Jersey Village. Chillin' up on the NW Side :D

Hmm that WH isn't too far, and they allow pick up? I like this idea!

Reply to SuperFly03

Yeah, and there's additional... benefits you can get if you got connections like me... I won't go into detail, but lets say that after all is said and done, no one can beat the deals I get from them. Then again, it does help that I've also worked for them before.

Yeah, they actually have a store, where you can check out cases and stuff, talk to their sales rep. When you buy online, there is an option for in-store pick-up.

Reply to Doughbuy

Sweet I will definitely look into that.

Hey Dario, any new information?

Dario your an a$$ for posting the 680i version of the board!!! (read above the memory) and trying to pass it off as the RD600.

Is the op still what the Final Board will look like?

NDA is over...where is my review?

Such a shiny board. I don't recall is there a release date for this puppy?

Reply to gm0n3y

680i will be defined in January, it will depend on how much work DFI put on this thing and how much will the IN9 cost. Gah!

680i = Info in Jan
RD600 = Dec 15th

Reply to 3lfk1ng

I know its DFIs 680i -_-

Wonderful layout again!

That looks like a retail from the box hehe.

First thing you notice is how cooler the RD600 should run!

Reply to Anonymous

Labbby... you did realize thats the 680i like some people pointed out earlier...

And what's with that beast of a chipset cooler? Is that thing going to be annoying loud?

And is that Chipset cooler placed on the Southbridge? Or am I missing something here...

Reply to Doughbuy

Yes I did read the post, I noticed the Fan and was like, ummm weird, because it is really similar to the RD600 layout.

Thats Why I said incredibly nice layout AGAIN, because the RD600 already had it.

And I said first thing you notice is how much cooler the RD600 should run because of that huge fan for the 680i vs Passive for the RD600.!

What you are missing, I think is that the 'southbrige' is a 680 chip as well.
Look at all the crap connected to it =). Still is pretty weird that the Northbridge is not cooled actively as well.

Might have to do with lesser airflow in the area of the northbridge or space constraint. Dunno...

Newegg are VERY efficient in there price gouging.

As soon as an Item is pretty hot, you can see it take a 10-20$ raise.

The ram I bought really recently went up 15$ just like that!

I noticed that mushkin RAM just had another price drop. I'm guessing that the binge of DDR2 performance RAM buying due to AM2 and C2D has subsided.

Nobody goes there but Wingy... and that doctor giving the prostate exam. But on a more concise note, Holy Fuck-n-a-Box Batman.... the NDA is officially over... Anandtech better deliver.

Reply to dasickninja

Ugh, maybe because they're also not using Micron D9 chips anymore... goddamn, hearing that Corsairs PC6400C4 chips aren't Micron D9's really made me sad...

Those Crucial Ballistix sticks look better and better now...

Reply to Doughbuy

Don't forget about OCZ..... granted I don't know as much about RAM chips as you, but given the same "chip" I would choose OCZ over Corsair or Crucial, just my 2 cents on brand preference.

The heatsink design sure does help marketing.....

Reply to SuperFly03

Any hint of a review from anywhere yet?

Reply to trenchdog73

Nope... just have to wait I guess...

The OCZ Special Ops Urban Elite are damn nice, but it's kinda hard to find or their too expensive. Either way, since I won't be buying parts for a while, I'll just keep my eye on prices. The price will affect my decision more than the specific brand ram-wise...

Edit: The Titanium and Platinum Rev. 2 are alright, although I've heard of problems with them. Meh.

Reply to Doughbuy

Funny how experience differ. I would choose OCZ over corsair because OCZ have one of the best perf/price and corsair one of the worst.

But I would get crucial over OCZ any day. Curcial is really synonym of reliability in my mind, from their value model all the way up to the ballistix.

I did get some good experience with OCZ in the past but working in a computer shop I saw quite a few DOA compared to the other manufacturer so I kinda lost confidence in them.

The ramlist I linked is really sweet, IMO it's the most important thing to watch, with price, when buying ram.

