This is the thread that goes on and on...

But to make a sad story longer, I'm a 25yr old college student majoring in wasting money at large universities. I am getting married next week and as such just spent nearly $1000 upgrading my computer because I know it won't happen once I'm married. I have been fooling around with computers for 7-8 years now, it all started with a p3 500 gateway with 128mb ram for a shade under $2,500...and now its grown into a 4 box nightmare in my apartment and countless builds for other people. Best part? I use the same copy of windows registered on each and every computer I build but if you ask microsoft they would tell you that it's only running on one computer

ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
AMD X2 4200+
evga 8800gts
2GB (2*1GB DDR400) G.Skill
SB Audigy 2 ZS
1 - 60GB WD IDE, 1 - 120GB WD IDE, 1 - 250GB WD SATA

Well lets see here ...

39 year old G33K .. originally from Australia, now living in Ohio (took the wrong damn turn somewhere !)

First computer I ever got my hands on was the Trash-80 from Tandy and have had everything since then .. everything that has been learnt over the years was hammering the books .. avid gamer, love the simulators, flying, driving you name it. Console gaming is also a plus .. just purchased my PS3 not to long ago.. no complaints from me yet about this .. Love it.

I'm married, 4 kids, all teens .. oldest one ( son 18 ) is now in the US Army .. bought a new house recently, wired it to the hilt .. every room has a computer and network connectivity. Basement is the heart of the realm .. 2 main servers run everthing.

Professionally .. I work with one of the worlds largest financial institutions as a LAN Analyst II.

anyway, I am 25, live with my girlfriend who loves to break all my stuff and download mahjong trials and play them for an hour, uninstall and repeat. It is sad, I have a gamecube with games just for her, cool computer games that are too gory for her, and a ps2, but mahjong is the only thing she will play. I think she may need a 12 step program.

ROFL my g/f LOVES mahjong, but every once in a while she will play some WoW with me. :)

Foolish women. I heard you need an 8800GTX to play the latest Mahjong trials? Make sure she reads this...then you can get away with buying a $600 card!

Mines into The Sims.
The Sims, The Sims2, Sim Pets, Pary edition, bleh, blah. Every edition you can think of.

yeah.... Sims... for those people that just don't have enough of a life of their own. 8O

when you do something stupid and get your sim killed it turns into a ghost and haunts the other sims.

30 Years old technician for an Embedded Systems Integrator.
No College degree, but lots of hands-on experience with PCs since I was 13.

I'm a die-never PC gamer who for some reason continues to buy consoles only to rarely-if-ever actually play with them except for a few games, but will upgrade my PC every so often.

Otherwise like movies, books, and guns. In NH they are easy to own, and a hell of a lot of fun to shoot.

Doing what I do is a lot of fun, we get to play with and design really cool systems and explore their limitations... also... we have a good relationship with both AMD and Intel so we get to play with all the cool engineering samples of the latest CPUS (if we are doing a design on them) before their release... (and Overclock them :P )

Thinking ... BSOD. I should start using linux

No and I think you all should be concerned with things more important than what avatar I choose or following me around harassing me about it. Its ****** pissing me off that I can't go two posts without someone crying about it.

Go back to the old avatar until you find a better one, that way you don't have to be harassed.

Install inmmediately LINUX! It's an order!
Linux cames with mahjong for free. :o

P.S. Even Linux it's free. 8)
P.S. 2. I think mahjong it's part of the games that cames with gnome desktop(the second most known desktop). And yes mahjong it's the BEST.

Yes, the current version of Gnome comes with Mahjong.

If you want...the next version of Gnome comes with Soduku too...download the second Alpha version of Ubuntu "Feisty Fawn" (Herd 2) and you get Soduku and one other board game.

Get her addicted to that, too!

I am a 46 Electrical Engineer married with three kids 20 junior,19 freshman ,0.5 (yes that is a zero and decimal in front). We live in Pittsburg PA where I work for a defense contractor designing lets call them "toys". My job is not computers though it is magnetics computers is a hobby.

My first PC was the Atari 800 Played M.U.L.E. on the thing mostly. Moved on to an IBM PC,3 86, cyrix6x86 P166+, Tbird 1.4 as I recall, Then I started building my own with an athlon 2400+, Athlon 64 3200 (this one), Athlon 64 3600+ (the daughter school PC), Core2Duo E6400 (The son's school PC so I could get mine back). Linux cames with mahjong for free. Surprised

P.S. Even Linux it's free. Cool

For about 1 second, I thought about it... then I realized that SHE would win and she needs to be punished. I could just buy maj-jong... there is a specific version she likes for $10 to download. But then I would NEVER get my thesis done (yes I am still working on it). The only thing I get to count on now is that she will definitely only play for 1 hour at a time - sometimes 2 if she is really expeditious.
