Well, the Seoul one is 15gb long (2hour show) and its unbelievable... Though, HD just highlights the fact that these guys are getting old. Close to RC old. Just a shame I have to encode it to wmv in order to watch it on the tele.

I picked up one of the guitar magazines @ WalMart a couple of weeks ago, as it's devoted entirely to them. Interviews and history and stuff...

OK, I think I got it, as I was considering making my 12 year old daughter one of these for Christmas, I figured I might as well put pen to paper and see what I can come up with..... This is in no way my final list, as I haven't put it together and listened to it, but I think it'll do...

1 Ecstasy Of Gold 4:22
2 Battery 5:13
3 Sad but True 5:23
4 For Whom the Bell Tolls 5:10
5 Seek and Destroy 6:55

I'm going on leave today, so I'll be getting my list up asap. I must say after watching the hd stuff, my list has changed somewhat.

Oh and the show from Seoul was of such high quality, you could see mist shoot up as Kirk was working the strings on that guitar. I hand it to the Japs - full hd, 5.1 and interactive info during the show. Seeing that it was the first time I got my hands on full hd I can say wow, and I doubt if anything else would've wowed me more!

Reply to Vokofpolisiekar

Impressive... We may have to work out a way for me to hold onto a backup copy of that for you..

Well, after much postponing I've got 11 tracks.

1:03:11

1. Battery 4:44

7. Sad But True 5:24
8. Of Wolf and Man 4:16
9. One 7:24

Reply to Vokofpolisiekar

Sweet.... I haven't put mine together yet, so maybe I'll do that when I get home. Concert is two weeks away so I should have something to listen to that night!

Bloody hell, I only figured what the whole story was about the Pearl Jam album Binaural. It was recorded using the Binaural method which simply put utilizes a dummy head with microphones for each ear (as in, in the ear) so that it would reflect our hearing as in sitting there while they were being recorded.

Quite nifty, and when you listen to the album you can actually hear the difference as opposed to previous and following albums.

Down side is that it only works with stereo headphones for the desired effect.

Reply to Vokofpolisiekar

Binaural recording are normally made for playback via Headphones. It increases the special perception quite dramatically and gives you the stage depth a lot of stereo recording can have when played that way. A lot of the early 70's stuff played ping pong to give a similar effect but failed badly.

Special perception? Do you mean spatial perception?

Oh and anyone else finding the forums to be screwed in regards to the flagging system?

Jef: I've started narrowing down the albums I like the most in terms of overall tempo and feel and they are Black / ...And justice for all.

Master of Puppets can maybe sneak in there if I listen a bit more to it. But the above two is what Metallica is all about in my view. Not the best tunes necessary.

Reply to Vokofpolisiekar

Well, here's the setlist from last night...

That Was Just Your Life
The End Of The Line
Creeping Death
Ride The Lightning
One
Broken, Beat And Scarred
Cyanide
Sad But True
Wherever I May Roam
All Nightmare Long
The Day That Never Comes
Master Of Puppets
Blackened
Nothing Else Matters
Enter Sandman
- - - - - - - -
Last Caress
Motorbreath
Seek and Destroy

It was amazing, but different. I think that Metallica live has become more "down to business," but luckily, their business is rocking till your head blows up. Some of the intros (All Nightmare Long, Blackened, etc) were pre-recorded. This to me was like cheating, but it allowed more music, as the intro was rolling while they were changing instruments. But there was also less of the playfull banter with each other and the crowd. However, the stage / lighting was the most amazing I've ever seen for Metallica. They even had lazers for two of the songs, and it was freakin cool...

Even though we didn't spend any money last night (yeah no beer, get over it), the two tickets for tonight that I'm contemplating would run us $150, and it's just not the smartest thing to do with the economy the way it is right now. But I have been thinking about it...

Well I bet you had an awesome time. We only had Metallica once here, and they played part of a festival which = me standing there having to watch two stages with local talent trying their best until Metallica comes up. I didn't go and thank goodness I did not. They were 2 hours overdue and there was no toilets available, minimal kiosks etc. Was the worst festival in our history.

If I go watch Metallica, I want them and them alone. Two hours.

In our currency $150 is half my groceries for a month.... :-)

Reply to Vokofpolisiekar

That's not a bad guess for our family as far as groceries go. But hey, you only live once.

It was a good time. I'll post a video from their site later, but I'm guessing you have to be logged in to see it. I'll find out when I get home.

The one thing my wife and I found odd was that they had these awesome lasers, and they only used them for two songs...

Reply to JustPlainJef

The company they hired to do the laser charges the use of their technician per minute I guess...

Lars: "Quickly, jam this next track fast cos that fcuker is being paid per minute to make the laser thingy work..."

Reply to Vokofpolisiekar

Well, there were multiple effects for the show, and they were queued up for the songs, which I understand. But looking through the setlists, there's 5ish songs from the new album, and a few older ones that are in every set. The rest of the setlist is wide open and changes from night to night. So they had flames for some songs and lasers for some songs and moving coffin light-holders for some songs, which was cool, but the lasers were wicked, but under-used. Just odd. I mean, I understand not making it into a laser light show, but two songs out of 20 or so songs.

Anyone know Java?

Looking at the code, it'd prolly just be easier to go to www.MetOnTour.com and sign up for an account and watch the video from 1/26 in Chicago.

Ummm, yeah. That will still come. Instead of pulling excuses left right and center I'm just going to admit that I'm overdue. Still trying to add chapter markers for the HD show.

Got some other acoustic stuff from SP's - will include it.

Reply to Vokofpolisiekar

Only got around to reinstalling windows yesterday - so I'm gonna give Windows Movie a go today. Don't want to send that video in 2 hour guise without chapters - you know, for that intoxicated nights you want to watch a particular track...

Reply to Vokofpolisiekar

I'm hooked an old choone the past two days: Iron Man - Black Sabbath.

Hang on ...*hits repeat*...
