Actually he had one incorrect score in one benchmark and he fixed it, but I do agree on waiting until they are ready to ship before I get too excited.
I read that the one they were asking about was because the test that the people who were questioning it pulled it from a Vista 64Bit tests. And the ones they did that day were on Vista 32Bit. This happened with the THG preview of Nehalem (the PCMark and such). They tested the Nehalem with Vista 32 and then people though the QX6850 should have had a higher score but the test they looked at were running on Vista 64.
I agree that we need to wait for more benchmarks but what I like is that these are not directly from Intel and were done by people other than Intel in non Intel testing situations. That gives me more hope that these benchmarks are accurate.
Now if they were in house Intel numbers (like with Penryn) I would have a lot more doubt.
I hope Nehalem is that good. If so it will help push AMD to get a better chip out faster. Or so thats how it normally works.
And yet another AMD thread is hijacked and degenerates into a discussion of how great Intel's next chip will be...
I wasn't aware that there was an AMD CPU-specific category. Maybe you should request one, or just post on AMDzone....
My old Opty 175 is getting... Well, a bit old. So the Nehalem benchmarks, such as they are, I find interesting. Come upgrade time, it would be nice to be able to make an informed choice.

I'm merely suggesting that people should try to stay on topic. Take a look at the title of the thread. As someone who is interested in the Phenom processors I'd like to be able to follow a thread where they are being discussed without having every other post being off-topic.

So this should be about Phenoms, and just phenoms? I seem to recall a few posts about Athlon64's here in the mix. They are off-topic? How about power comparisons between the various quads?
I find all information on most sites needs to be taken with large grains of salt. But if you look at enough sites, average all the BS, sometimes you get pretty close to how a particular component will perform. Such as the new AMD SB750. Will it help?

So in your opinion then anybody who objects to a thread going off-topic must be a crazed fanboy? Interesting reasoning you have there.
As for the posts about other processors, whether they are off-topic or not depends on context. Comparing Nehalem to Phenom is all well and good and certainly belongs in a thread like this. However, singing Nehalem's praises without even mentioning Phenom would be off-topic in a thread that was started to talk about Phenoms. The same would be true if the opposite happened in a thread started to talk about Nehalem.
Honestly if you want to continue your childish argument any further I suggest using the PM function. I see no reason to further clog up the thread with a useless flame war.

I think that in this whole exchange, I've had one sentence that expressed any reference to a fanboy.
Give that the new sb750 chipset is not yet ready for prime-time, and that the Nehalem is still not released to MFG, any meaningful comparisons at this time would be impossible. However, there is information available relating to Nehalem's TDP vs Phenom's TDP, and I find these useful.
As to PM's, my Pa said 'never say in private to another what you'd not say in public'.

My point was that flame wars are pointless and most people don't enjoy reading them. I don't see the need to muddy the waters here with yet another one. You obviously don't seem to agree with this despite the fact that your latest argument is actually agreeing with my last post.

This is what I objected to.
"And yet another AMD thread is hijacked and degenerates into a discussion of how great Intel's next chip will be... "
If that's not flame-bait, then I don't kow what is.

I'm not sure how commenting about a thread going off-topic qualifies as flame bait. Now telling people to go post at AMDZone and accusing them of being fanboys on the other hand...

From what I got on the title it was not about Phenom performance but was about Newegg has more Phenom choices.
Anand has a preview of the SB750 mobos if you are truly interested in Phenom.
As for Nehalem, you should be interested in that as well as it will change the playing field. Pretty much even it out to the point that AMD will no longer have the IMC as a bragging right. It will be based on whatever core is better.
I should get an upgrade....dying with Pentium 4 here..hehehehe
lol I am suprised that thing hasnt started a small fire in that shuttle case! Sometimes I miss my old P4 651. That is until I think about how much better my 3700+ was and now my 6420.
I am curious is to how that 3870 does with your p4 feeding it?

When you get a CPU with an IMC you will just love it as it runs a lot smoother.Although the Phenoms are currently slower than Intel's Quads they do run smoother with less frame dropouts in simulations and games.I've already noticed this quite a bit.
You will love the Nehalem especially because of the inclusion of the IMC in addition to its much higher performance when you decide to get one.

To me, your whinge sounds like that of a Phenom fanboy. Or a Baron fanboy...

I bet money that you will never see me make an Intel thread into an AMD love-in. I don't feel bad that AMD is my preferred vendor - get that - PREFERRED VENDOR. I don't care who buys what. And as I said, I thought it was interesting that they finally have ALL OF THE K10 SKUs, including Budapest. It's interesting that no one has bothered to see if Budapest OCs as well as former 1P Opterons. But then I guess no one cares now that Intel has the lead. It's almost like watching the Stepford Wives.
I was actually thinking about a 2.2GHz Budapest even though they don't use HT3 as they are rated at 75W and if anywhere near the ability of 12xx Opteron, the 2.2 should easily reach a 250MHz bus, especially with a SB750 mobo.

You don't really believe that do you? If that was the case AMD would have much more corporate desktop share. nVidia had a business platform three years ago. AMD has a super one now. I would bet though that the HPs and Dells will not push them as they should. I mean they want those ad dollars from Inhell.
I kind of wish some deep pocketed someone would take AMD and be able to match Inhell in spending. We'd quickly see a real shift then.
