It appeared more that they are advertising systems with a Q9450, but not necessarily do they have them yet. I can remember when I tried to buy a Dell years ago that had a new Intel CPU in it. Their estimated delivery time was two months. I called up Alienware and asked about the latest AMD chip of the era, and they said they would have it to me in three to five days, including shipping time.

Ok, my point is that the Q9450 may have shown up on their website, but a person may have to wait a few months before it gets delivered. Don't know if Dell is better now on building and shipping then it was before, but that was my experience.

Perhaps one should consider joining the other family if a quad core is desired.

Yeah, but I haven't seen any B3s for sale, so there's no real hope in that direction yet. Besides, a Q6600 still beats a B3 if raw performance is desired.

Ah, a QX9650. Yes, that will provide plenty of speed. Got a spare $1100 for that couple hundred extra mhz?

I think before I spend that much on my computer, I will buy a supercharger for my Cobra. But that's a different kind of speed. But oh, what a blast it would be to run at 180 MPH. :sol:

Intel said we would get the chips by the end of 1Q 08, so there's still another week left. Any later and Intel can join AMD for making promises that it doesn't keep. :non:

When can we see it on Newegg? Maybe Apr 1. Maybe we'll see it by Apr 15, just in time for the "Taxman". :ouch: Other than that, yeah, like you said....

Politics... release date will always be pushed back until competition (AMD) shows some muscle. Right now Intel doesn't have to drop prices of their chips, which is great because they can spend less on R&D, manufacturing etc, and have higher profit margins.
Personally I can't see the benifit of some of these newer processors. Right now games seem to be limited to GPU and the majority of people are still using hard drives... SLOOOOW.
If I were running Intel, I would be slow to bring out processors. They were expecting the Phenom to be a little more powerful.

All this secretiveness (by all of the companies) is getting on my nerves. I hope AMD can kick start the industry, but I doubt that will happen until their 45nms. Looks like we can look forward to quite a few more months of this.

Yes, the secretiveness, delays, etc is very nervewracking. :fou: Unfortunately, when AMD finally drags out their 45nm sometime next year, we can expect, well, we can hope its not another Phenom. At least the ATI 4xxx series of cards should be out in a couple months, barring any delays. Probably won't be any, because ATI is the division that's making AMD some money at the moment. :bounce:

Do you know if this website actually has the q9450 in stock? Or is it just another one of those pre-order sites that you can find on google checkout?

That's what it says and I went to act like I was going to buy it and it was letting me choose over night shipping and all that. If they are lieing then that is false advertisement. They have a little thing at the top that says what they have in stock and everything and the 9450 is one in green saying in stock so,, that's a yes to me.

I think the $319 price was per thousand. So like, if you order a thousand of them, you can get $40 off on the individual price.

I'm still holding out for a Q9550, though.

If that is true, then Intel is either missing the 1Q launch or doing a very thin paper launch, take your pick. But I expect a lot of them on Apr 1.

It could just be a salesman wanting to get off the phone with me too. Maybe they'll have them tomorrow.

Also, when do you guys expect to see the retail version?

It's now on their website, but out of stock. Maybe they meant they expect new stock in late April.

CompSource.com is selling the Xeon X3350, which seems to be exactly the same as the 9450, and it shows in stock at $353.

I ordered a Xeon X3360, which seems to be the same as the 9550. It's supposed to be delivered today, according to the FedEx tracking site.

If it does come today, I'm going to pop it into my current P5W DH Deluxe MB and see how it works. I've got a pile of new parts in the corner waiting for just a couple of items to come in before I can start on building a new computer.

Reply to comrade

I want to see screenies when you do. I checked the price on the 3360 and wow that is pricy. I also would like to say that the 9450 is cheaper by my house at microcenter then that site. $349= 9450

Yeah, the X3360 is a little pricy at $602, but you're saying the Microcenter near you is selling the 9450 for $349. That's only $4 cheaper than at CompSource...., and they have it in stock. The X3350 and X3360 are retail boxes with fan and heatsink and three year warranty.

I really would have liked the QX9650, but at ~$1050, it's too much even for me. I barely got the X3360 past the family CFO, my wife. The unlocked multiplier would be nice though.

Very true lets keep this post going , what is the multiplier on that one? I can't fing wait to get the 9450 or the one you have ordered :P . I'm just saying I can go pick ity up that's all, no wait :) . I have connections there I can say hold one for me.

Hey all,

Anyone heard anything yet about when the retail version of the q9450 will be released? I really do not understand what the deal is with this. I mean why do they even bother to tell everyone that it will be released if they aren't going to release it? Pretty lame. :pfff:

By the way, for all of you that are thinking about Microcenter: be warned! They have been known to sell parts and then turn around and cancel your order because they ran out of them--- without telling you! :fou: They are getting terrible reviews from everyone! The $10 savings on this and that part is not worth it! Check this out:

I'd stick to the 'Egg for sure. It might be just a little more expensive, but they don't mess around and you get your parts-- and get them on time!

Reply to Niceguy4

The q9450 is already of on newegg and a lot of other sites. Second, the microcenter offer for the q6600 that we talked about is an in-store offer only. You can only get it if you physically go to the store.

I know that the q9450 is at Newegg, but I was asking about the 'Retail' not the tray version. I want to get the retail version with the warranty:-). About the Microcenter thing: I just thought I'd point out to everyone that they are known for getting people mad. I guess the brick and mortar store might be better, but on that link I posted there are quite a few people complaining about the actual stores too. Just FYI

Thanks!

I bought one of the OEM Q9450s from Microcenter for $306 including shipping. Now I need a BIOS update for my P5W DH Deluxe so I can run it even at stock, since the vCORE is too low at Auto and too high via manual setting to keep it stable. 2Ghz is stable, so I leave it there.

The few days it ran at 2.66Ghz with no troubles, BOY did it tear through converting to WMV. I can't wait to get back to that...

My Q9450 arrived from Microcenter and it's currently running in my Abit IP35 Pro (Bios v1.1). The sticker must be incorrect 'cause Penryns and Wolfdales aren't supported until Bios v1.2.

Anywaste, the only thing that sucks is that Microcenter has a presence in NYS so I had to pay taxes. Total price $333.
