You do not HAVE to be connected for it to work you have to be CONNECTED for it to work the way you wish it to....
I was completely unaware of that fact. Wow.... this bring to mind the PSP. Anyone ever tried to play a new game and the PSP forced you to upgrade the firmware? Yup, same sh!t day in and day out for PSP.
Everyone remember what M$ did about the Xbox being hacked.... said "ok, fine we really don't care, but I am not going to allow you to use it on Xbox live and give yourself an advantage." I digress to compare the two b/c M$ has more experience with pirating than does Intel and the like. How can you "pirate" a CPU? You can steal one, but you can't pirate it.
Gates is giving away his fortune with the same gusto he spent acquiring it, throwing billions of dollars at solving global health problems. He has also spoken out on major policy issues, for example, by opposing proposals to cut back the inheritance tax.
In contrast, Jobs does not appear on any charitable contribution lists of note. And Jobs has said nary a word on behalf of important social issues, reserving his talents of persuasion for selling Apple products
Plus, Jobs doesn't give a crap about the environment. Greenpeace rated Apple dead last on their list of environmentally friendly tech companies. All Steve Jobs cares about is making money.
I read the article before. :-) And to say that M$ stockholders care about the environment more than any shareholders at Apple (includes stockholders) is kind of silly. Look at the world and you'll see that $ > environment. Only greenpeace and the like really cares. Of the apartments I've lived in, none recycled. Yet, recycled paper is better than new paper...imagine that.
I personaly agree with MS decision to ban the use of modded units on live for the reason stated.
Though im going to have to read this artical to see what he means by use it the way you want since i dont care about region codes since i dont goto the UK to buy movies
Most companies that go green or have good corporate governance and global manufacturing principles do so for the good reputation and publicity. Let's not kid ourselves here. If Gates didn't give away massive amounts of money, do you think people would respect him much for hoarding billions while there are so many problems he could address with the doodle of his pen?
Oh, and modded Xbox's are still on Xbox live. :-) I've been cheated on Halo2 this week. Don't you love the guys that bounce high in the air and kill everyone on your team in .5 seconds with a BR? The problem isn't fixed, it might be "being addressed." As for region codes and piracy, I'm all for stopping it, as long as price competition can remain fierce. When one company is producing all the media...they can charge whatever they want. Without ATI NVidia can charge $2000 a card.
When it comes to bill i really dont care what hes doiong to "better" the planet by throwing around money i only brought it up because someone was talking about it. WHen it comes to my computer i only care about hte hardware and software thats goes in it not the companys "humanity" (short of sweat shops and things like that)
M$ took the appropriate position with regards to the hacked Xbox. Hell, I still have 2 of them in my apt, both hacked both still work and are useful. We know that M$ has the ability to force software updates on us, but have you noticed that all the 360 updates are voluntary? On the original they could have done what Sony does with the PSP, but they choose not to. It really highlights a different mindset that caused the success that M$ has had and has really exploited Sony (in a good way) and really stuck to them by saying "Oh here is a $200 drive to play hi-def stuff, Merry Christmas Japan!" lol.
Back to studying..... Damn addictive forums!

That isn't a cheat as much as it is an exploit. You don't hack to super-bounce (as it is called). There are certain places on levels where the wire points on the underlying frame converge and the screen stutters if you crouch and walk into them. Then you quickly jump onto a general point and get launched into the air. I can do it on my legit 360 or on a hacked 360, the exploit itself is embedded in the programming of the game. Hacks in Halo 2 are like stanbying where you manipulate the network connection itself in order to give yourself an advantage.

That's kind of my point... Steve Jobs is hoarding 4.4 billion (he's #140 on the world's richest people, compiled by Forbes) which he could easily use a portion of to make the world a better place. Does he? No. Do people still like him? Yes.

Well, I give a crap about the environment. My girl and I do what we can when we can (in fact her and a friend just started a recycling program at our work facility). Just because you could care less about the planet doesn't mean that everybody else could care less. Plus, I think people are starting to care more and more as it's becoming more of an issue (hell, 10 years ago I could care less and now I'm quoting GreenPeace).
For the people who care about hte environment you defanitly should be riding apple. I think greenpeace is now riding them for thier refusal to do something about thier pollution of it.
Now i defanitly do care about the environment though my actions sometimes speak louder then those words.
I cant stand how companys pallute the living hell out of it.

360 multiplayer updates are mandatory for online play. They include anti-cheats. As far as the difference between superbouncing and modding, I guess you haven't played much Halo2...when a guy is zipping around the map at 100mph and flying like superman, I'd say it's a bit more than superbouncing. BTW, I haven't ever bothered to learn superbouncing either, as it's not what the people at Bungie intended for the game. They're just too lazy to fix it. MS could care less about Halo2, they've made their cash on it. It's a GAME. They really don't care. It's been abused, ruined, hacked, modded. It's old tech and old software. They aren't going to spend the money on fixing it. Period. Gameshark should have their pants sued off. MS and Bungie have basically admitted defeat with Halo2. They've gotten rid of good game types, attempted a reset of stats to no avail, and seperated Xbox 360 live from the original. I'd say they've moved on and let go a game that should've been great become mediocre. Don't get me started.
I actually own a PSP and it pisses me off, because Sony's updates don't do anything besides make it harder to run "home brew" apps on the PSP. Why would they care??? Oh yeah, because they are afraid that it will cut into their profits.

When did I say I didn't care? I bitched out my gf's best friend's fiance for throwing a pop bottle on the ground. Damn Upers. Needless to say I have some difficulties forging relationships because I find people to be very nearsighted. But I'd rather be the voice of reason than cuddled up with some beer gutted couple from Northern Michigan. My GF still loves me. :-)

Yeah greenpeace has been pressuring them but I don't think they care. Oh well.
