Open Letter to Tom's Games Readers - Page 3

I think everyone has already said it, but I need to do it as well.

Its sad to see that a quality site like Toms Games will turn into just another crap site with, omg, Flash games that will not deliver us anything we couldnt already get from all million++ sites already out there. This was the place to go for the differently written reviews(yes, thats meant in a good way) and the articles that mattered. The quality of the published stuff that excelled business moneyshrewd directors and instead put the material in written for the gamers BY the gamers. A rare quality that unfortunatly becomes even a rarer feature.

Ben, Rob and Travis, youre the best in this genre by far and I sincerely urge you to start up your own site/business and just continue doing what you have done these past years. You are simply astonishing and I would bet my sweet mommys *** that you will make it big, really big.

As for the new and "improved" Toms Games, well... Good luck, you will need it.

Ill leave a crawler attached to the site to search for what you will be up to guys. I hope it picks up something I like in a very very near future!

Congratulations to the ignorants who made this decision. Now I can safely remove any toms links from my bookmarks and never visit the site again. I hope you fail in this site and fail in life. And I hope your children fail while you bare witness to it, leaving all hopes unfulfilled.

I really hope Rob Wright gets back into some type of online video review site/show again. As I truly enjoyed listening to his opinion on things. Rob, the best of luck to you. Ben, same goes to you. I can't imagine you'd be happy loading swf objects all day.

I really wish this was just some sort of bad joke. I'll miss your videos and reviews, I always liked how honest the reviews were. I don't know where I'll go for gaming news now but it would be nice if someone started a new site thats everything Tom's was.

As far as I know, Tom's Hardware will now feature PC gaming news, and Tom's Guide will feature console gaming news. And as for reviews, Tuan is still working on a format that will fit within both sites (from what I am told). I know there are a few of us Tom's Games stragglers throwing up the gaming news when we can (Ryan, Devin, etc), but I think many of us were just as shocked as you about TG going Flash. However I have faith in Tuan, Marcus, Jane and the gang in their attempts to assimilate the TG remnants into Hardware / Guide; they are great, talented people and I just ask that you have a little patience as the whole transition falls into place.

I'm probably overstepping my boundaries by coming out and speaking on the matter, but I felt obligated to at least say something to you, the Dedicated Reader. I hear the complaints and the sorrows and I completely understand. I wish things were different, that TG enters a new year focused on the latest games with news, reviews, feature articles and those great videos from Rob and Ben. Bestofmedia is still approaching the new year with determination by offering you the latest news, features and reviews... just in a different manner.

I really can not believe it! This must be a joke surely. SECOND TAKE was awesome. I loved tuning in each week to Ben and Rob , for some wry humour and a wonderful knowledge and appreciation of gaming. You guys really must start your own website , you are really going to be sorely missed over here in England. Anyway thanks so much for all your hardwork and i wish you the very best for the future. Well Tom's , let us hope you are gonig to keep your other 'star' Chris Angelini' who is doing a terrific job over on hardware. PS.Rob/Ben , if you do carry on doing some video presentation in the future please let us know somehow on this site.Cheers

Yeah, I hate that after Tom's Guides and now Tom's Games I'm no longer going to visit Tom's Hardware. Thank god for Anandtech and [H]. I just refuse to give bestofmedia (which btw only has Tom's... all of their other IP is 100% worthless) any add revenue at all.

The depressing thing is I know the precipitous for all the changes was money. Knowledgeable P.C. users who (used to) frequent Tom's are more likely to be using Firefox/Ad-Blocking Extensions... whereas the 12-year-old tweens who will be visiting the Tom's Adult Games pages are more likely to use I.E. More adds displayed = more revenue for bestofmedia and god knows that after all the changes they will need it.

Farewell Tom's (even hardware)... I will miss you dearly. - To bestofmedia - Your actions are reprehensible. I don't know if that word translates into french will all the negative connotations that it has in English, but I really hope it does. You S_U_C_K.

Go figure somebody breaks away from the joke that is currently running amuck on the internet and turns it into that same garbage for a quick buck. Way to sell out some actual gamers for the casual console crowd that draws in more unique hits. Oh well, I guess it was just too good to last and unfortuneatly the bozos that run the show figured it was a business and saw they could make more money by dumbing content down for the masses.

Won't be coming back here again. Best of luck rob, ben, and travis you guys weren't affraid to be real gamers first instead of pansy ass publisher run marketing monkeys especially Travis having enough balls to call out "exclusive" first domain reviews of hyped up game being released by everyone else on the net.

I was wondering what the hell happened to Tom's Games and to Rob/Ben/Travis/et. al. Much like others have said here I also enjoyed second take and your mature reviews. Reading the stuff you guys wrote made the other sites seem like bad Mountain Dew commercials for the game. Keep us posted on where you guys are off to next!