Reply to Anonymous

True. This time around I will be putting more effort into my RAM choice. Last time there wasn't much room for debate given Mushkin had the tightest timings for DDR500 and pretty darn good prices when I bought. Now it seems more convoluted and complicated because I have to choose wisely if I want to exceed 4GHz on a E6600

No heatsink on the north bridge?

Reply to gm0n3y

There is a heatsink, it was just taken off to take some shots of the north bridge itself.
Follow the link that labbbby provided, there are more pictures of the mobo.

I think somebody may have asked this already, but why is the southbridge on the 680 board actively cooled (and not on the RD600)? Also odd that the north on the 680 has a smaller passive heatsink that the RD600. Am I missing something here?

Reply to gm0n3y

Pretty strang yeah. 24+ lanes, etc. Still is pretty weird that the Northbridge is not cooled actively as well.

Might have to do with lesser airflow in the area of the soutbridge or space constraint. Dunno...

Reply to Anonymous

Northbridge is actively cooled by CPU fan :P

Labbbby... would you mind posting that link for the Ramlist I see mentioned? I went through the whole topic and must have missed it! LOL This getting old sucks!

Thanks!!

LOL, never mind, I found it on a different thread! Thanks!

I guess if the CPU fan is supposed to cool it we better not get a scythe ninja or the like (rear facing fans). Although I guess, in general, that area is better cooled by system fans. Also weird that they mention the 680i as running hotter than the RD600, yet the 680i has a much smaller heatsink.

Reply to gm0n3y

Yeah that's kinda what I was thinking when I said lesser airflow in this area...

Expect for the fact that the Northbridge handles the memory which obviously could contribute to put more heat, the southbridges are getting pretty crowded nowadays!

Reply to Anonymous

finally i see the light :0) lol Cant wait to see if theres any diff in performance from the 975x with crossfire besides the auto oc.

Reply to trenchdog73

Tony rejected a board...
But i'm very consoled that the Vking Shamino has got one and Anandtech another, with those two I can see its true initial potential.

On other news: 3lf had DFIGASM when he saw the copper NB heatsink. Oh yeah, and check the blog.

Reply to rwaritsdario

I hope that active 40mm fan isin't too loud (I'm assuming it's 40mm)...

La de da de da... just waiting...

Reply to Doughbuy

Hehe sweet, gotta like it. Gonna be interesting!

Gotta love the DFIgasm 8)

Yeah I read about tony having diner with Oscar and rejecting the board to get a final sample :x

Reply to Anonymous

I wish they'd send us one already....

Reply to dasickninja

Yeah at least you guys wouldn't say no to a almost retail sample!

Reply to Anonymous

Hell, if the BIOS was bad, we'd make one for it somehow. But that would affect our review of said product. We're not that desperate. We have (some) morals and standards.

Reply to dasickninja

Yeah anybody who hangs in the Other for too long kinda loose some (most) of their morals =).

Pretty much why I stopped posting there, still read a lot,big wingy and bastage fan 8)
*chill down the spine*

Reply to Anonymous

Ninja probably has enough money to buy out DFI and obtain one right now... but then again, there is the "anti-trust" laws and "shareholder voting rights..."

8 days till release, fa la la la la la, la la la la.

Reply to Doughbuy

The trick is to separate the persona's. What happens in the other stays there and doesn't come up in my mind until I go back.

Reply to dasickninja

Tony from XS has a RD600

Quote :

have promised to wait for DFI to release me before i post benches, plus i travel back to the UK over the weekend so the earliest would be sunday 10th anyway.

I will test as soon as i can, but I am under NDA, i can show pics but will have to ask DFI what and what can not be posted.

So much for the NDA being lifted on the 4th :x

From a Anand editor:

Quote :

he NDA will be lifted next week. MSRP is around $230 and expect prices to be higher at retail until stock exceeds demand

Interesting that the southbridge in that photo is passive. Different revisions already?

Reply to gm0n3y

Ewwwww... the box itself makes me not want to buy it for fear of looking like a nubtard...

Everything else looks fairly nice, but the color scheme... is killing me... all the cables are yellow??!?!? So if I want to color co-ordinate my case, I have to somehow find yellow cables for everything?!?!? Ugh...

Other than that, I'm waiting for some real reviews.
