I have alot of my builds here I do them on the side for me and a couple friends, One is a guy named Andy who is going to georgia tech he heard about my gaming builds from one of his friends, kevin, which I played WoW with a couple of months. he mentioned me to Andy when Andy was parts shopping. Andy sent me a list of what he wanted. I basically told him he could do much better for the money. going with an EVG AKIMBO 8800GT 1GB 2GB of 1066MHZ Gskill memory with nice heatsinks. Also a c2d E8400 and a PC-Power and Cooling PSU 750 Watt all hooked up to a 750i SLI FTW. The Classic Antec 900 Case. A mini ninja scythe (due to me shipping it I didn't go with the full for fear of it bouncing. It's a robust gaming machine that's built to last and handle many upgrades for years to come. it's base overllocked "safe" speed I sent it to him set at was 3.8GHZ and it runs windows at 4.5GHZ. I was able to post it at 4.83GHZ screenshot included. had a superpi-mod score of 10.313 seconds on the 1m setting.
Andy's build is under "Mooses Build" as that is what he calls himself.
I also built one for a Air Force Raptor tech last year he had a Extreme QX6700 unlocked. Naturally 1066 Corsair XMS2 We went with a silverstone TJ09 black case. I had to mod it to mount both radiators within the case. there is a double 120mm DD on the top exhaust. and a single 120mm on the intake. (I reversed the fan as silverstone had it set to exhaust out the middle front vent through the sides). SLI EVGA Overclocked 320MB 8800GTS's This build we dubbed "SR71" as it had the clean black formed lines with black coolant. We have it running at 3.6GHZ. The goal was to play his flight sim with an extremely high resolution.
I build Extreme Gaming machines for high profile clients wanting the best.
I am currently working on a cascade phase change system for another client.
I've been a fan of tom's for years. good to see you recognizing some of what makes you great Tom.

You can see my water cooled rig at http://www.hydrabolt.com/ - this one is a pure AMD Spider platform with a MSI K9A2 Platinum motherboard, FOUR Radeon HD 3870 cap-modded, volt-modded (to 1.7V) and running at 1000/1275 (stock is 777/1126). In addition the NB, SB, VRM, and memory are also all water cooled. 95% Koolance parts on the cooling. System runs 38C idle and 44C load. And yes I am looking forward to the 45nm Socket AM2+ desktop CPUs so I can actually push these cards to their limit. I don't think I have really done that yet with the Phenom at 2950MHz.
So I work in IT, and we have this computer built mainly for HD Video editing. Its running two INTEL QX9775 Core 2 Extreme's, two BFG GTX 280's, 8 15k rpm SAS drives in raid, 10gbs ram. It's fast... Read spead of 800+Mb/s write spead of 300+Mb/s I forget what benchmark we ran for the CPU but it had the highest rating in the country. I can check later if anyone actually cares.
So heres some pictures of the crazy fast computer i was talking about, it had just 1 card in it at the time. And it was 3D Mark that we used to test the CPU.
does this count as a rig? the computer was hand built but the parts are getting old. X2 4200 processor 80GB HDD 2GB RAM 7950 GT OC Video card
The speakers are 4 x 8 inch subs, 2 x 10 inch subs, 4 tweeters and 2 midrange. Monitor is a Sharp Aquos 42 inch TV. desk is a 6' banquet table. awesome and sturdy...(recommended!!!!!)
chair is just a leather lounge chair I think. OH and the foot stool is micro fiber

