I've tried crysis, it lags, but thats to be expected, installing F.E.A.R right now. Also can someone aide me on the sata hd that I got? how do I check if its really running at 3.0gb p/s?

Video card./RAM

Crysis is a monster.  A little more RAM could help.  For XP you should have 2 gb, for Vista go with three.

Crysis is the only Christmas present I asked for from my wife.  I will be playing it on ultra-low as a result of my GeForce 7800gt.

Gawd... the 3gb p/s is only in perhaps spikes, you will never achieve a constant 3gb p/s through-put.

And besides that, when you run the game, the only real time the HD matters is when the game loads, after that, its all executed in memory.  Unless you dont have enough memory, then you have really bad lagging from HD swapping from the paging file.

As it has been said SATA interface is capable of 3.0 gig, but untill they can make hard drives turn faster than 10000 RPM or invent some way of getting the info off them faster, they won't be any faster than PATA 100

Do yourself a favor next time windows stars up. Check your processes. They arent applications. Oh my looky looky. The process tab is right next to the alpplication tab. How could that be. We are talking speed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not pixel pipeline. Quality and speed are entirely different buddy. When you know what you are talking about feel free to post. Thanks.

Every application has a process. Do yourself a favor and open Windows task manager, right click an application, oh gee looky looky, GO TO PROCESS.

It is evident that a "PROCESS" will entirely depend on a "PROGRAM"

So yeah, programs are processes. Thank you.

And if you SERIOUSLY think that the old, POS 9600 PRO is similar to an 8600GTS, than holy crap, you've got another thing coming! The older 9600 PRO used to compete against the older GeForce 6600GT. The 6600GT is faster, so we'll compare that to the 8600GTS in the Tom's Hardware VGA charts. God if this doesn't convince you than surely you must be an idiot.

IN EVERY SINGLE BENCHMARK THE 8600GTS IS BETTER! SO NOT, THEY ARE NOT SIMILAR IN SPEED OR ANYTHING! GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!
