And how much is that again?

$651 according to Newegg. That's just to keep it at LOW ENOUGH POWER.

And that's the usual laptop chip prices. Intel makes money because they sell at prices market can absorb, and AMD doesn't as much since they price it significantly lower than that(like 1/2, 1/3).

So you mean the market COULDN'T absorb 2005 prices?

Anyway, I shouldn't have gone off topic.

The inquirer isn't "News". It's "Specualtion".

I hope AMD can get this stuff out the door. I'm dying to see K8L. I hope it's a Conroe Killer.

Their's no way it'll be a Conroe killer. At best K8L will match it and with Penryn around the corner, it will not be long lived.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, AMD needs to design a new core from scratch.
Alright then, WHY? If you want to say that Amd is a bastard and cannot produce a product that beat's Intel's (I notice you have a Conroe, a little protective are we?) then tell me why you think that. Evidence to say that, because k8l isn't out yet so I'd like to see how you can say this.

Does that T7600 beat the FX-62 when it's put in a desktop socket M board with a desktop chipset (e.g. that nearly $300 AOpen 975X unit) desktop RAM, a desktop HDD or HDDs, and a desktop video card or does it beat the FX-62 when it's sitting in some notebook?

My guess is the former, not the latter. The T7600 in a notebook will do well at tests that are CPU-bound but not very memory-intensive, such as SuperPi and encoding. As soon as a test involves much for graphics or HDD I/O, a notebook with the T7600 will slow down a ton. Most notebooks have IGPs, and the ones that do have discrete cards tend to have ones that are low to at best midrange units on the desktop. (Note that I am talking about *notebooks,* not SFF desktops with integrated screens and UPSes like the 15-pound behemoths with SLi GPUs and RAID that I am sure will be brought up later.) Also, most notebooks ship with single HDDs in the 80-120 GB range and 5400 rpm. Some have 7200 rpm drives, but even the fastest 7200 rpm notebook drive is a bit slower than a cheap, small desktop drive, let alone good desktop drives.

I hope that the Barcelona core has the potential to kick intels butt.Intel has been the most dominant of the two companies for years now,and although AMD did take the performance crown from them for a few years,AMD is deserving of that crown.I have to admit that INTEL has produced an awesome cpu line this time around, and taking back the crown was inevitable. However,AMD has shown repeatedly that it can produce great performance per dollar processors.I believe that their aquiring ATI is a good thing and we will soon see the benefits of said purchase.

i know any pro- amd news about the K8L is considered a mortal sin here... mainly because there are no scores of the K8L yet...
thats said take it for what its worth

I always hope that whichever company is behind has a rabbit up their sleeve.

A year ago an FX-60 was a $1000+ part, now you can by a $315 E6600 that outruns it.

If AMD builds a $300 chip that outruns an EX6800, I'll be just as happy to buy that chip.

I really don't care who makes it, I just want the most I can get for the money I got to spend.

I hope Barcelona rocks. I hope Perynam (SP?) rocks, I hope AMD and Intell leapfrog eachother like nVidea and ATI have been doing for years.

I am a fanboy of my own budget and my own pocket book.

The Inquirer is often right, often wrong. we will see....
