hm,your right...im guna give up my life as a boreing stock broker, and go be the lead engineer at AMD! I mean, sure my design wouldnt work, and if it did happen to work, it would cost 3000 dollars to buy, and be outperformed by a fx5300 le, but its the revolution of the design that matters!

lol, yeah,my napkin design was similar, i was trying to draw the core for the first p4 from memory after it was shown, and it was totaly wrong

lol,but ofcoarse it does..the mighty task manager is a program that can bring any computer to its knees......by hitting the shut off button... 8)

Very interesting. I wonder how many people realise Intel has nothing to compete against this "teraflop in a box" by AMD (unless you count the 80 core vision proposed by Intel recently. Are 80 cores really necessary?).

 I thought that "teraflop in a box" was mandatory for the next version of windows

AMD has shown no benchmarks to prove what they are saying, that was my point. AMD says they have a masive stream proccessor in the works, so does nvidia, thats my point. Nvidia has shown the g80, has shown what it can do, and how it can be used in stream cpmputeing, AMD has done none of this, only shown a computer, that may, or may not, be doing what they say it will. I didnt listen to the c2d hype, until after the benchmarks, and I was wrong. OTOH, i refuse to trust, just becouse they say it, if they show benchmarks, from a source other then themselves, I will trust it. AMD has proven, nor shown anything. When they do, I will trust the benchmarks, not a company that has shown it is in trouble, and has no solution to fix it
ahh sory, the link of info regarding the g80 teraflop computer
http://www.tgdaily.com/2007/02/16/nvidia_cuda/

No, see, AMD demonstrated the teraflop computer doing what it does, computing at the teraflop level.  That's what everyone is posting about.  AMD isn't just showing off a system.  They showed off a demo of it working.

plans, I want to know if it was fast, baby!
Here:
It was more a system to show of teraflop computing with two r600's.  But it still had Barcelona's running it.

wow amti's core 2 copy! (I saw that today in the forums)

the r600 is a dream or myth no such chip exists - 6 months is a lifetime in the computer world. I see claims that amti is holding back the r600 so they can release the low end gpu's too! omg what a joke.

the r600 was scheudle for release in 2006  now its may - heck you can design a hole chip and ship it in that time frame!

Is it?

Could you take an IQ test so we can officially call you an idiot? IE, Idiot = 25= squirrel.

AMD has shown nothing, no bench showing that it runs realy fast, they have shown a computer runing task manager...and they have shown a seti screen, showing what a unamed procesor has done...no real benches...

but those seti numbers were so crazy i think all quadcore (and above) should be required to dist computing

Profile: enthusiast
More Information

they were indeed high, but for all we know, that comp has been doing that for a year, for all we know, it is a quadfx system, remeber that program amd was talking about makeing? the one that let multiple cores work on one thread togethor? they never released it, but what if they did finish it? I will trust teraflop, when ihave a benchmark from a source who doesnt work for the company who designed it

1 Tflop does seem to be little exageration but AMD feel free to prove me wrong

the tflop is actualy doable I think, as Nvidia is saying they are getting the same numbers..only gues what? they are useing a kentsfield...and gues what?Nvidia says k10 owns kentsfield...and r600 owns g80...so my thinking is that the demo hurt AMD more then helped, cause it put them at almost equal to what Nvidia got, on supposedly weaker hardware..hardware that is about to be upgraded btw
