Here we go.

First, I use a laptop with an Intel IGP, running Vista Ultimate with Aero, and it runs fine. In fact, it runs better than my 630i HTPC IGP (which I cannot run Aero on without the drivers crapping out). Also, it was Microsoft that gave out the "Vista-Capable" stickers. Who exactly is getting sued for that? Intel? Nope. So, what does that have to do with this topic?

Also, Dreamworks on drugs because they dropped AMD? Okay. Guess Pixar has been on drugs for years then, too. And who said that Dreamworks will be using an Intel GPU right away? And what does this have to do with the EU adding charges?

Geez, you are stirring up a pot of nothing again, in hopes of starting a new argument. It's nice to see that you haven't changed your tactics since your sabbatical.

Gee, I meant to say, see where there's smoke there's fire. It would seem as though they would slow down after the initial inquiry if they found they were not finding reason to.

Everyone knows Intel's practices. People just look the other way. Back when MS got investigated people suggested that Intel should have been under the microscope. I would actually wonder why the OEMs aren't being sued for the Vista Capable sicker as they attached it to their HW.

I guess I should feel bad, or maybe ripped off, because I don't buy Intel but I don't. I still haven't upgraded from my 939. Maybe in September.

It's interesting to note on this board that "allegations" are accepted as fact. If it were so cut and dry, black and white, wouldn't we be discussing an EU "sentence" or "fine" instead of an EU "charge". Look, "if" Intel is guilty under EU law, they will be fined accordingly, but that won't help AMD as I understand those proceeds go to the EU, not the company that initiated the claim.

This really seems like the same old, same old from AMD, and you can't discount the NY/Germany-AMD connection. The German gov't pumps millions AMD's way... Yes, I'm "alluding" without fact, but it seems suspicious that AMD shops it's lawsuits around to places that are likely to be favourable to it. NY state? c'mon...

The only one thing I ever wounder is this. Were these laws in place when this "supposively" happened or are they newer laws that the EU put into place after the fact.

The Vista Capable thing has nothing to do with Intel. Intel was working with MS on it to make their hardware capable but that all fell apart.

And putting personal bias into building a PC gets you the worst performance ever.

Neither have I brother! Opteron 175 FTW!

Baron, when are you getting a Quad FX system that you were pumping a couple years back?

You're one to talk. Why ask him about a dead end system he mentioned a couple of years ago when you still have an Opteron.

You'd think the facts would have you upgrading to a Penryn, or at least a budget priced Q6600.

Yes, AMD hasn't performed well with Phenom, but if Intel's the only company worth anything nowadays, you'd think our premier factboy would have upgraded by now.

On the other hand, this close to Nehalem, I can see waiting for an Intel fan. I just can't see your sour grapes over AMD when you aren't upgrading.

Me, I'll get one of those 8750 "Triple Cripples" (must give you a thumbs up there, though the CPU's not that bad compared to an Athlon X2, that's a pretty funny putdown). When I get it in September, I'll let you know how it does.

For me the facts are easy. I could stick with aging tech, but I can use the boost, even if it's only 17% per core and not everything uses the third core.

What are the facts for you? Usually it's old guys like me who are disgruntled and stick with outdated stuff. Does that Opteron really do all you need it to do? All you want it to do?

You really should go out and buy Intel. That would make you a factboy based on experience and not third party reviews.

Hey don't trip on the man, just because he keep his opty. I am also an enthusiast, but i refuse myself to update my rig every time anything comes out. Really.

It still a hobby.

Why ask him?

Oh yeah, I remember now, HE PUMPED QUAD FX RELENTLESSLY!

In fact, here is a famous BaronMatrix quote:

I don't get mad, I get Quad FX.

So yes, it sucks when a fanboy gets his seemingly endless past FUD statements shoved back in his face. Go take some midol and a chill pill, yipsl.

yipsl, you have to remember some people have other priorities and PC building comes as a last priority hobby, like myself. I love building them but when I can afford them is very rarely.

Besides for what TC does his Opty does the job. No need to upgrade yet. I believe he is waiting as well for Deneb and Nehalem so he can get a system thats not outdated by the time he builds it.

Wow the rating stuff is getting out of hand.

TC's posts might disappear completely if he keeps insulting all of the AMD fans by stating none of them have a brain!!

That might be a bit of bad karma.

I hope Intel's business practices are exposed and they are fined appropriately.

Lets hope Captain Dirk of the good ship AMD can complete their 5 year ... er 7 quarter ... aww forget it !!

Wow. It's almost as if Baron was wrong and everything is selling over MSRP.

$430 for a motherboard? You've got to be kidding me.
$700 for a pair of measly weak FX-70s?
$900 for a pair of mediocre FX-72?
$1,100 for a pair of can't hack it FX-74s?

This brought a smile to my face. I hope Baron is around to give his view on this.

QUAD FX = FAILURE

Is fanboy forgetting you can put in two quad cores in a few months??
They will draw the same power as 2 duals.

Will you then reinvest in an AMD system and say Intel sucks?

Barcelona = K10 Opteron
Agena = K10 Phenom
Kuma = K10 Dual Core = Vaporware

So Agena is the K8L, Propus is now Arcturus and Sempron is that other one still.

Nice.
