Yes its called Cubase, it's been there since the start :>
And there is ableton, buzz, reason and loads more.
Logic is not all that great, and serious studios will use pro-tools anyway, which is seperate hardware.

Don't laugh at fruity loops either. You'd be surprised what it can do...Bad Craftsmen and Tools Wink

Logic and ProTools are the most versatile packages available, the others are good, but limited in many areas.

For project-studios, Logic is king. For big studios, ProTools (with it's awesomly powerful - and expensive - interface cards) is a worldwide standard.

FruityLoops really is that bad, though.

I am familiar with all packages.
Yes fruity isnt as good technically, but thats why there are studios. But one thing that is true, Garbage In Garbage Out. I've heard plenty of productions that exceed the expectations of fruity loops.

Same applies to reason too. Don't knock the software. Software doesn't make music, people do.

Oh and you forgot cubase ;)

Well that's true, but a good software package helps an unbelievable amount. I used to use Cubase and Sonar on the PC (a lo-o-o-o-ong time ago), and honestly my work improved when I started using Logic, and not just in sound quality. Music is such a non-linear thing that software can only get in the way of it, and Logic is the most transparent, yet powerful, layer I've found between unspent creativity and the finished product.

heh fair enough, its a personal preference i find anyway.
I haven't used logic since V6. When i first tried it i liked it because of the synths and a few neat little functions.
Stuck with cubase/reason since. Reason is great for Doodling! Really responsive and quick to use. Cubase is for making it all sound a bit nicer and plugins :p

Okay, dude, I don't really know why I'm bothering with this anymore, you're not going to 'get it'. Perhaps I'm doing it because you attacked me personally in one of your posts today. Hmmm.

why you feel attacked? it must be the mamby/ pamby exterior of your self. You've done nothing but hurled attacks at me yet I don't feel attacked. It must be my toughness. lol.

So it's more about having choice on the PC and not being constricted to one piece of software. REMEMBER the REASON to have a COMPUTER is TO RUN SOFTWARE! But yet you don't get that for some odd reason?

You're right. In fact I don't use my Macintosh computers every day. I just look at them, because I haven't figured out yet that they're actually designed to run software. OMFG, you have opened my eyes, I am eternally grateful.

your welcome. That's the first step in the recovery program is to admit you have a problem. Well done! now don't do anything rash and try to right click something ok?

Ninja's already answered this one though - perhaps before you go out spurting 'you can't get software for Mac!' you should check.

lol I meant in an actual store... walk into BestBuy what do you see, Fry's, CompUSA.  Those stores give the actual perception of what apple is doing in the computer space. {NOTHING}

Well at the time it was the fastest PowerPC desktop computer in the world.

I'll have what you're smoking.

I'm not so bothered about that, though. He's a businessman (and a damn good one)...what do you honestly expect. I'm just saying he's doing his job, and very well.

Lies catch up with you sooner or later.

Again...'Maximum PC' magazine, and you don't expect a bias? Their readers want to read that article and be reassured about how much better their PCs are than 'them stupid Mac types'. And look how it worked!

"them stupid Mac types" = aha so now you agree that you are stupid... nicely done.

Huh? one of the first times MS and apple going for the same exact market? Windows ---- OS X? Oh M$FT already owns that market so it doesn't count right? Looks like you need some work on your grammatical abilities... like thinking before we spout off.

Windows and OS X don't go for the same market. At all. OS X is made for a totally different and, lest we forget, 'insignificant' chapter of the computer market, whereas Windows is for real tough guys like yourself, not namby-pamby types.

Hmmm Windows = OS / OS X = OS... While I admit OS X is worthless in the REAL computer market as that OS could never stand up to all the threats Windows faces in 20 min. But regardless of this fact they are both still OS.  Steve Jobs seems to think Windows is his biggest competitor otherwise why the ad campaign?

And again, I have to thank you for enlightening me once more - I wasn't aware that 'thinking before we spout off' fell under the category of 'grammatical abilities'. I must have fallen asleep in that lesson. Thanks again.

