They all suck... but Compaq sucks most.

I find it amusing that if you buy a highend Dell you can pay the same amount for an Alienware computer. Now who here would choose Dell over Alienware?

Just so you don't get the wrong picture, I do not buy preconfigured systems, I just make sure I know what is going on.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Well I don't know what an Alienware computer is, so I can't give comments about that statement.

But the thing that surprises me that you can assemble your own PC with almost the same (and often better) configuration as a Dell PC for a price hundreds of $$$ lower then Dell charges for it (atleast this was when I bought my first PC 3 years ago).

Alienware is a company that builds PC for specific uses and optimize any machine you buy from them and give you a custom manual. Alienware computers, along with Falcon Northwest computers have the highest benchmarks you have ever seen for a preconfigured system. But of course you pay for that and it is much more fun to build and optimize your own machine. If you want to look at either of these sites they are:
www.alienware.com
www.falcon-nw.com

the worst computer maker has not been mentioned. acer is by far the worst pc maker i have ever worked with.

how do you shoot the devil in the back? what happens if you miss? -verbal

Reply to jihiggs

And its no coincidence that Acer features heavily in the attractive range of rip-off PCs sold by the king of computer retail, PC World.....

The question is if we can quallify an Apple as a computer or just as a piece of junk  .

Almost seven years since the last post and you offer up that wonderful, not to say incorrect, little insight. You must be very proud.

:kaola: Looks like to me that its a tossup between the Compac & the Toshiba to me. Toshiba makes a lousy :kaola: laptop. At least the older ones had problems with memory slots. I've been there done that. I can't complain about the Emachine's though, I have two in my house & they both are still going strong for now. One of my Emachines is a 633IDS & is no longer a Emachine, its a HP cloned from a bios upgrade & it rocks for small apps. Have one Gateway dual core laptop & it's the best laptop i've ever owned. Ones I am working on are a Gateway server & LOL its sitting in a corner of my shop dead as a rock for now. I think they all have their pros & cons. IBM should be the best since they were the first to come out in the industry. Never owned one though. Just my 2 cents worth. :p

Compaq and Packard Bell create the worst product, but IBM is the worst company. They make great computers, and also great gas chambers! :(

Also, where is Mac? Just because they're becoming more popular lately doesn't mean they're any good. They still suck.
