Ewwwww... the box itself makes me not want to buy it for fear of looking like a nubtard...

Everything else looks fairly nice, but the color scheme... is killing me... all the cables are yellow??!?!? So if I want to color co-ordinate my case, I have to somehow find yellow cables for everything?!?!? Ugh...

Other than that, I'm waiting for some real reviews.

Active is the 680i board, passive is the RD600. Different board/chipset

Reply to Anonymous

They should be UV reactive, so putting some UV light might get them blueish(I think).

I think the colors are not all that bad. But the box, I won't be showing it off if I ever get one!

The yellow is pretty ugly, even the orange would have been better. I would have preferred a nice black to match the board color. But yeah, the box and user manual are a nasty red/pink color.

Heh, all we can do is wait... ugh... I hate waiting...

Still trying to think of a lighting configuration for more computer... should I even bother putting in cold-cathodes? Guess we'll see...

I really need to start paying more attention to what's going on. For now though, I will just blame my slow internet connection.

8 more days....it's killing me...

Even if newegg decides to scalp  people for $300 a pop...I'm buying this board.

Most likely I see its costing between $250 and $275 on release day.

I hope that we ALLcan get our hands on the RD600 before they (the sites) run out of stock...

I plan on not going to bed and just camping all the internet websites until I find the first site that posts it THEN IT WILL BE ALL MINE MUAHAHAHAHAHA.

You will have to compete with me.... I am done with school on the 12th and don't have graduation till the 16th so expect some competition in ordering the RD600

May the fastest clicker win! lol.

Meh, I am going to wait and see how the R600 fares (and comes down in price a little) before jumping on the bandwagon.

I think I may have you beat....I don't go to school...I work out of the home...I have my desktop positioned right next to my laptop for my work and I'm very familier with this setup since I spend over 14 hours a day at my computer (1-2 hours reading on technology..6-7hrs work...and then World of warcraft/cs: s) My work requires me to use both of them going from one to the other constantly so I know how to work very well between the two.

I'll have about 5 windows open on each of them...constantly clicking on each window and pressing "F5" (there is a hint for you that might help)

Thats my current setup.

The trick is, just like with the Xbox 360 core console that went for 100 bucks, is too type in the IP address of the secure server...

And why do you have Diablo II up... I could tell that a mile away from the huge red and blue orbs...

And neither of you could beat me if I plan to buy it on hour zero.

Heh, If I really wanted, I'd get my friends over at Directron to just hold one for me and not sell it. Worked for them + Family friends with owners + One of their best customers = I get whatever I want at cost...

Only 2 reasonable explanations for color scheme and package design:
First involves design team under deadline and a toxic mix of espresso, Jolt, Red Bull and something that really wasn't a non dairy creamer after all.

Second possibility is that designer builds his own computers using windowed cases, but really isn't very handy with cable routing. One romantic evening, he showed his latest disaster to his girlfriend who laughed at him triggering a psychotic episode prior to turning in his designs and this is revenge against anybody who uses a windowed case.

Hehe, I am looking at getting a Commando because that is funny to me 8)

About the 15th, this gotta be the worst date ever. I would have gladly bough one for 300$ shipped but I am leaving the US on the 17th in the morning, I don't really wish to hang around waiting for my shipment nor paying 50$ for weekend delivery :x

To bad. I guess a 680i will be enough, although the digital VRM are sexy =)

See I never got into Diablo II mainly because it came out before I had my own computer 8O

I play Lineage II (along the same lines as DII, mmorpg) goodness that thing is time consuming.

I like how this thread is going in the right direction, but in the wrongest way possible... Last thing my co-workers here need to see is me running around without pants on...

I just realized there are 2 sata ports on the very bottom of the board... ewww... oh well, not that many people will the third PCI-E slot anyways...

The board layout looks fine for everything else. Hopefully my main ATX cable will reach.. meh...

Reply to Doughbuy

I guess DFI is pushing for the bottom mounted PSU's. Yeah. I don't like the SATA placement either, but then again, its not like its an IDE. SATA cables can at least fit in confined spaces.

Reply to dasickninja

The perpendicular orientation of the SATA ports is annoying, ok, rather would be annoying if I was keeping my current case. The ATX board backs up against the rotated hard drive cage with "very" little room to maneuver my large hands in. I have decided to get a Thermaltake Mozart case, so I am thinking I will have enough room. I honestly don't know why they rotated the SATA ports. My guess..... and a guess at that.... is to get them away from the PCI-e slot in case you get a R600 or G80 and have to deal with their length. Oh and I went streaking through the apartment complex in 20 degree weather when I saw Ninja's pics.... ok not really I was asleep but I would have! 8O

Reply to SuperFly03

In this pic to the right is that the audo jack to the right of the cables? http://img155.imageshack.us/img155 [...] in1fm6.jpg

And in all this dfi madness what happaned to that asus board that was supposed to launch befor dec?

