DID that and it still didnt work. I think it might be my ram, especially because it won't work on the rated timings(4-4-4-12).

Has anyone ever been successful in achieving a Trd value lower than 7 on the P35-DS3L board?

Reply to Steffche

^AFAIK, a VERY few at XS have managed it on a E6600/E4300. Ran Prime95 only ~ 8hrs.

I managed to tweak my RAM last night to achieve a Trd value of 5!

My DDR800 RAM is running at 4-5-5-15 and DDR500 (2:50 Mem divider), FSB at 400Mhz, E2160 x8 = 3.2Ghz

Prime Stable for over 8 hours.

It took a lot of trials, it wouldn't post on many of the attempts, and I kept on thinking it was related to insufficient vMCH, but in the end it was my RAM voltage that required a hefty boost.

In the end I finished up with +0.1 vMCH, +0.1 vFSB and +0.4 vDIMM (my RAM is rated at 1.8v!!!)

Touching the NB heatsink and RAM heatspreaders, and they feel surprisingly luke warm. I expected my RAM to be burning hot at this voltage, but it wasn't so.

I have the cheap Supertalent value DDR800 2GB kit...(Silver aluminium heatspreaders).

Anyway...after performing benchmark tests with Passmark I noticed considerable improvement in Memory write times, and slight improvements in all other Memory tests.

I tried going for 4-4-4-12 timings, but just couldn;t get the thing to post...and I'm not game enough to try any more vDIMM...

Steve.

so i just started overclocking and i love it.

Computer:
Motherboard: ep35-ds3l
cpu: e2140
ram: g.skill ddr2 1066(1gx2)

so far i have been able to oc to 2.66 on stock vid and run p95 for 8 hrs+ but i cant get it past 2.66, i've tried uping the vid and fsb voltage but nothing works..sometimes it just wont start and then resets itself or it boots but when it comes time to loading the windows xp logo and loading its just a black screen and thats it...no loading of xp at all. please advise.

is it my ram? http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produ [...] 6820231144

ps. i have set everything the way it was outlined on the first page of the thread in my F5 bios

1. Is the RAM voltage @ 2.1v?

2. Have you set the RAM SPD to 2?

3. Have you tried increasing MCH voltage?

yea the ram is set to 2.1V and SPD is set to 2 and i did try increasing MCH but didnt have much luck...the system is stable at 2.66 ghz running prime 95 for 8 hrs and i have got it to work at about 2.75 ghz but the moment i push my fsb to 350mhz i get the comp to boot but abt 3 mins into windows a blue screen comes up and the comp restarts its self.

ideally i did want it at 3.0ghz but maybe i'll have to settle for 2.66?

^What's your CPU VID?

Also did you install DES?

(Please note the problem could be RAM. There are known problems with DS3x boards and DDR2 1066 RAM).

^If that's possible go for it.

edit:

Here is some good DDR2 800 RAM:

That RAM is able to hit DDR2 1100 with 2.2-2.3v and 5-5-5-15 timing.

hi guys i been trying to overclock my e4300 on my P35 ds3l without this guide and with it.

but i have this problem:

the cpu multiplier will always go back to 6.

i put it on 7-9 on the bios save the changes and then once on windows it goes back to 6 if i go back to the bios the multiplier wont be 6 but the amount i left it before.

now as a extra data i see on cpuz the the multiplier will change to what the bios says for just like 1 sec then go back to 6 so when this happens i get the extra mhz i should get.

another thing since the multiplier goes always back to 6x if i leave my fsb on default my e4300 will go around 1.2ghz =( thats really shamefull

this that could help

mobo: ga p35 ds3l rev 1.0 bios version F8f(haved this problem before and after using this bios)
cpu: e4300 with stock hsf
ram: AData ddr2 800 manufacturer recomend volt for this is 1.8

hope someone can help me =) and sorry if i made any spelling mistake D:

nvm guys i disable the speedstep options XD from the bios now the multiplier wont fluctuate xD

happy overclocker here XD

Hello. I am trying to overclock my e2180 @ 2.00 GHz to a safe OC with stock cooling. Maybe 2.8-30? Is 3.2 dangerous on stock cooling?

Also my EP35-DS3L came with the F4 bios. I downloaded the F5 bios from their website. How should I go about flashing the bios? I read something about using Q-flash. I formatted a flash drive as FAT. Should I just put the autoexec, ep35ds3l, and FLASHSPI files onto the flash drive and boot up pressing whatever button it is for Q-Flash?

Also I am using one stick of this ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820231121
Here are pics of my bios currently:

Please let me know what the safest settings would be! Thanks :D

I would say read the guide, then put the max multiplier possible and start increasing the fsb by 50 maybe and do some stability and temp tests to see if its safe to keep it like that.

No, you should only need the ep35ds3l file if using QFlash.

I've been OC'ing with the F4 bios so far and it's holding all of my changes. I decided to do 9x333 for a safe overclock. I kept the vcore the same as normal cpu vcore and got the BSOD twice while playing CSS. I
ve been slowly upping the vcore from base to about 1.4 each time it BSOD's. Is there anything else I can do?

