I think you should look at the 5770, less power consumption, quieter, and Dx11 and its cheaper than the 4890. You could also get a smaller PSU since it uses a lot less power. You could either go with a 500w or a 600w for x-fire in the future. A 500w will run you 65 for a high quality one. I think we even mentioned above the BFG tech wasn't so great as brockh said.

This setup should put me right around $500 it looks like (case excluded). The most frustrating thing about swapping single parts out is that it seems like to change one part out, you usually have to change EVERYTHING out for compatibility. I like that this setup has combo deals, easier to keep everything organized for me when I forward the links to my dad.

You should either A. drop down some watts to a 500w or B. Get a 650w with 4x6pin connectors for x-fire in the future. The one you have is enough watts but doesn't have enough connectors for future crossfire. A 500w will serve one card fine and the one i recommended even is modular.

It will use less power, be more quiet, and have DX11, but it will not be cheaper. The Sapphire Vapor-X 4890 is $134.99 with that combo and then $78.99 for the memory. The HD 4890 will perform better and at least supports DX 10.1. The HD 5770 is only a sound choice if he wants DirectX 11.

If I may: OCZ Fatal1ty OCZ550FTY 550W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Retail $39.99

It's modular, has active PFC; no 80 PLUS rating but it does cite over 80% typical efficiency. Also, it's CrossFire ready and cheaper.

***I just received this email- apparently, Sonic, you just got lucky. I've already got a Windows 7 upgrade on the way so I guess I'll cancel this order. I'm kinda pissed off about it.

Mine just says "Windows 7 Professional". I'll call tomorrow and ask which version they are shipping, I'm going to raise hell if I get the upgrade version after repeatedly saying "full" and hearing the phone guy say "full".
