I got the same message that I already voted too. I'm just gonna wait and try again tomorrow.
P.S. Hooray, USA!
I'm guessing you are at work, cause I got the same message, but when I remote desktopped to my home machine, I entered fine there. It looks like they limit by IP, and someone at your workplace has already entered. Just wait till you get home, or if you have remote desktop set up, use that method.
I read somewhere in this thread that they can't include Europe because they would have to pay "duties".
Last time I ordered something from the US I got a bill from belgian customs 2 weeks after the package arrived.
If they would ship this thing out to Europe with Fedex or something it would cost the receiver money when it crosses a border, not THG.
Very lame indeed not to include ALL visitors on the THG site...
Like the US visitors are better or something? :x
Holy crap!!! I can't believe people are bitching about the specs. You say weak because of onboard sound and sufficient power supply? Just be happy we have a chance to win such a kickass rig.
This, right here everyone, IS the American DREAM; to own the fastest consumer PC in the world. Forget wars, politics, and feeding the homeless, when you can dwindle what life you have left into this godsend. About the only thing this piece of artwork can't do is fly! What girlfriend? Oh that's right my new indistinguishable virtual girl! Wait you mean she's NOT real!? My dual Nvidia 7950GX's say otherwise. HAH!

Do you really think they have a choice, there is most likely too much legal crap to deal with. Besides 1 machine for a worldwide contest would suck, I want to have better odds then the powerball of winning.
Really lousy that this is a US resident only contest. I've been reading this site for like 8 - 9 years. I don't expect anything for reading it, as I enjoy the articles. But it'd be nice to be included
I second every other iteration of my opinion, and especially second mr_interested's post.
The US-Canadian shipping issues are almost non-existant. For many years we've been buying and shipping computers from our neighbour to the south and havent had problems. Now, granted a box, 30" monitor and peripherals is quite a big/heavy package, it's nothing compared to shipping internationally.
I've heard nothing but good things about THG, having downloaded and used many videos for inspiration/guidance but have now lost lots of respect for this company for being so terribly ignorant in the face of such a big fanbase.
I understand the complications arising with shipping internationally, but for crying out loud, Canada or Mexico arent hundreds of thousands of miles away!
Being a resident of El Salvador, I have to agree with the ppl complaining about the contest being for U.S. residents only.
What about the rest of the world? I've been reading Tom's Hardware for so many years, it was the first hardware site I ever visited a long time ago (8 or 7 years ago maybe), and now I consider it to be one of the most respected sites overall in the whole web.
What a big letdown it was to try to register for the contest only to be greeted by the "U.S. residents only" message, so sad...
I know some ppl will notice this is my first post in these forums, but the fact is, I've been an avid Tom's fan for so many years, and quoted its articles in so many hardware forums, that I'm really dissapointed to find out the majority of us are not taken in consideration for this contest, really sad
Hope that by you 15th aniversary I'm a U.S. resident too Just got my dentist's license in California and I'm back in El Salvador waiting to get my H1B visa in a couple of months, so maybe I'll not be so out of luck some 5 years from now In fact, I've been living in the Westlake Village area for a long time (on Bucksmore CT to be exact) taking the tests to get my license, my uncle lives there, so shipping the price to his house once I get it won't cost you a dime! lol!
Anyway, congratulations to all the staff at Tom's on your 10th birthday! and keep up the good work! May you celebrate your 20th and 30th and many other aniversaries
Good luck for all of you participating in the contest I'm so green with envy

Terrible...
So true.....
Same goes for Europe....they even have a headquater here........
Would not be a stretch to solve some of the distribution problems by using different setups that are based upon locally available components......
(small disclaimer stating that, would suffice)
Now, my life wont end because of this......but it is a disappointment if you been a faithfull reader since the beginning........specially if the beginning lies within your continent and is still existing.......but does not recognize it needed your support to come to this stage of your company....
I thought it funny that on such an anti mac site that they are giving away a apple display. I mean, yeah, it is the best, and the most stylish, but i thought for certain it would be a 30" Dell. But yeah, I WANT IT. Why can't i be 18!!!!!
i got a technical question here.... the board that comes with the system is supposely an "ASUS P5N32-SLI" its even pictured and everyhting..... now, is it really this board or did they make a mistake and instead of the "ASUS P5N32-SLI SE" they put that one.
I understand that only the SE version supports C2D.
I just wanted to make sure that all of our readers know that we meant no disrespect to anyone not living in the US when we set up this giveaway.
The legal and logistical framework for our competitions dictates that they be open to US residents only. There may be other organizations that can do these things on a larger scale and with a broader geographic remit, but unfortunately, we don't have those kinds of resources.
So, no offense was intended. It is purely a legal restriction that we have to adhere to, and we hope that our readers understand and appreciate the circumstances.

