At least that means 60% is relevant....

I say SATA for 3 reasons: 1) SATA cables are smaller and I loathe everything about the ginormous size of IDE cables. 2) They are much easier to plug/unplug (helpful in diagnosing problems) 3) Refer to 1
I actually bought it when it was 32.99 yeasterday =).
I will be reviewing them SATA Burner and SATA reader when I get my mother board. I'll tell you if it install windows and if it's comptabile with nero 6/7 and stuff like that =).
If DaClan is intersted should have it sometime near xmas
I have a few IDe drive lying around in case but for cable management this is gonna r0x0r! =)
True, main reason is for cable managment, but the DFI board has round IDE cables, which I might as well put to use... shrug... Not to mention I should save all my SATA slots for my HDD's (Trust me.. I will have lots and lots more hdd's...)
That and remeber that the Power connectors are the SATA one as well. Make sure you have enough on your PSU, extension/converter/splitter are annoying IMO.
If you have many HD I suggest staying with round cables or folding the cables neatly...
I will have a maximum of 4 internal HD at all time so I am Ok with 2 SATA optical taking the 6 slots from a 680i or 6/8 of the RD600
If I had more than 3-4 hard drives, I would build a NAS out of an old PC and move the extra ones into there. More than 4 hard drives would start adding too much heat and noise IMO.
I have to do it dough....
you have 8 HDD's for 1.8TB of space, right?
So why not use your connections and get 3 750GB hdd's for $5/each
I couldn't resist
Depends on the case though.
In the Tj09, the HD are totally separated from the whole computer and have 3 mesh grills surrounding them, I will put a super quiet 120mm in between the two cage with 2 HDs. I could fit 6 no problem.
As for noise, well the Raptors are noisy not much can be done about that eheh.
Live On DFI web site.
You guys can get the manual. Might be a good idea since we all know you won't read it when you receive the board
.
Now that I think about you probably never read it but this time you will because you need more details since ou can't have it 8)

UV on! Tweak fun! ...
Meh... Directron is large enough to get discounts, but not that much :x
Actually I find that with HDD's, the best thing to do is wait for both manufactuer and reseller rebates to come together, and then you can get them for around 10-15 cents per gig if you're lucky. Which is what I've done. Not to mention the 8 HDD's I have were bought over the span of 3 years... back in the dark days where 400-500 gig hdd's were "GINORMOUS"...
Kinda sad though that I have a little over 2 TB now (Bought another HDD) but a guy buying 3 750 gig's can top that in no time at all... but it'll take him forever to fill it up
Damn we are being teased!!!!!!!!!!!

Kinda funny they don't support DDR2 533.... I assume they will have the divider which corresponds to 533 so we can keep the memory synchronous with the FSB, but just an oddity I saw.
Lately, I have been buying 250 and then 320gb HDs since they have been in the pricing sweet spot for the last year or so, but it only seems to take me about 2 months to fill 300 gigs. Then I spend another 3-4 months before I buy another only downloading stuff that I really want and cleaning up the stuff I don't really need.
I thought that the RD600 was going to support dual 16x pci-e slots not 8x 8x.
In reality there is no performance difference between dual 8x slots and dual 16x slots. The best difference I heard was like 1-2FPS, meh.
Well there was rumor it would. Discussion around that is that 8X8 is really damn close in performance, makes a little difference in bongholio points that's it.
Making it 8X8 reduces the chip complexity, reduce layout complexity , thus making it more cost effective and let you have a better layout.
I don't know much about 'dongle less' X fire dunno if it could play a role there...
Here you go Labbbby
Linky to Dongle performance testing
Quote : The bottom line is SLI works best with the bridge, and there's no good reason to be without it. CrossFire, however, does have some scope for dongleless usage, unless ATI has any other plans in the pipeline...
Basically here is a summary...
Ati is the clear winner in Dongleless performance testing.
How'd you sketch up your Project: Dream box? that looked quite nice.... I assume some version of CAD or something. I am relegated to using pencil and paper and my imagination.... assuming it's turned on lol.
Google Sketch-up.