Yes, I've done all that. I think the problem isnt the OC it's just that steam is really unstable in vista. The hl2.exe has stopped responding in vista seems to be very popular.

Reply to Goran

^Yeah, I thought so too. Have you tried running Steam in compatibility mode?
Also did you Prime95?

I have a GA-EP35-DS3L and can't manage to get it past 387fsb. I'm using an e5200 with a 2x2gb G.Skill ddr800 kit. I've tried the f6a and f5 bioses and tried voltages ranges on the ddr2, fsb, and mch in various combinations from +0.1V to +0.3V. I've tried tRD values from 3 to 25. No matter what I do, I haven't seen it post past 387. I'm able to run 3.5ghz at 333x10.5 and, if it's a cpu fsb wall, it's not that big a deal since this thing goes up to 12.5x but I would like to use 400 if possible. Any suggestions?

Reply to Alatar1313

What CPU voltage are you running and what is your CPU VID? Also it appears that most E5xxx users are only able to get to 3.4-3.6Ghz without insane voltages. It looks to me like it's a CPU limitation.

Hey, just got myself a new e7300 for my p35-s3l and figured I'd share my results so far.

Currently running @ 3.7ghz with an AC7 HSF. FSB 370, obviously, with 1.45v. Haven't had it long enough to do serious testing, but the blend stress test in prime went 2 hours without error. I have been able to get it up to 3.8 into windows with a 1.46v setting, but it bluescreened shortly after. I tried to go for 4ghz, but the voltage was getting past 1.5, so I backed off. It would POST, but bluescreen before even loading the user login screen. 1.43v was still causing errors in prime95, so maybe I could lower the voltage to 1.44 from 1.45, but it seems to be working fine and with the vdrop/droop, its right at 1.4v under load.

Temps are ~39 idle, ~54 full

Using the version 7 bios.

Robust Graphic Booster = AUTO
CPU Clock Ratio = 9 X
CPU Frequency = 3
CPU Host Clock Control = Enabled
CPU Host Frequency (Mhz) = 333
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) = 100
C.I.A.2 = Disabled
Performance Enhance = Standard
System Memory Multiplier (SPD) = 2.00
Memory Frequency (Mhz) 800 = 533

************** ************

System Voltage Control = Manual
DDR2 OverVoltage Control = Normal
PCI-E OverVoltage Control = Normal
FSB OverVoltage Control = ?
(G) MCH OverVoltage Control = Normal
CPU Voltage Control = ?
Normal CPU Vcore = 1.2875

Read the guide already just need help with some stuff.

I am trying to get a 1:1 FSB:DRAM ratio.

My questions/concerns:

1.

The Best OC choice? Most easy to meet without throwing away Performance and not very risky.

A - Overclock : 2.4Ghz(266Mhz FSB) --> 3.0Ghz(333Mhz FSB)
Underclock Memory : 800Mhz(400Mhz X 2) --> 667Mhz(333Mhz)

= 1:1

B - Overclock : 2.4Ghz(266Mhz FSB) --> 3.6Ghz(400Mhz FSB)
Memory @ 800Mhz(400Mhz X 2) *Default

= 1:1

C - Underclock Memory : 800Mhz(400Mhz X 2) --> 533Mhz(266Mhz X 2)
*View Sig for Memory Modules*
Got 1:1 using this. However, I noticed that VISTA only scored my memory a 5.6. No Increase from when it was 2:3 ratio.

2. The guide says to set 'System Memory Multiplier' to '2.0'. When I do that, it changes the 'Memory Frequency' to '533', which will be a problem if I would be doing 'A' or 'C' above.

3. I still dont get how to set 'FSB OverVoltage'. Any tips on where I should start?

4. 'CPU Voltage Control' - I have seen the guide about OC'ing Core 2 Duo/Quad. The writer managed to reach it at these voltages more or less. 1.2xxV. Should I just use that value and start from there? UP or DOWN?

Latest stable results (10 hours prime95).

3.6ghz @ 1.435v.

using 4gb of 5-5-5-15 gskill 6400, rated for 1.8 to 1.9 volts.
Rate set at 2.3 (or 2.4 I can't remember, whichever one is the step above 2.0)

No voltages changed except for the CPU atm.

1.4 was unstable, crashed prime in 2 hours.

--
So, my question is, would overvolting a different component, perhaps the FSB, allow me to decrease the amount of voltage to my CPU, or increase the FSB speed, or would it be pointless?

Was really hoping for closer to 4ghz, but if its gonna take over 1.5v on the CPU, I don't have the balls for it.

Reply to crystalklear64

^ May be. Usually from results I have seen to hit 4Ghz on E7200 you need 1.45-1.5v.

Try messing with FSB and MCH voltages.

^ This guide was not stickied because it is for a VERY specific board(s). If it included may be some thing like a EP45-DS3R,etc then it might be stickied. How ever as I have said before, ironically the BIOS settings for OCing are almost EXACTLY the same for ALL EP35-DS3x and P35-DS3x and EP45-DS3x boards.

If you like this guide you can book mark it on the forum (click on the heart icon) or add it to your browsers book marks.