Hey All. I’m new here but I love to share my mods.
I am currently working on a new mod from an antec 300 case.
I am not completely sure what way I am going but I have some ideas. I have been looking at different fan controllers because the case holds 4 - 120mm fans and 1 – 140 fan. The problem with all of this is they all look the same. So I decided to make my own. Here is the progress of that adventure
Here is my start case. Plain old Antec 300 case… Kind of boring huh?
Lets play
Standard 5.25 slot cover in the case. Good place to start to keep the flow of the case going.
Ok, I have 4 holes drilled here on the outsides for my toggles and 4 for my LEDs. Not to mention the 4 holes to mount the prototype board I have to use to solder all my resisters, LEDs and wires to. *note the tan PC board threw 4 of the holes*
I could take you threw each step, but I’m going to jump to the main parts. If requested, I will go into more detail.
Ok, here’s my board with all the Wires, LEDs and resistors soldered to it.
Here is one of my Toggle switches wired up and I added the green loom over the wires to help with air flow and it just looks better. =)
Next I had to install the toggle switches and LED holders. I painted my 5.25 cover and mounted the things needed.
I installed the blue LEDs finished wiring and installed to PC. Notice the LEDs work when switch’s are up. They will be off at night when I turn all my fans and lights off at night so I can sleep without feeling I’m at a disco or something.
Next I want to cut a picture into the side of my case. I found one I liked a lot, so I blew it up drew it on my case and got ready to cut.
This is what I have decided to go with. Its going to be a little work but I feel its well worth it.
I have started to Cut the pic out of my case and I ran into a small problem… My darn dermal burnt up. I started hutting and the next thing I knew my hand was feeling like it was on fire… I took my dermal apart to try to repair it, no luck.
So now I have a Fan controller and a unfinished cut into the side of my case… I have to go shopping… Hope the wife will let me *grin*
I am about to have another son in Jan so all my cash is going to him. I will get the new dermal ASAP and get back to work. Hope to post again soon!

Why is my mod EXTREME? Well, this mod has an EXTREME amount of power per cubic inch, quite possibly the most in the WORLD!
This is my 1U mod (Case Dimension is: 11D"x17W"x1.75H" ). My goal was to fit a FULL POWER (yet near silent and FULLY upgradeable) gaming desktop, in a case that is 0.18 cubic feet. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!
The specs are:
-250W PSU
-ATI HD3870 GPU
-200GB 7200RPM 2.5" SATA HD
-2GB DDR2 667 Ram
- E6600 Dual Core CPU
-External USB DVD RW Optical Drive (connects via my LCD internal USB HUB)
-8x40mm NEAR SILENT cooling fans (under 30db)
-CPU Cooler is a 80mm near silent blower type fan (under 30db even under full load).
All in 1U Supermicro Case!
Also, notice the 4 port DVI (with audio and USB) KVM under-desk mounted? That is so I can switch to my work laptop, which is docked under the desk and on top of my filing cabinet.
Here are the pics:

if you click the first picture you can just view the rest of the pictures on my webshots account easily, rather than clicking each of these links
Case Design Top half of case design, <3 Nvidia Logo Bottom Half of case design Mostly through carving of case with dremmel tool The tower and partially carved case next to it. Please note my first mod of the case was the half life symbol on top and the 120mm fan addition. Those were destroyed in the making of this mod. The finished case, Paint ground off, Plexiglass Bolted on with some sweet screws. Nvidia Logo finished <3 Bottom Half of case finished the 3x120mm fans plus radiator sitting ontop of the case, not attached fan holes for the radiator, cut into the case.
I had a hard drive crash at this point and no longer have the original images, but thankfully i posted most of them on xoxide, so you will note from here on down they have their logo on the pics
Well, this is mild compared to some here, but at least I like it.
Built from scratched and custom painted metallic ruby red.
Also in photo 4 & 5 I used a mirror so you can see the GPU that always hides the best looking part at the bottom...
I haven't seen anyone do this yet.
(The 26" monitor makes the case look smaller than it is.)
I really, really hate it when you get the nice looking GPU and you can't see it when installed!
Here is where you can actually see the nice part of the GPU once it is installed!
This was when I was running a single 4870.
Thanks for looking.D

I change cases a week ago to the Antec 900. I painted it to match my monitor, a subtle red.
I also added another 4870 & 1050W PSU & 2x2GB 1600 memory.
Lot's of photo's here:

So I was walking around the local hardware surplus store this past week and came across an idea I couldn't pass up. I came across a an industrial blower fan, and the best part was it was cheap . . . only $20
I got this home only to realize that it required a 3 phase 240V power, not to be discouraged by America's lack of 240V power, except maybe the dryer outlet . . . But I like my dryer where it is, so it was back to the store to pick up a transformer! Long story short I neglected checking the KVA output, only focusing that it converted the proper voltages, this led to it outputting only half the ampsvolts needed (only .1KVA), and after a short while running it overheated and melted, made a nasty smell about the apartment in the process. Back to the store again, this time I checked all the power requirements, not wanting a repeat of the previous transformer I made sure the new one would be able to supply 2 times the required power, .5KVA!
Drop this new transformer into an old case a friend just gives you, slap on the twin turbine, and you have yourself a case blowing enough air through it to inflate a wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man!
