I got about 300 Kb/s. It is better not to use 6881-6889 because some ISP's limit the bandwith on these ports because they know people are using peer to peer applications on these ports.
Avoid using Zonealarm as a firewall and Symantec as antivirus, because they block connections.

The highest I get when downloading from trackers like Torrentspy or mininova are aroun 500kbs for a well seeded rtorrent. But I know my connection is capable of much higher speeds, when i downloaded Knoppix I was getting about 1.5mbs. Si it really depends more on how many seeds/peers the torrent has then your actual connection speeds. Most broadband connections can do at least 5mbs down but your not likely to find a torrent that will make full use of that bandwith.

Hope you aren't illegaly copying games, thats bad. And you sure shouldn't post such stuff here. You're liable to get killed by a raging drunk with a daikatana. Seriously.

I got 500Kb/sec max on a 4meg connection. By that I mean it stays at 500kb/sec all the way through.

on some sites it can go slightly higher (510-520kb/sec)

Sort of. I've already paid my money to Maxis. When we moved last my deluxe disc slipped out and was stuck on the floorboard of my truck...ruined.

I'm not stealing anything. I'm just fixing my disc. And not that they couldn't give it to me. i've bought every simcity since they first came out and my girlfriend owns every Sims available. She's bought a couple twice. So I think they owe it to me at least once. Next time i'll be more careful.

My current speed is 449Kb/s cruisin right along i'd say.

That's ok in my book then. Gotta say I've done the same, moves always make ya loose something.

I don't really use Bit torrent, too slow.

I'm on news.UsenetServer.com and I get anywhere from 1MB/s to 1.7MB/s.

I can even game and get a ping of around 45-50ms while downloading from multiple connections (thank God for the D-Link DGL-4300).

For those who are wondering I'm on the BETA Bell Sympatico Optimax ADSL2+ Project in Ottawa, Canada. It's a 16Mbps line down and 1Mbps up with no cap. Apparently it will launch as a 10Mbps and a 16Mbps line sometime near the end of 2007 with a cap of 50GB&75GB respectively/month.

But again.. Bit Torrent is slow for me.

408kbps! That was a GOOD day (though not for my share ratio)

Thinking ... BSOD. I should start using linux

That's one of the funnier things I've heard in a while. Slow downloads with a fast PC....hum

You could get 100mb downloads with a Pentium II 400, even less. Processor and RAM have nothing at all to do with it.

Some torrents don't download fast, period. If you can get 600k downloads off other sites, download.com for example, your connection is fine and you might need to tweak your torrent app. And if speakeasy shows what your speed is advertised as, your connection is fine. Some ISP's will also limit downloads of p2p, ask them and they probably won't tell you either :)

8mb speeds, my cable modem for example, will get 1MB download speeds, I average 800-1200k at some sites, never a torrent though.

In my PC Bitcomet consumes sometimes 64mb ram, the faster your connection and the more torrent downloaded the more ram consumes,I think. :?

I'm using Bittorrent and Bitcomet. Could you, specifically, tell me how to tweak these apps to yeild the highest speed? I'm a BIG newbie when it comes to torrents to please. Be specific if you dont mind. I'd appreciate it.
Thank in advance
Btw, I'm using Adelphia High Speed Cable internet. I turned off all the other slow downloads and it's cruisin along at 50Kb/s. Oh wait it just slowly climbed to 75kb/s. I love tweaking things for speed. If there's an article about this i'd LOVE to read it.

I have gotten a little over 1MB a second..... sometimes it will spike higher but not much maybe 1.2-1.5. I say thats not too bad for 40$ a month :P

My average I would have to say is around 700KB's but if a torrent is poorly seeded then of course ones speed would be lower lol

Hey guys I'm overseas in Hong Kong what would be the best torrent for me? I have 10 MB Cable when I'm D/L well seeded songs I'll sometimes get up to 80-100 KB at best and right now I'm d/l some poorly seeded games and am getting 1-11 KB which is terrible(I'm using a different torrent usually for Songs I use Limeiwre but it didn't have the game I was looking for). What Torrent would you suggest?

I used uTorrent and it's good, but now I'm using Bitcomet that I feel better. 8)

I have used Azureus and it's good but, it uses java so more ram(and you have to download java(15,74MB) if you don't have it already) so if you are short of ram could be a little problem.

I think I broke 600 KBps once. Several other times I've had 500-550. I use BitTornado, though occasionally I use Shareaza when BitTornado bitches about an invalid filename (once in a while downloading raw anime).

I'm on Shaw basic high speed cable, the line is (capable of more but capped at) 5Mbit down/512Kbit up, so that's pretty close to as good as it gets, which would be somewhere in the 650KBps range, theoretically.

For $10 CDN more, I could upgrade to the "extreme" package, 10Mbit down/1Mbit up. for $50 CDN more than that, I could have the "nitro"