Thank you Ninja
I have a gentleman that is going to do a sketchup of the DFI RD600 and the DFI 680I just for the hell of it. He also uses sketch-up to do many other things.
He did these....he is far beyond my skill

He even has a site filled with computer stuff that people have sketched using Google Sketch-Up
I figured that was too easy 8O
Live and learn.... then get Luv's when we finally see a review of the RD600 and shit our pants at its performance.
Quite welcome.
I hope DFI will be able to overcome the bandwith issues and provide excellent performance.. but that wont be seen until we have a performance freak reviewing the board *prays for Coolaler*
Very nice RAID and voltage options!!
The voltage options are similar to those on the RD580 (imagine that lol). The DFI BIOS is quite overwhelming to a newb (thanks ninja
). I've had my RD580 for a year (give or take) and I still don't know what all the options do. It is a daunting task and, to me, a hell of alot of fun.

Just for ya'll one more time....
I am going to bust out my hickory stick and beat the living sh!t out of you..... (name the song
) Just kidding. Ninja you just enjoy toying with us don't you?
You just love making orgies with our beloved board, dont you!?
I remember the song "Hit me with your rhythm stick"...not sure which song those lyrics are from!
Adam Sandler - The Goat .... Hilarious stuff
Some more teaser, 5 days....
Pretty.... now if I can only wait...
Quote : Ugh, maybe because they're also not using Micron D9 chips anymore...
I'd have to dig into the email archive to be certain but I think mushkin is still using D9s.
any reviews yet
If there was one, we'd be analyzing the life out of it my friend.
Yeah.... I would be all over it like a fat kid on a cup cake. I would much rather analyze a RD600 as opposed to reading an audit book lol.
Audit books?
I was wondering if anyone has checked out what EVGA has available. The board I currently have is a s-939 but it sports the same chipset as the dfi extreme and bios settings are similar.I'll look at what they have and post their newest on here as i think EVGA is a good contender for a top notch position.Although EVGA is relatively new to the mother board game, they do use high end, quality components and although I've had a few issues with my board,I have confidence that they will achieve the status of awesome mother boards.

Well I have some news from the OCZ Summit 2006 held in Taiwan on the 7th of December.
The DFI ICFX3200 (RD600) T2R/G should be out around Christmas (according to DFI at the Summit).
There was a demo of the board with a Core 2 Extreme X6800@450MHz×8 (3.6GHz) and Ram was @1,124MHz
Here are some interesting pics:
Got a link? I would love to examine the living sh!t out of it and check if the rumor about yet ANOTHER BIOS chip revision were true.
What card was that for the 3dmark?

From tony...yet again =)

Tony, according to this guy there is a BIOS issue so the board will be delayed another week. Is this guy speaking the truth?
I had a bios mailed to me on Friday, tons of fixes.
Go with the 15th still, if i get more i will let you know
Since I'm not familiar with Intel Core 2 Processors, could someone explain what SSSE3 is, which is posted on the CPU Z. It is listed with all the instruction sets.

Here you can also see some other nice goods from the show as Asus "Commando" and Gigabyte 680i Boards etc....
Quote : I was wondering if anyone has checked out what EVGA has available.
they've got the 680i reference board manufactured by Foxconn & badged for them.
Yeah, I read that too. But remember that everything Tony gets is ES so from that to mass market production theres quite a difference.
Very nice meeting the OCZ guys had, but no insider news which is what I was looking for =/
Well la de da, looks like we're still playing the waiting game...
Maybe the 15th might be a bit optimistic... probably won't be very widely available until after Christams... oh well, it'll make a nice present for myself...
Anymore concrete info guys?
Yeah good point, still he got it 1 week before lunch, if DFI has a working BIOS I could see the board shipping with strong recommendation of upgrading the BIOS from the web first thing. Might be to optimistic...
Still I the first batch of P5W DH and P5B-dlx had a quite a few issue with their shipping bios.
DFI News , December 8th
So the board was launched last friday, what does that means ?
