... great... i'll just make sure not to surpass my ram speeds... i think that was the problem last time i did this... now its 3.61 Ghz runnin right... with same temps
EDIT: OK ... i tryed both 3.8 and 3.7 but... i got BSOD'ED ..... so i'm back at 3.61 GHZ... so i kept my Vcrore = 1.2000v and everything else is just like the picture on the first page... so any ideas to how i'm suppose to get this to 3.7 or 3.8... any help will be appreciated

E7200
EVGA GeForce 8800 GT OC at 702 core/945 mem
Western Digital 420 GB SATA Sound Card
Sound Blaster Audigy SE Power Supply
Cool Master eXtreme Power 500 Watt
Antec Three Hundred ATX Case
OCZ Vanquisher CPU Cooler
ok... i turned down Vcore to 1.3 and ran prime... its running good... 30 mins blend test i for max temps are Core#0 65 Core#1 69... cuttin it a bit close buts its ok ... 74 is max temp for my cpu..
Idle is Core#0 37 and Core#1 42

Thanks a ton for this guide. I just registered to say thanks... after flashing the new BIOS and following a few of your tweaks I managed to get my E8600 stable @ 4.5GHz @ 30ish idle/50ish full load. I can't seem to add ANY voltage at all to my NB though, it won't post if I do.
^ Nice OC. Is it on water? I'm glad this guide helped you. As for adding voltage to NB, yeah that's dependent on the board and if you have a fan/cooling on the NB.

Nope... air cooling! I have the E8600 on a TRUE 120 Black with Scythe fans in push-pull.
hey shadow, thanks for this guide. i've been reading this thread even before i built my rig. i just registered to say my thanks and to ask a question. i'm a noob to overclocking (obviously) and this is my very first build:
Q6600 Go, Vid = 1.275
Xigmatek Red Scorpion
P35-DS3L F7 bios
2x2Gb Geil PC6400 ram
Silverstone Strider ST56F 560W
Vista Ultimate 64bit SP1
I easily overclocked to 3Ghz @ 333x9 Vcore = 1.2625 and it was prime smallFFT stable for 6hrs+ and got 100% on 50 passes of Intel Burn Test 1.9 using 3Gb of memory.
It's pretty hot in my room that my hottest core temp was 49C idle and 62C load using RealTemp. (should have bought True but don't like to lap)
So this is my problem: I can post and load vista at 3.2GHz (356x9 Vcore=1.375V) and at 3.3GHz (367x9 Vcore=1.375V) but when i run prime or IBT, my multiplier drops down to 6 after around 3 minutes even C1E and EIST are disabled in my bios.
BTW, i'm using 2 as my system memory multiplier and i use 95 as my Tjunc. I also did not change any voltages except my cpu Vcore.
I noticed this multiplier drop from 9 to 6 only when i exceed 1333 FSB. Have you encountered this before? thanks

That means your CPU is overheating. The CPU will automatically enable EIST/SpeedStep when it starts to over heat, even if it's disabled in BIOS.
Btw, did you get the bolt in kit for the XIGMATEK? If not that's probably why you have pretty high temps. Try re-seating the cooler.
these are the hottest of my cores. i have the bolt through kit. i'll re-seat my hsf later coz i'm getting 7C to 8C difference between core0 and core2 when idle and 1C when loaded.
should have bought the TRUE but i thought it was too heavy for this board and it needs lapping.
should i back down to 333x9 or keep the 367x9 since my temps stay at 50-55 when gaming?
speed fan for the cpu temp and real temp for core. Tjunction = 95C. I did some more observations and loaded with prime95 small fft. the temps were lower than IBT and also the multiplier would drop to 6 even if my max cpu temp was around 62 (SpeedFan) an my cores were 68 max.
I think you're correct that the CPU is overheating. After running IBT at different Vcores, I found out that the multiplier drops to 6 when the CPU temp exceeds 70C. That woud be 75C max on Real Temp.
hello everyone. i've been reading this forum and dont even have my mobo yet, but my question is i have purchased an e5200 dual core which i will use with this board. i looked it up on gigabyte's site and says i need the most up to date bios revision f6a. i do not have access to an older intel chip to install on to this and flash the bios. i need to make sure if there is a way to flash it with just a USB stick, CD, DVD, etc. else i would have gotten this board for nothing =(
also just to make sure, any ddr2 ram rated at 6400 and not higher should be compatible right?
Can someone explain how I can set my memory to its correct speed?
The memory is Kingston KHX6400D2LLK2/2G (DDR-800, PC2-6400) and the CPU is E8400. By default the memory is 667 MHz, and if I set the motherboard's FSB to 800 MHz the memory is set to 400 MHz.

^So? What's your problem? Just set the SPD to 2 and then increase CPU. Don't bother with setting the RAM to run at 800Mhz with a lower FSB. FSB:RAM at 1:1 is fine.
If FSB is 800 MHz and SDP is 2, then the RAM runs at 400 MHz. SDP 4 makes it run at 800 MHZ. At least according to BIOS. CPU-Z says it's running at 400 MHz and that FSB:RAM is 1:2. However, CPU-Z doesn't recognize my memory so it could be spouting nonsense. Or not.
