Yes you can OC' with the stock Retail Fan... With the lower clock speed....the retail fan has allowed oc'ing into the 3.**'speeds.
I still want to go with water cooling though....something like the coolermaster aquagate r120 for simplicity.
Yaa, B4 I go water cooling my new system lets see how it turns out in the next two weeks cuz I know that all of my parts will be trickling in for this long, and that is if non-of the three vendors aren't full-o-crap on their delivery times including Tiger.com.
ooo...I hope you are sitting down for this. I'll tell you what just recently happened to me with them.
On the 9th, I saw that they had the E6600 on backorder at a pretty good price so I called their sales department and the salesperson told me that they had stock coming in on the 11th and that was when my proc would be shipped. I thought that that would be fine so I ordered the proc and waited. On the 10th, as I was scanning through various posts here at TOM's when I came across a few that told of horror stories in dealing with Tigerdirect. So, naturally, I was a little concerned and called them. The next salesperson I spoke to said that the stock would be coming in the next day. I said "ok".
On the 11th I was still a bit unnerved about them so I called again and the salesperson I spoke to said that ALL their stock of E6600s and E6700s were sold out and that they will be getting a shipment in in about 3 weeks. Well, naturally, I was disgusted. To further enhance my already wonderful mood they said that as of the 9th they had a que of something like 150+ orders for the E6600 and were only getting in 50.
I hung up on the guy.
I called back shortly thereafter and the salesperson I spoke to (a different one) pretty much confirmed what the previous one had told me - that they were "possibly" getting in 50 E6600s sometime around the 28th but he couldn't confirm it. He told me of their que for preorders and it had grown since I last spoke to someone there.
Needless to say, I cancelled my order with them.
Their site is not truthful about their stock - not for the OEM or Retail box versions of the E6600 or E6700. They don't have any stock and couldn't confirm to me when they would be getting any. The earliest would be, though, at the end of the month and even then no one would confirm that for me.
My point is that they are less than credible with their information and, after that recent experience, I would never do business with them again.
I guess I got lucky. I ordered my E6600 from Tiger Direct on 8/8, even though it said they were out of stock. It shipped on the 12th and I have it in my hands today. 8)
Well, after going into panik mode I pulled myself together. I called Tiger back three separate times, I got names & confirmations from three individuals that they were in stock. I just received a confirmation via e-mail while i was speaking to the 3rd person that both my case & CPU are being shipped with UPS tracking #'s. Lets see how REAL this is.
I even went as far as getting the president of TigerDirect's name incase I need to go to that extreme. Trust me I know about shady companies, I work for one of the biggest, but lets keep that a secret. Only time will tell.
seems like everything is oin good, i got my e6400 from a online shop that is soooo goood, in less then 24 hours i had it, and ill will sure be buying stuff from there again, i mean less then 24hours to get it to me and im 400km from the capital city its.
Cool beans dude.
Well, just got the confirmation from UPS that it's been handed to their ground support unit. Woo-hoo!!! It should be here by Monday, Tuesday the latest!!! Yeah, baby.
"Ahh-hemmm." Pardon my childish behavior, Ladies & Gents...but it' been over two years since there were any significant upgrades happening under this household.
ive got the DQ6 and is really great, silent, great over clocker and the bios is feature packed and everything is high quality, and it comes with 4x external sata 2 things and all that jazz, the litter higher cost is worth it PLUS it supports 4core cpus coming out start of next year with is the biggest bonus, not to mention the onboard sound is the thing i was mostly inpressed with, just as good as ne soundcard, not a single trace of noise. if u have the money go for it, only down size is no Crossfire, but with duel core gfx cards coming to market thats not a big concern really.
Just my $.02 - I have been a faithful customer of Tigerdirect (and most of my family as well) for the past 4+ years. Never had an issue with any purchase from them.
I think the current disparity with reference to the Conroe chips comes from extreme market demand and unknown shipping conditions from manufacturing plants. I found it amazing they had the chips at all, as they are not a typical distributor for new releases - just overstock, clearance, or refurbished items.
As we see above - some did order from Tiger and got their parts as ordered. Others could not wait for the next shipment (not knocking on you, I fully understand wanting it "now" as big as the hype is).
That being said, I just wish Newegg would pick them up, as I am buying the rest of my system through them. I have found that when you want the highest quality items, Newegg comes through more often than Tiger - who deals (primarily) in overstock or refurbished items.

And here is where I ordered my E6600 from -
www.magnum-pc.com Currently sold out, but was purchased for $325 - OEM. $335 for Retail version was there as well.
I have to agree i have been ordering from tigerdirect for last few months for all the new cpu upgrades. Never had any problems, all orders came ontime in good shape and all the tracking info was great.
That's good to here. I was biting my nails down to the Knubb after Phreejak, freaked me out.
"Knocking on wood" ...
Today I received the stuff I ordered tuesday from Newegg.com, Buy.com & ZipZoomFly.com. They were all faster than I had anticipated. The only thing now is the 6600 CPU or as some have said before, "PCU", & the ATX case from TigerDirect.com. Lets see how they do.
I had some local shop that I had asked a week ago for pricing & they called me today to tell me that they were going to give me a great! deal on the E660 with an ATI board @ $469/CPU & $359/ATI AIW X1900. I kept it professional, hung up, then laughed my butt off.
Yah, I was doin the math & I saved about $275USD compared to ordering all of my parts locally. It's the 1st time I've done this via the internet cuz I usually like to spend my dough at the local PC hardware distributo cuz if something goes wrong I'm within arms reach of choking someone. I still feel weird about purchasing over the Net though. But my confidence build up came frrom you guys here in this forum. Thanks go to you guys that post.
i actually got my mo-bo from a puter shop for a extra 40aud but its kinds worth it cuz mo-bo's have the most chance to fuck upn n i was a little worryed but other then that i got everything from the net and will continue to do so, only thing i wouldnt buy from the net is a monitor

Yeah, I agree.
PS: I FINALLY GOT EVERYTHING my mobo, CPU, Vid card, MEMORY & ATX case. I'm having problems with it all now, but that'll be another thread)
It did turn into a bit of a hassle with TigerDirect, but they came through 200% by making it right. Here's how it goes...
TigerDirect's website had locked up during my credit card's verification & auth. process locking up my credit card. So I had to verbally call in my order. Someone screwed up the order & sent me an OEM E6600 instead of the Retail version, which is the packaged Intel Box with the CPU & the Intel provided cooler (for those who need to distinguish this).
On top of that no fan was included with the OEM version. It took some speaking to a regular rep, then her supervisor, who turned out to be a very outstanding & understanding individual. They quickly rectified the situation by sending me the Cooler Next Day Air. They sent me the ThermalTake Silent-775 Kooler. This, I think, is waaaay better than the stock cooler Intel would've provided. On top of this they refunded me my shipping costs for the processor which in itself was about $25USD
Keep in mind, that because of some screw up on their end the Retail version on their site is going for $399, but they didn't charge me a knickel more $372USD. The lesson to all this is that TigerDirect is not living up to their bad reputation which I read about, heard about & even saw some warnings in the nearby Indian Reservation's smoke signals.
They've got a loyal customer here...(I think). Lets see if what I ordered works. I now have a problem with all of this.