I have been reading the news articles on THG for like seven years now and what do I get for my loyalty? I've been left out from the contest. Yea, I know, it's a fresh registration with only one post. Yes, it is, because I always came here for the news, sometimes read some posts but that's all, I'm mostly interested in the news articles. But today I feel personally offended by the exclusiveness of the contest so I had to register and post about it. It's so offending!
Can I swap the Falcon "name-brand" for 4x15K SAS drives in RAID 5 on a nice Adaptec controller with a beefy UPS and an X-Fi card? That's about what you could get for the price difference....
Well to be completely honest, ordering the parts off Newegg.com i could do a lot more with 10,000. If I win I will sell it to someone here and build one with parts off Newegg. I am not in the least bit saying this computer sucks, I am just saying I am a an ATI fan.

Strange.....the THG recommended logo does seem to have found his way across the borders.....
And how about organizing it from the german headquaters?
(granted it prolly be different setup)
Dont mean to be rude........and not offended at all.......just disappointed.....
It can be done you know......it really can....just takes a bit more effort....
The kind off effort You guys have always put into the articles......
I have High praise for those articles.....will continue to read them.....
.....but a bitter taste will remain....every time i visit THG.....
please dont't try to make me believe THG had no options to select internationally available components (promoted and all) and let the rig be build by local distributors of the winners location.....
I understand promotional values for Falcon on this, that it would not meet it's purpose if it where to be shipped abroad......I can even see some trading laws prohibiting a easy way.......
But it can be done......how many times can you celebrate becoming 10 years old?
What is the promotinal value of including all your readers........not even mentioning the roots of THG....
I gotten to know THG as a site that is not afraid of taking the not so easy route..............
Please dont tell me you hung up those "cohones"........
I can completely understand the frustration of those outside of the US that they're not eligible and I would be annoyed, too. However, the blame does not properly belong to the company (THG) doing the prize competition, it belongs to the governments who impose restrictive laws and taxes that prevent companies from operating and trading as freely as they would like. So, if you're really angry, talk to whoever the elected official is who pushes this kind of pandering protectivist agenda and support totally free trade. Future generations will thank you (actually, they'll utterly forget you, but you can know you did something good for them nonetheless ).

