Last message on previous page: FishBoi, this sounds cheap, but you don't really have to install 2 versions. Just copy the WoW folder to a different location and presto. Should work. (was too lazy to install the game on my laptop, so I zipped it, copied it over, unzipped it, and played it).
My girlfriend loves games... just on consoles *shudders*
On side note, my friend last night came up with something ingeneous about women!
Man can not understand woman because woman can not understand themselves!
Anyways, Virtual Machines are primarly used for "multitasking" with diferrent OSes, that don't require heavy GPU processing.
Another side note, does anyone know how to get VMWare to use both of my cores instead of one?
JonIsGinger: PREY is crap!!! Glad I got a copy from a friend rather than paying for it! I had more fun with Quake IV and Doom 3 than PREY!
AHHAHAHAHAHA. No seriously guys, I wanna get this worked out. How come everyone here seems to know so much, but when one wants to know the ssiiiimmmplleesttt thing, its a no go.
Anyone, anyone? Buellleerr?
So you want to retool Windows to do something that's completely outside the scope of what it's meant to do and that's a "simple" thing? Haha. How would Windows even know how to handle the inputs? What about window focus, clicks, etc? It's not going to work. And if it does I bet it would be some buggy hack anyway.
Even in Linux, you cannot virtualize a 3D app. ..... Just because it's possible in OSX does not make it possible in XP. ..... DirectX is a whole different animal.
..... If you are so confident it is possible, here is a a place to start: www.google.com
Don't keep prodding everyone to help when you've already asked several times and you've already received several responses regarding what obstacles are in the way of doing this.
and why not? independant mouse / keyboard functionality on the machine... interactive gaming capable... network capable... what else is he looking for? Audio? you can add a USB sound-solution (or second sound card) and set outputs for the second audio-device... so why not? can't run 2 instances of WoW on the same machine?
Add VMWare w/ Beta 3D support (which works on most modern cards) and then controlling it from the BeTwin software. Am I missing something? His first post seems to be pretty clear that this is what he's trying to achieve. Fill me in on something if I missed an important post between all the "It can't be dones" and "Spend more time with your girlfriend" posts.
To all the nay sayers - why dont you for format yourself. AHHAHAHAHA. I wish I could just ban guys from this post that have nothing of value to add, whether it can or cannot be done. Please just relax guys and have fun. I dig a challenge, and this is one.
One thing I didnt think about, which is reall fricken dumb, is that how do you keep two windows active at the same time. When you click on a second window, it grabs that window, and even a G52 will not work in the original window, unless you go back and grab it with the mouse (make sense?)
To the guy that said his buddy had one setup - can you explain this?
PS. I called Microsoft, and no ETA on MS Multipoint. There is a SDK out for people who want to create apps, but as for being incorporated into Windows itself - no ETA. I hope its real soon!

did my post help? the software solution, BeTwin 2000/XP seems to be right up your alley in terms of independant window/interface options...
Also, in regards to this recent post about keeping two active windows at once... some applications, though not always active, are always aware... For example, Flash applications (the advertising face with eyes that follow your mouse no matter where it is on the screen) those can be programmed to follow your mouse cursor, regardless of if the window is active. I don't see why this couldn't be implimented to grab mouse actions along with mouse position, as well as keyboard input from a specified source. I've used console emulators to spawn 4 characters on a screen at once and controlled all of them from a single mouse and keyboard (i love those flight games like AeroFighters for SNES) so emulating keystrokes and such (like a keylogging trojan) should be doable as well...
for all you people that say it can't be done, I say more power to FishBoi once he triumphs, and flaming poo in a bag on your doorstep when he gets it done.

So when his PC is the equivalent of a trs-80 I should expect a flaming pag of poop on my door step? Theres not going to be any WOW servers in 2040. but gl

Did your post help? Dude, I'm busy reading through the BeTwin website with so much anticipation you dont understand. I've spent the hole day trying to work this out!!! I dont want to get too excited just quite yet, wanna call the company to make sure. TruRomeo4Juliet, if its that simple, you are a GD fricken legend my man. That's what my post about "focus" was about. It'll be hard to get Windows to interpret those inputs properly and keep both windows active. I think that you could do it with a customized virtual machine (just assign mouse/keyboard to the virtual machine so that even though that window isn't active those inputs are still going to the VM). But, as others have mentioned current virtual machine solutions don't support 3D.
