There's General Discussion for OVERCLOCKING, there's GENERAL HOMEBUILT, GENERAL NETWORKING, GENERAL MOBILE, GENERAL LAPTOP, GENERAL HANDHELDS, GENERAL GAMES, GENERAL VISTA/XP/NT/98
No General Discussion.
So can it fanboy. I'm sorry this thread doesn't support and cheer for your favorite company, but it's about AMD so it belongs in the CPU forum, not some imaginary GENERAL forum that you're making up.
Fanboys, yeeesh!
Leave the moderating to the moderators.
My favourite company? Ive got an intel system! ....and the last one was intel!
I'm not on a high horse. I'm on a "you're wrong" horse.
Where's this magical "general" forum you speak of that is more appropriate for discussions relating to CPU companies such as AMD and Intel?
If anyone is on a high horse it's our self proclaimed moderators, Spoonboy and Caasma. You go around telling people they can't post news related to AMD in this forum, but only manage to do so when it is bad news for AMD.
Nice try. You're using some of Baron's debating tactics.
TC if any one is a self proclaimed moderator its you mate 'king of the cpu board', roll on u getting booted off and taking your intel drum-banging and text highlighting somewhere else
btw i havent got a horse myself, ive got a magical pony
...and if the us airline industry post 9/11 is anything to go by chapter 11 can save even the most screwed companies.
If AMD's value drops much further someone will buy them.
This cash won't last long at the rate things are going. Also, keep in mind that the Arabs have already lost over 60% of their investment on this deal. I can't imagine too many who would want to keep throwing money in the AMD fire in light of this.
As far as the recent plummet in AMD share price, I think this is largely due to the ATI goodwill writeoff which is going to occur on this quarterly report. With this, AMD is basically admitting how much they overpaid for ATI. I am going to speculate that this writeoff will likely exceed $1 billion. Couple this with the usual 200 million operating loss and you have the recipe for a share price freefall. We shall see.

You are correct, I did not include the Arab contribution, so that would extend the life of AMD for another quarter or two, depending on their rate of losses. And someone might buy AMD as well. But a buy out wasn't part of the question or my answer, only how long AMD will last until bankruptcy at its present rate of spending. By the way, though I didn't include the Arab money, I didn't include the ATI write-off either,.
Naturally enough, there are always lots of problems predicting the future, as AMD's losses may either increase or decrease.

Evil lurks in the databanks as it lurked in the streets of yesteryear. But it was never the streets that were evil.
I sold AMD at $28.37 and took a bath at it then. I am extremely gratified that I didn't stick around to ride it all the way down. As for the prospects of buying into it again, I'd rather set my pubic hair on fire.

Spoonboy you didn't know what you were talking about when you flamed TC and your continuous attacks make you look even dumber by the minute so why don't you go back to your imaginary "General Discussion" thread and choke.
Spoonboy, TC's forgoten more about computers than youll ever know, so give it a rest already. TC is a main dude! I'll buy him a beer, a CFL ticket and a ho anytime he wants!