Dunno about Europe, but as far as I know, Canada and Mexico have long had free trade agreements with the U.S., and even my country (El Salvador), has just adhered to a free trade agreement with the U.S. that took effect this year (CAFTA), heck we even have U.S. dollars as official currency here! 8O
Nevertheless, maybe it would have been beyond the scope of a hardware website to make a worldwide held contest, altough it can be done (Powercolor and another hardware review site just gave an Ati high end video card to whoever guessed who would win the world cup not long ago, and anyone in the world could subscribe to the contest), but the logistics of such a feat must be a nightmare.
Anyway, hopefully in the future we will live in a more open world, at least economicaly speaking
Those are good points. I was wondering what the specific reasons for the lack of inclusion of NAFTA/CAFTA countries. Seems like it wouldn't have been as difficult to include them. However, I think it's extremely unlikely that THG just decided that they didn't WANT to include anyone other than the US. After all, it's not like you're going to anger people in the US by including other countries. That would be seen as expected if possible. It would be interesting to hear more from THG on the specifics of the contest. Perhaps it was a requirement from Falcon that they keep it within the US b/c that may be where Falcon sees their target audience. Even that would surprise me, though. The exposure would be the same (if not greater) by including other countries. It's not as if US people would be mad if the box was won by someone in another country. Chances of winning are already low, so the expectation of winning is not high (except for a few crazies who never took statistics ). Those are the reasons I'm assuming that it's due to govt regulations. I'd like to know more about it, though.
You speant $10,000 on a computer and it has onboard audio good gawde maude and Logitech speakers. Tell ya what remove my name from the contest, sheesh a $10,000 computer with onboard sound and crappy speakers what a waste.
It is really hard to believe that there isn't someone at THG U.S. actually promoting or helping the contest to be only for US residents.
The most sad part is having a PR (OMG!! in fact he is a CEO!!!) here telling that the reasons are the us laws, or even worst the government of the other countries preventing the prizes... classic stuff.
Wow ... what selfish, ungrateful and spoiled people we have here!
Pay attention please.
Suppose one day you are at home, it's as normal as ever and you hear a knock on the door. You answer the door, and there's a man standing there, who, without giving any reason or explanation, hands you a 100 dollar bill. He then turns and walks away. The next day, you hear a knock on your door and answer it; again, it's the same man and he hands you another 100 dollar bill. A week passes in this format, each day that man appears on your door step to hand you a 100 dollar bill. As time goes on, you begin to peek out the window for this man, you sometimes find yourself waiting near the door. Sure enough, the man arrives as is his pattern, and hands you a 100 dollar bill. A month goes by and now you're beginning to expect the visit from the man. His pattern has become so consistent, that you don't even stand by the window waiting for him to walk up your door step. You happily accept the 100 dollar bill each day and it just seems right. But then, one day, there is no knock on your door. You become puzzled and look out the window. You see the man walking, but he passes by your door, knocks on your neighbor's door and hands them a 100 dollar bill. What right do you have to shake your fist at that man?
It's a cute story, but it illustrates some issues here which are being overlooked. Tom's Hardware has been providing free content for nearly 10 years now. We, the community of members who make up their user-base, have been enjoying free content with detailed information, specifications, advice, including financial and technical, a free solution where we can discuss these options and points ... we've paid nothing for these services. The people who run Tom's Hardware shell out time, energy and other important resources so that we have a place in cyber-space to complain that we're not getting our 100 dollar bills anymore. And it's not even that extreme. This is a promotional contest you guys are bickering about, not an organizational decision to make THG a subscription-only service.
No one has any right to shake their fist at Tom's Hardware in this case.
It's a contest. It's supposed to be fun! Get with the spirit! There's no cause for this to become a political dispute.
It's like going back to your mother and telling her you are unsatisfied with your eye color! Be grateful for what you already have. You all have computers of your own ... or at least access to computers; how else would you have been able to post here?
It's good to see some people being able to appreciate this contest for what it is. I'd just like to conclude by extending a big THANK YOU to Tom's Hardware Guide for providing users like me with 10 years of outstanding services.
What's the deal with taxes on this thing? I though gift tax was ~50%. If that's the case, doesn't that mean the winner will have to shell out $5,000 to the government? Even though it's worth a lot, I don't have 5k to drop unless I sold it right away.
Seriously remove my name from the entries, onboard sound and logitech 5400's you can't be serious. Here's your Jaguar XKE but we put lawm mower tires on it sorry. The motherboard is last generation, the ram isn't top of the line latest from Corsair either, never ever hear of sanyo doing anything but crappy electronics, ever heard of Koolance or Alphacool? I see only two things worth the effort and risk of letting personal info out onto the web, the cpu and the video cards not much else. Onboard audio hahahahahahahahahahaha I still can't get over that on a $10,000 investment, whoever picked this out has to have crap behind their ears.
You guys keep giving legal implications as the excuse for not offering the contest to others outside the USA.
First off I have already explained that it is Very easy to offer your contest to Canadians,, all you have to do is exclude Quebec, if your too lazy to fill out a form with the Quebec Province.
If your legal department dosent know this, i suggest you get a new legal firm with some knowledge of Contests, and NAFTA etc..
NEXT off you could offer it to the world IF you place this comment.
"All users outside of the USA must come and pick up their prize in person in X number of days"
An approach i have seen used in the past.
Given the value of the prize im sure people wont mind gettin on a plane and picking it up in person. Then they assume all responsibility to getting the hardware to there residence ( which is actually quite easy ).
Arby, just out of curiosity: Do you live in the US?
Your analogy isint exactly accurate, it should be something like the following..
A man walks up to your door and hands you a 100$ bill, he also does this for every other house on your street. You dont feel others are getting preferential treatment because you're all getting your 100$ bill. Now this goes on for weeks and so on and so forth. After a while, the man starts handing out 10,000$ cheques to homes on the south side of the street. Your house is on the North side. Everyone is still getting their 100$ but some of them got the huge bonus, and the reason given is that the cheques are too heavy to carry accross the road to your house.
How do you feel, being picked out because the man didnt feel it was worth trying to walk accross the street with his chequebook?
Now that is an analogy.

Heck, I'll just use the address of one of my relatives in the US and have them ship it to me if I win... Can't believe I didn't think of it before...

Just get a friend/relative in the US to pretend to be you.
Great, you 'thought up' the same thing that's been floating through all international reader's mind. Hmm.. I guess it's a shame my french-canadian family has decided to encourage the canadian economy by living and working in our homeland and not sell-out our skills to other countries. So this means I dont have anybody to enter the contest for me.. Shit..

OOoooo i would not mind having the rig though.....but it is a bit like having a kickstarter on a space shuttle
