i think i will be delaying building my rig especially that the DX11 cards will be out after some weeks or months and i don't want to pay that amount on the gtx 285 and then regret it because i didn't buy DX11 cards so i will wait sometime till the DX11 cards be released
ok then! I wish you luck!
Do you get as entrance by modern day Tech as I do?
well i did a little research about the DX11 cards and my mind kept spinning whether to get that monster built now and maybe regret it on the gtx 285 cards or wait for some weeks or even months and i chose to wait,i can't really imagine a high end rig without containing the latest new generation of graphic cards, i am spending 1229$ for the 3 gtx 285 2gb alone and that is a complete budget for a good i7 system so i think i will regret it if i didn't wait.i know that the performance might not be worth waiting and worth the extra money but that's just me
^+1. Agreed. DX11 won't be used in games until 2 years after release. Also, last time I checked DX11 will not be out till end of this year-mid next year.
Anyways, OP you could just NOT get 3x GTX295s and just get a single 4870 for now. You'll be able to build it (and WC the CPU) AND you'll be able to play most games at good settings.

yah i was thinking about getting one or 2 4890 for now and when the DX11 cards are released i can get them D
Not going to see any benefit from 2x SLI to 3x SLI. You might see a little if you run the 3rd in Physx, but I really don't think your cost-to-performance curve is going to pay off like you think. SLI works great...i'm not convinced about 3x SLI at this point...poor scaling.

well i am not really convinced about that tri-sli gtx 285 won't be better than sli, here is a benchmark showing that http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/ [...] ndex6.html a little note:i will be getting a dell 3008WFP monitor which has a maximum 2560x1600 resolution and i want to be able to play at that resolution
It's crazy to buy 3 GPU's for SLI especially if you haven't built a single high end ONE GPU setup with watercooling.
Slow down.
i will say it again my friend's uncle works in building computers and he told me he would do everything for me for only 200$ including building the pc,watercooling, overclocking and putting my hardrives in raid 0
@OP: http://www.anandtech.com/video/sho [...] i=3183&p=3 Yes, 3-SLI does offer improvements in some games, but you have to decide if you really want to spend that much money. Seriously do you need Tri-SLI for the games you play? Also note: Current high end GPUs will be able to keep up with the new DX11 cards when considering price vs performance.

also won't the DX11 have some drivers issues that will need time to be stable ?my choices now are the tri-sli of the gtx 285 1 gb or the 2gb edition which would be better for me?i think that the 2 gb edition will be better as i am going to play at 2560x1600