You're most welcome, hopefully everyone here can learn this lesson and fully understand and implement it to it's fullest fashion like you have demonstrated in your last post. Nicely done.

now you're really talking your age... who cares how old you are. Age of you or anyone else here is not the subject. I have built many PC's so big deal. I am sure that most of the population that frequent this board has done that... so you're nothing special so get over yourself.

Yeah, I'm really not talking age here or indeed experience, I'm just saying that your argument holds up like the reason a 3 year old 'needs' more Pokemon cards (or whatever **** they're buying these days).

now you're making me feel older than you... what the hell is a pokemon card?I've heard of baseball cards that's about it except for playing cards.

However you did say that Macs are for people who 'don't know how to put stuff together' (OWTTE), and seeing as I use a Mac (and so does Ninja) I thought it neccessary to point out that in fact 'we' do infact know how to build stuff. I though also I should point out that you were full of ****. Which you're doing an admirable job of yourself.

ah very good you are reading my posts after all, and interpreted correctly too. Wow I am surprised. However because of the board we are on puts this crowd that frequents this board in a different arena than what represents a typical or "average" mac user.

I'll be very generous and say that Mac has a laughable 7% market share.

Of that 7% how many of those people know what a MotherBoard is? That was my point. Remember just because you have a license to drive a car doesn't mean you are a really good driver.

Alot of people think I am full of sh1t, so I wouldn't expect any less from you.

Either way, I'm an avid anti-Mac person for many reasons, but the biggest is that usually people who buy and use Mac's are douchebags who know nothing about computers but still talk smack of Windows and PC's...

I think i´m going to print that and pin it to my wall. It´s straight to the point.

Would you care to rewrite your last post with some facts. And also perhaps trying to increase your perception of sarcasm would help you out as well.

Are you serious? Okay, a breif outline for you.

OS X only runs on Macs. Windows runs on both, but for the sake of argument lets just say it only runs on PCs.

The adverts are trying to convince people that their next COMPUTER should be a Macintosh, not that OS X is so much better than Windows. I know Mac users who don't even know what OS X is FFS - they still dropped the moolah for the computer.

OS X couldn't stand up to the threats Windows does? Well I'd be happy to believe it. Evidence?

Seriously, don't even try analogy next time you think it'll get your point across, it just makes you look more like an idiot.

Do you really think that all those 93% of computer users around the world who use PCs know what a motherboard is? No. Crap argument (although kudos, at least you tried on this one.)

No its because you, one, continually make personal attacks in the MadModMike style, and the evidence you post is shaky at best and quite full of holes. Two, you belay a ignorance that hasn't been seen since man though bloodletting increased health and vitality. Three, you keep complaining about Mac software when this is a Mac OC thread. Four... you don't deserve a four.

@Ninja, pretty busy so far this week, but I've set some time aside for this weekend for overclocking the B&W and also doing an OSx86 experiment, will post results soon.

The fact is that any productivity software that you can purchase for a PC you can do the same for a Mac.

Does Autodesk have mac version of AutoCAD or 3Dmax? Nope. And they are market leader in engineering/architectural softwares. Is there any CAD program for mac that can be used to create a virtual building model? With all element/component listings and calculations? Any? NO!

Well that's not entirely true either. OS X will run on x86 hardware. There are numerous hack sites all over the internet that tell you how to do it.

OS X has at best 5% market share. If it held 95% market share the virus writers would write more malicious code for that platform. Just common sense answers that.

There you go filling in blanks that aren't there. The analogy was Mac users not all computer users. But you know what the answer is to the actual question and it's one you won't win so you add and fill in between the lines.

There are some people who should just save their time and not join a forum.

(Awaiting your quote of that last sentence saying something along the lines of 'yeah, you, st00pid')

If you want to post anything again I'd urge you to

a) Not

or at the very least

b) Read it through before you post it so as not to contradict yourself

and

c) Back up everything with facts.

(Please, I invite you to quote something I've posted that hasn't been factual and that I haven't listed as opinion)
