The, mythical, 'Scotchlands' are nothing but stories we tell our kids at Halloween. Stories of primitive cave-dwelling creatures that inhabit the frozen hills feeding on animal entrails. When we really want to frighten them, we tell them that the savages are so mentally impaired they eat porridge with salt.

Liverpool is as northern as it gets: it's uninhabitable by southern fairies who can't survive on beer without copious amounts of lemonade added[/shandy drinking puff]
No, that was simply because dibble needed putting in their place. Largest riots in Liverpool outside Toxteth were on my estate. In the early eighties you couldn't set foot outside without dibble trying to fit you up for something, anything would do, just so they could get off that estate back to the station and away from danger. Race riots my arse, there were only three prople on Canny Farm in the eighties who weren't white.
"The estate was plagued by unemployment, car crime, burglaries, rioting and vandalism during the 1980s as it was one of the most hard-hit parts of Liverpool during this era. It has since been regenerated, with most of the housing stock either improved or replaced".
People are "Stock" now ??
Jeez Tom ... bet your handy with a piece of lead pipe or a knife.
I'll just call you "Sir" now ... politely.
Sir ...

The burglaries were mostly the doings of the smackheads. The heroin problem there at the time was outrageous. More than half a dozen people I went to school with never saw twenty.
The rioting was mainly the work of ordinary people pissed off with the heavy handed attitude of dibble and their 'if you live there you're guilty of something' mentality.
Vandalism, simply kids with fcuk all else to do.
The regeneration consisted of garden fences being replaced with brick walls. A leisure centre being built. Being, being only too true, it's still not finished. Fcuk all has changed on that estate.
As for the lead pipe or knife, either, though as I've mentioned many times, I prefer a pickaxe handle. Had I not been handy I wouldn't have made it out.
