you did nice with a 6000+ i don't have amd so i cant really give u any results

I wish everyone at my high school could be mature enough to talk PC hardware not just gaming. You're unique... just like everyone else.
hey man, i have the same processor, and I OCed my to 3.2 yesterday at that joker got at 71 C. Waaaay too hot, what are the settings that you are running at, like multiplier HT, voltage, and all that good stuff.
I wanna do what ya did, but want it staaable. lemme know man. greatly appreciated.
Sure fella, some of it is seen in pic but to clear things up a bit here goes:
Vcore @ 1.55
Ram V upped 0.2 volts (1.8 STD now 2.0) & (tightened)<-- helped SuperPi times and adds maybe 50-100 to 3Dmark06
HT V upped 0.10
Northbridge V upped 0.10
HT x4 STD @ 1140 MHz happily RAM 1:1 (400 STD @ 427.5 or 800 STD @ 855 depending on how you look at it) <-- The Ram V is what held me back@ 3.2
FSB 228 MHz
Quick boot Off
Spectrum Off
MSI K9A Crossfire mobo
Cooled with Thermalright Ultra 120 & AS5 mounted horzontally to blow into the Antec 900's massive exhaust fan.
thanks bro, im gonna try this when i get home from work. I had at it at 3.2 last night, and when i was playin COD4 it just turned off on me. I checked the temp in the bios and i was sitting at like 73 C, thats BLAZING HOT!!!
lets see what happens. i know i should be at 3.2 stable at least, and 3.4 is my goal.
I have my 6000+ running stable at 3.2 Thats bus speed 214MHz and Core voltage 1.312.
I'd like to go higher but thought I should probably get a better than stock cooler first. Right now my system sits at 40C while its just chillin during internet browsing. Think I should go for it? And if it crashes just go back and invet in the cooler?
Sounds like you need to invest in a good cooler first, 40 C idle is quite high for X2's. I always think getting the absolute most out of your kit is a must .
Hi closed deal, I really would like to overclock my 6000+ to 3.2GHz or 3.4GHz running stable, If I have a decent CPU cooler already, what do you reccommend I do to accieve this in the most efficient way, I would even like to do what you did, but what are the different vcore, FSB, HT, RAM settings etc that I need to change. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
[#0000ff]Setup: CPU-AMD64 X2 6000+ with Thermaltake GoldenOrb 2
M/B-ASUS M2N-E SLI with latest BIOS and drivers
RAM-Corsair TwinX 2x 1GB DDR2 6400 with heatspreaders
VGA-nVidia 8800GTS 640MB with latest drivers
OS-Vista Ultimate 32bit
PSU-SuperFlower 600W with detachable cables
This really depends on how effective your cooler is, as your Asus mobo should be up to the task:
First raise vcore to 1.5volts total. (1.56v is mine atm.)
Raise your RAM voltage an additional 0.2 volts. (ie. 1.8v STD 2.0v o/c)
Boot pc make sure temps are still good .
Restart to Bios again, this time raise the FSB in increments of 5 Mhz followed by a restart and a 'Orthos' 10 min run. Again watch the temps.
Repeat until unstable then back off 1Mhz at a time till Orthos has no errors.
Your RAM should be fine at a 1:1 ratio, and your Asus mobo should be ok with the HT at x5 (Normal/Auto). If not:
- Raise your northbridge voltage the minimum you can (ie. my mobo min increment is 0.1v with both Northbridge and HT) and same with HT voltage. - Ram would just need the 'Ratio' changed or 800 to 667Mhz or lower depending on mobo. If that doesn't work maybe loosening timings from 5-5-5 to 6-6-6 (CAS - RAS to CAS - RAS) or (tCL-tRCD-tRP) again depending on your bios.
Taking into account my FSB is only 228Mhz this is a fairly quick stable overclock. Now your CPU is overclocked try tightening the RAM timings, if you've been able to leave them alone to get achived O/C .
Just got my little beauty to 3.5Ghz stable , thought she should do it. Just had to raise Vcore tad more then lower multiplier, the RAM and reset the timings. (Taught me not to skimp on cheap ram). Temps are still good but now 31 Idle @ Load reaches 49-53. Just hope the Phenom after the new stepping, overclocks just aswell!
Hey quick question. I just upped my fsb to 210 just to see how id go. I have cool and quiet on and so it throttles the multiplier and voltages. Now the multiplier is fine, it hits 15 and i get 3.15ghz but the voltage only gots to 1.36v max. Is that enough? Is there any way i can set a higher max rather than setting a permenant voltage?
Cheers -Z
EDIT: Also i didnt change the HT link or anything because i read you arent supposed to unless it goes over 1250. Nor did i change any memory speeds or anything (i have ddr2 800). Is that ok? Sorry i know theres guides and stuff but you have pretty much the same setup as i do =D. Also im gettin about 51C with a arctic cooling 64 HSF, seems a bit much, normally my cpu runs way cooler than that =( Upping the voltage will only make it hotter wont it?
