Yeah, it's terribly hot. If I didn't plan on getting a DS3 or similar in the early spring I would get a JingTing or Extreme Spirit II for it.

Anyone who quote's my favorite song is cool in my book :)

One late night I set my alarm clock to get up early in the morning. My intent was wake up to something soft, elevator music, if you will, at a low volume. I had been listening to my Opiate CD at a rather high volume that same fateful night. Due to my own oversight, at 5:30am the next morning the song "Sweat" came on - loud... very loud... and woke me from a deep, deep sleep. I was startled so bad it hurt. 8O I shook all day long after that. I couldn't tell you this story if I had forgotten it, and know that it happened 9 long years ago.

Let me guess.

DS3 + E4400/4300 ?

Hard to resist, isnt it :) Sometimes I wish I didnt spend as much time getting up to date on pc hardware... then I wouldn't know what's a good OC opportunity, and I wouldn't be rushed to spend more cash for an upgrade that's not actually that necessary :)

Cheers

Man your project has really turned out beautiful and just may be beneficial to you in ways you possibly didn't even think of.

I'm a subscriber of CPU magazine, [Computer Power User] each month a members modded CPU tower is displayed on the front cover, and a usually 2 page article inside of how you did the project.

I believe your project looks good enough to make the cut, and conforms to all their requirements to qualify you for a chance at getting displayed.

If they choose your rig for a cover article in the "Mad Reader Mod" section, you'll get $1,500.00 and a one-year subscription to CPU magazine, joining CPU mag first would be a great place to start but you can join and get three free trial issues www.computerpoweruser.com, so you have nothing to loose on that point.

They're looking for rigs that are recognizable as PCs, and yours fits exactly what they're looking for, Email Photos and a description to madreadermod@cpumag.com

Good luck and I hope they choose your rig! Ryan

hey there you are

did you fight this weekend?
how did it go?

Reply to sirheck

Went well. I had position almost the whole fight except he (Mike Hansen) ?accidentally? kicked me in the back of the head while I was on the ground (-1 point for the round.) Right near the end of the 2nd round I caught him with a right hook that stunned him and he went down for a takedown attempt and I caught him with a whip kick above the right eye and he got cut pretty bad. Referee stopped it and it went to an early decision and ended up 20-17. My leg is pretty bruised but I'd like to see his eye right now. Mind you I had just taken a cold pack off and my girlfriend thinks it's funny so my leg is even bigger now, almost twice normal size. Heading to the doctor tonight to see if anything is broken.

glad to hear you won and are in pretty good shape.

reminds me of my last fight(street fight) actually.
was against 2 guys.

got lucky and knocked the first guy out with one hit as his buddy
jumped me from behind. didnt even see him 8O .

i was able to roll him over and choke him out at about the same
time the first guy was coming too.

oh dont try and pick up that nice wood case with a gimp leg.

after the hit on the fisrt guy i know my hand hurt more than his nose
the next day.

Reply to sirheck

Lol nice. I can agree the hand hurts as bad as the jaw after a solid connection, but luckily we have trainers that tape our hands and that helps a lot. Most people think the gloves are padding, they actually are very rigid and are mainly to prevent cutting your opponent's eyebrow or cheek bone.

hope your leg is ok (should be).
you are young and should recover fast.

and good luck on any contest you enter your case in.
if so let me know which web site and i will join and vote for you

oh something else i just remebered about that fight i got into.

when i was rolling with the second guy on the ground i was trying to poke his eye out and he bit me 8O. that hurt.

i also had a chance to strike his throat and maybe/possibly kill him.

im glad i didnt.

Reply to sirheck

I luckily have only gotten into 3 real fights outside of the cage, ending in a total of 4 swings and 1 rear naked choke. I did get hit with a shovel once, if I had used a shovel to retaliate instead of my fists I may be in jail right now :P

Rematch is tentatively scheduled for March 24th, but being my girlfriend's birthday we might have to adjust. He is a very cocky individual and doesn't take losing well, makes winning that much better :P

Great Job!! Looks really good.

I would have added a little more wooden goodness to the side (still with windows though).

Still very nice.. The wooden side goodness would hide the drive bays maybe? And, act as a handle for the side?

Still very awesome.. How quiet is it?

Reply to Ches111

It is nearly silent. When my room is cool with the windows open it literally is silent. PSU fan barely spins and radiator fans/exhaust fans all drop to 5v. Such good exhaust that the intake often doesn't even run as I have the low limit in BIOS set to 0% and high limit to 60%(7v).

Very very impressive handiwork, you got good grades in woodshop? :) You definitely onto something here!

You... will build me one. In the style of a TJ09 if you could :P

Send me all your parts and I will use them to form the ideas for a case. I promise to send them back in the next 5 years, and promise to leave the forum for one week.

Yea, watch out man. I'm gonna come and slam my forehead into that sore foot. I'll have you begging for mercy even if my face ends up looking like a bag full of pork and beans.

The CPU mag entry idea is a good one. They have a pretty good magazine with some interesting case mods. Your case is looking great!

Reply to clue69less

Thanks man! Guys at the magazine forums thought it may have a chance, but a couple doubters rained on my parade.

Reply to tool_462

You won't know if you don't try. It's like the lame line they use on any kiddies competition: "The more you enter, the more chance you stand of winning" - and here I thought it didn't matter that I only enter once every time...

That's a fine case you have there. Damn, I shoulda built it. I was doing some renovations and am thinking about building a low power unit into an interior wall and have an LCD as a picture frame. If I find a decent monitor with USB ports cheap I may do it yet. Did you have to run ground wires to the various parts?

Reply to muffin

Does CPU magazine still have "The Mad Modder" dude? He was a good read.

Reply to muffin

It boots and runs perfectly with no grounding wires, but I neatly hid some copper braid just to be safe.

I think The Mad Modder is still around, the email I sent to was madreadermod@cpu.com or something close.

Excellent job!

Gives me some ideas as well. I've been thinking of doing some experimenting on some old cases just to get comfortable with this type of thing before trying anything serious. Come on warm weather, no heat in my shop hehe.

Cool! Keep us posted! Don't pray for warm weather... no outside overclocking adventures!

Looks great, and I like the idea of having the radiator in a seperate compartment, and 120mm fans all around must be nice(I'm stuck with several noisy 80mm that don't cool well :( but I'm on the lookout for a new case ) . I would have gone with acrylic to mount the drives on rather than metal, but I have an obsession with acrylic :D

Reply to jt001

That was the original plan, but it was just so nice and smooth to be able to put my HDD's on their little carriages and be able to slide them in and out of whatever slot I want.

Nice job id buy one.

Reply to shata

 Only me dropping out of school or a price offered that would suddenly free up some time would lead to production of cases similar to mine. College kid with 5 classes and double major, living away from home and with girlfriend on weekends has little time to be meddling in case building :P $$$ changes everything though.

Reply to tool_462

Looks good! Reminds me of my parents' RCA TV when I was younger - the kind that was enclosed in wood and sat on the floor. Couldn't decide if it was electronics or furniture :)
