I can say I have tried almost every spyware and melware software and most have gave me a problem of some sort but I came across this uniblue software and if you have never tried it I do recommend it. I started with the registry booster. What a difference in performance after I ran the program it also defrags the registry, then i tried the spyware and it is absolutely the top guy for me now, then there is the speedupmypc take a look for yourself it is really a good program/s for spyware. http://www.liutilities.com/

I've heard Uniblue mentioned a few times, so it's probably good stuff. But it's also not free, unless you count a one-time scan designed to convince you to buy the product as being "free".

For me, I've been using AVG (http://free.grisoft.com/) and/or Avast (http://www.avast.com/) for Anti-Virus for years, and both work well. Also, I use Ad-Aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/), Spybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/), and Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html) for Spyware, and have no problems. As far as I'm concerned, 2-3 good free programs are FAR better than a single "commercial" program, no matter how good it is, every...single...time.

I know this thread is quite old but a favourite freeware download site I visit regularly is:

http://www.snapfiles.com/

It does host shareware and pay software but the freeware is freeware. No nags no traps entirely free.

They have their own review, rating and also test the applications for syware. There are user reviews also to better assist with decision making.

You can either cilck on the freeware tab at the top of the page and browse through the categories or you can use the search bar for something more specific and click on the "Search for freeware only" button when prompted.

Yes, the description of it is correct. By the way, you can add GPU-Z, aswell. http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

There is also a application called AMD Overdrive, which can be found here: http://www.amd.com/us-en/0,,3715_1 [...] 59,00.html
I don't know, if it only works for AMD and ATI products or others aswell. I would categorize it as System overview and overclocking. (:

I'd also suggest getting Picasa 3—whether or not you use Picasa now. Picasa's always been a great photo management tool, but 3 has really useful features like a better preview function (works within Windows) and mass-watermarking.

Where is handbrake? :o

http://handbrake.fr/downloads.php

Open source video encoder, only supports newer standards like H.264 and MPEG-4 though. Full multi-threaded so it can use at least 8 threads at 100% load (maybe more, but I can only run 8 anyway).
