Heh, to date I've not had any components fail due to overclocking ... However, I've had RAM modules suddenly start failing (currently on RMA) when it was being underclocked (AMD system, 6000+, low memory speed is hard to avoid) ... and I've had 4 graphics cards die during normal use (all with good ventilation)

2 x 9800 pros ... memory died causing green bars over the screen
1 x 1900xtx ... memory died causing green jagged bars over the screen (1 month after warranty expired)
1 x 7950gt ... memory died causing randomly miscoloured pixels on the screen (EVGA replaced with a superclocked version though ^^)

In that case make sure you get a PSU with an 8pin connector.

Doubtful. The 9800gx2 would cost around $500+, and not many people can afford that, unlike the $250+ 8800GT.

I think the 9800 GX2 will be as much as a joke as the 7950 GX2.

Going to be hard to cool and will really only benefit you in games that take full advantage of SLI.
