I have to say I also love seeing others custom rigs and there are alot of very nice builds on this thread. I hope more post and keep it going, because I love all the pics and the ideas that come from them for noobs just getting into the hobby. Kept the pics coming guys, and for all those that posted their pics already, very nice guys.

Some really gorgeous rigs here; I hope mine can compete for some attention lol. Spent most of this years' summer putting this together... cost me a lil under $4000 total for everything. This is my first custom (self) built computer btw. I'm rather proud of myself for not destroying anything expensive.

Specs/Parts:

NZXT Lexa Blackline Case
ASUS P5Q-E Motherboard
OCZ 'Fatal1ty' 700W PSU
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ ~3.6 GHz
OCZ Gladiator CPU Cooler
8 GB (4x2 GB) OCZ Platinum Series 1066 MHz (PC-8500) Memory
2x ATI Radeon HD 4890 (XFX & Sapphire) @ 910 MHz / 1050 MHz
Windows Vista Ultimate x64
3x Samsung Syncmaster 24" Monitors
Logitech G15 Keyboard
Razer Lachesis Mouse, on Steelseries Frosted Glass Mouse Pad ($50 mouse pad.. definitely worth it)
Logitech G51 Speakers

I'm using SoftTH to run games (ie. L4D, Bioshock, COD 4, CS:S, etc.) in 5760x1200... not intending on picking up a TH2G atm because of the low resolution cap on it

First time overclocking as well... decided to stop at 3.6 for the processor because... well.. I'm just not a patient guy lol and I got fed up having to test the thing for like 4 hours after each little change for the sake of stability.

Anyway, thanks for checkin it out guys tell me what you think! ^^

Hey Kalidian,

Looks really nice man. Love the tri monitor setup.

Reply to medjohnson77

lol, 4k? haha, i feel bad for you. I got what you have x4 and it cost me 850.00

Reply to pluke the 2

all of that for $850? the tower alone would at best cost you at least $1300... add three 24" monitors, speakers, the g15, lachesis mouse... =P plus whatever "x4" means... 12 monitors... 4 towers, 4 processors.. 32 gigs of ram.. etc.

whatever man feel bad all you want; im happy as a clam and loving my computer, and i didnt have to eat small children to get "x4" of the parts, probably in the ass end of some sweat shop in China.

but.. in the positive spirit of this forum topic, congrats to you all the same. maybe post some pics? =P

I didnt buy all the parts at the same time, i just upgraded the mobo and CPU this month. before i had a Gigabyte P35-DS3L and a Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 2.66GHz. my Gigabyte mobo died so decided to get a new p55 mobo and an i5.

the i5,MSI P55-CD53 & Corsair XMS3 4GB RAM was about $390 on newegg.

the rest of the hardware (save for the GTX 260 which i got in december 08 for $200, the soundcard and DVD drives which was from a recycled rig.), including the PSU which is a OCZ GameXStream 600W, i had purchased in december 2007 for about $570.

so total is about $1100.

i took my time on the wire management, using zipties and shrink tubing, carefully routing the wires towards the back to improve airflow.

heres a pic of the rear where i routed all the wires to:
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a94/Jerry003/i5_rig_rear.jpg

this case only came with 1 front 80mm fan and 1 rear 120mm fan. i attached a 120mm fan in 3 empty lower bay drives via zipties:

Here's my combination engineering/gaming rig:

-Antec 1200
-i7-965 EE cooled with a TRUE black
-P6T deluxe
-Corsair HX-1000W
-12GB Corsair Dominator DDR3-1600 7-8-7-22
-4 HDDs - 1 Intel X25-M 80GB OS drive, 2 300GB Velociraptors in RAID 0 for apps, and 1 1000GB Caviar Black for general storage
2 Sapphire HD4870x2 in CFX
1 X-fi Titanium PCI-E
LG Blu-Ray Burner
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (as of yesterday :D)

The cable management isn't bad, but I definitely didn't spend as long as some people to get it just right - I did it mostly to help airflow.

Sorry about the terrible image quality - this was taken with my cell phone. I'll get a better one as soon as I can with my normal camera (which I don't have right now).

Hey cjl, I was wondering.. if you were to do a virus scan, would you have to scan all 3 drives? Or just the apps and general storage (Or best yet, just general storage?).
I am considering buying multiple drives for the OS and for everything else.

Thanks!

It's a good idea to scan all 3 volumes. Viruses could hide on any one of them. There are plenty of other good reasons to get multiple drives though.

Yeah, we all must be a rare %, because when I tell people I work with and family about my custom builds and water cooling, or start talking about tech, its like I am talking in french to them. LOL.

There are some really nice rigs on here, I am starting to get the itch to design and build another case and, start shopping for the next custom build I want to put together.

thats cool, goodluck for your new project =) I'm looking forward to see that.

Hey Tecmo34, I was just curious, I see that your PSU is upside down (fan up) as it should be for a bottom mount, but that all your labels are upright. Did you flip them, or did they come that way? Thanks.
