a greater experience to play a game with full enjoyment and when your able to play games like call of duty and everyone has a mic and can communicate during the game it's very nice.

Finding friends, Joining with your friends games is so much better for the Xbox.

I played a few games and I will say that from my own experience and my own hardware I have Madden 09 by far is better for xbox just overall look of the character models are sharper and whatnot.

Call of duty Modern warfare looked better to me on PS3, but the controls felt smoother on the XBOX.

Each system has it's own little pro's and con's.

Their both great and I enjoy both of them. When it comes to a game that uses a lot of communication such as Rainbow 6, call of duty etc.. XBOX is the way I go.

Gears of WAR, HALO... im not a fan of these games, clearly a ton of people are so that's another reason more people like xbox.

Most of the games, in fact all of the games I usually like are made for both systems except the baseball game.

one last note.. Games are 60$... it costs 50$ for the entire YEAR for the online service, that is seriously not a lot of money people.

I hope that helps your decision.

one system comes with a bluray player. and one doesn't... hence the price difference. So yes you get what your paying for. You want a system that also includes a bluray player then you are gonna pay the extra bucks for it.

is it better cause it's more... no, but i was referring to the online service subscription when i made that comment.

ps3 online service is free and audio is terrible and so are the friend invites and whatnot.
xbox is 50$ a year, excellent friend chat integration imo.... so yes you get what you pay for... a better service.

As an avid online PS3 users, I have no idea what you are talking about... when people use headsets that aren't piles of **** they paid 10$ for at Zellers, the audio is fine. The friends list is also smooth and easy to navigate.

I enjoy my ps3 a lot better. Browser support, Blu-Ray, HD playback and upconvert, large 160 gb HD, plus Wi-Fi

Reply to darkside_gamer7

The only real advantage of the PS3 is the integrated wifi, which was stupid of MS to try and make you buy a 100$ propriety one. The 360 has superior games, better graphics in general (unless a game is made soley for the PS3, but then chances are it won't be that great). There are some exceptions, but as a whole games run better on the 360 and look better. With the NXE, things get even better. He was considering the elite, which has a 120 gig HD. That's all you'll ever need on a 360. Some will argue that the PS3 has a bigger one, but that's because it NEEDS a bigger one because it installs games on the HD, taking up a lot of space. The 360 you can choose to just install your favortites to reduce the noise.

Ok its not made to reduce noise its made to reduce load times... lol

And PS3 and 360 are pretty much on par for graphics in this day of age seeing as every1 has Sony's Developement kit. People that Have IGn Insiders, they can see the Head to head reviews, and ps3 has been winning lately.

No1 mentioned the potential of Ps3 actually having a MGS game because of Blueray.

A 50 gig disk means uncompressed audio, Uncompressed textures and can mean longer and more detailed games in the future.

Ps3 has linux potential, it actually is meant to support it.

Although I have a ps3 and Xbox 360, I would only recommend a 360 if your doing the firmware crack.

360 games MOst of the time are either found on ps3 or PC, so your chances of playing the latest games with out getting all consoles, is getting ps3 and PC:)

PS3's Hard drive can be changed by the use with out voiding warranty, I currently have 320 gig 7200 RPM.

Though be warned the 360 does get alot of Bluescreens, and even though the newer models are less, Microsoft still hasn't pulled through in completely abolishing it.

Frankly I would say that ps3 has more potential than the 360, and I personally like my ps3 more than my 360, but I do play mostly on 360 because it has the hacked firmware.

And Xbox live, is really stable, but to be honest I have never experienced lag on my ps3, Which shocked me:)

The superior games theory once again. This is completely based on opinion. At release of the PS3, there was barely any good games(I don't think there even was) but now they are most certainly even. The PS3 just came out with Killzone2, which has fantastic reviews. MGS4 won game of the year for 2008. LittleBigPlanet is childish, bit enjoy the game a lot. I have both the PS3 and the 360. Also, Gears 2 definitely did not live up to the hype it had. It was a great game, but it wasn't amazing. I beat the campaign, played online for a week afterwords then got bored of it. I started playing WarHawk for the PS3 again and with my brand new Dualshock 3 controllers, I enjoyed it even more than I did on day one. As far as graphics goes, most games are ported to the PS3 format from the 360 format.

Reply to Tyor

When developers make a game for the consoles, they support the game more (DLC and such) on the 360. The PS3 has some good exclusives, but to enjoy it you will have to buy multiplatform games eventually which run better and are better supported on the 360, thus meaning you will get an inferior experience on the PS3. I'm not even going to mention the superiority of the 360 exclusives. Who cares if you can put Linux on it or upgrade the HD? It won't make the games better. 120 gig is all you will need for a console HD.

I just said that the ps3 is either on par, or better than 360 ATm, but they exchange blows, lets not forget the red ring of death that still has not been taken care of.

Oh and 1 more thing, Xbox won't be supplying the coffins for free anymore:) So when ever you do get red ring of death you need to ship it and package it yourself.

OH and lets not forget the potential of 50 gig disk VS 8.4 gig Disks:D

I mean you won't get a game that as indepth as MGS 4 on Xbox ...I'm saying ANY, not just MGS, i'm talking about any company that will fill that 50 gigs, which gives them that much head room.

And don't forget that the Developer KIt was minimal at the begining.

Oh yes and most "exclusives" that come out for the xbox, usually get ported to PC, which I prefer playing on PC....Gears of war 1, Lost PLanet.

So you can get the best of both worlds.

Nothing against 360, its just its potential has been met a while ago, you won't be able to get anything else out of it other than exclusives, and they seem to be loosing them bit by bit....Bioshock....it even lost the first Ninja Gaiden, and Tecmo expressed that they preffered the ps3 for the next Ninja Gaiden:)..

So really you should look forward to Xbox 360 2 or 720 or 1080:) because the xbox has lived its life, and has been a very worth opponent:D

Isn't the XBox being replaced? I know Sony already announced the next processor for the PS4, making it sound like they were locking themselves to hardware already.

My PS3's been running for nearly 2 years. I think it's frozen twice for no apparent reason, but otherwise it's only restarted for software updates. Admittedly it's got many more hours running Blu-Ray disks and streaming files from my PC than it does playing games, and more folding than anything, but it's solid.

I keep looking at 360's though... I'm just curious about how close to the end of the product's lifecycle it is.

I am sure it is getting rather close. Sony plans to keep the PlayStation on a ten year cycle, so the PS3 isn't going anywhere for a long time. Just look at the PS2, it is still on the shelves at stores and new games are still coming out for it. Also, from what I understand, developers haven't even gotten used to the PS3 yet so its potential is still yet to be reached.

I agree l1qu1d, the 360 is a great console, but I think its potential is pretty much reached already.

Runs smoother than the 360 (I have both, the PS3 runs smoother, and its not even close)
Generally sharper grapihcs (varies by game)
PS2 support (the "new" 80GB and 40GB has 0 PS2 support, the older model supports 80% of all PS2 games, and older models, like the 60GB, support ALL PS2 games. Ask before you buy, just to make sure).

Disadvantages:
Smaller game library
User interface not as streamlined

you forgot to add that the 360 has no Blue Ray support.... that is a MAJOR PS3 feature.... ;)