Reply to trenchdog73

Yeah it is called the Karajan module. It plugs into the motherboard via a 10 or 12 pin header and is supported by a plastic retention module. I have the same thing on my RD580 board from DFI. It sounds pretty darn good for onboard audio, of course it can't keep up in BF2 and such, but it was never meant to.

Reply to SuperFly03

That Karajan module interests me, I have no room for a dedicated sound card so a decent on-board solution is fairly important...

Any rumours of this board supporting SLI :D

Reply to Doughbuy

I believe that and Crossfire.

Reply to dasickninja

I personally like the 90 degree connector a lot. It will make for much bette cable management, at least in my case! And yes the actual reason is for long 4ss video card started to get in the way.

I personally like the 680i 6 X 90 degree with the remaining in the bottom.

Since I bought SATA opticals, I will likely use 5-6 SATA connector.

Reply to Anonymous

As long as you don't expect the Karajan to replace a X-Fi then it should meet all of your expectations. I used it for music and some basic multimedia clips and it worked quite well (this was back when X-Fi has no supported drivers on Vista but the Realtek chip inside the Karajan did). The module just gets brought to its knees when it has to cope with tanks, gun fire from 20 different people, helicopters on approach, a rocket whizzing by your head, and you crouching and tossing a grenade 8O .

I wouldn't expect the board to support SLI given the state of the union in the GPU market. I think we may see hacked drivers float around randomly for very specific configurations, but as for wide spread support, I doubt it. Too much pride in nVidia

-Labbby

yeah I am finally going to get SATA optical drives. They have been slow as hell in getting those to market. Intel has cut support for the IDE connector on thier chipsets, so it is just a matter of time before AMD does too. Also, they are reasonably priced now, at about $35 for a DVD Burner. I am anticipating 2 Seagate HDD's and 2 SATA DVD burners in my next configuration. I am offloading backup duties to a NAS :D

Reply to SuperFly03

Where do you find a SATA DVD burner for $35? All the ones I've found are overpriced!!

For the audio, there's a reason why we have dual core cpu's :D
Meh, I don't play Battlefield much if at all, mainly I want audio that works decently enough for most FPS (positioning) and movies/music.

Reply to Doughbuy

Alright I'll through you a bone

Newegg.com, hate them as you will but they still have the largest selection I have ever seen. 3 Lite-On ones $36 and under, and one that is around $100.

The Karajan should work well for your purposes... plus there is no cost to trying it since it comes with the board :P

Reply to SuperFly03

yeah That sounds like a really nice feature, cant believe I have never heard of it befor, but im a nub... owell.

Small correction my friend. A n00b (or any variation of the spelling) means that person could be somewhat experienced but at the same time is stupid, disruptive, and or totally incapable of learning. A noob is almost always someone who thinks they're cool but obviously aren't.

Newb (newbie or any variation of that) is not meant to be offensive. Newb merely states that the person in question is new to the game or board.

You can know as much as Wusy and still be a n00b. Also, once a n00b, you're nearly damned to be such forever. You can grow out of newbieness.

Reply to dasickninja

Ah now you are splitting hairs. Good point, I actually didn't know the difference .... you learn something everyday on here, now whether it is pertinant is a whole nother question.

Reply to SuperFly03

Meh. 40% of what I know has absolutely nothing to do with anything.

You know, I am starting to actually like the colors of this board. All that copper actually kinda goes with the orange. If only they had orange (or black) IDE cables with it and better looking packaging.

On a more negative note, my computer will no longer post to bios, YAY!!

Reply to gm0n3y

So Ninja... then by definition, what is a nub?

How about nublet? ROFLCOPTER? LOLLERSKATES? WTFBOMB? WTFBBQ?

Nubcake? fgt nublet?

You have any definitions for these (or are these just a UT thing...) UT meaning Unniversity of Texas and not Unreal Tournament...

And no, I still think the board looks ugly. The DVD burner... should I get a sata one? I have an IDE port just sitting there... shrug... I'll decide sooner or later.

At least that means 60% is relevant.... :D

-Doughboy

I say SATA for 3 reasons: 1) SATA cables are smaller and I loathe everything about the ginormous size of IDE cables. 2) They are much easier to plug/unplug (helpful in diagnosing problems) 3) Refer to 1
