JDJ, is anyone else designated a veterarn? JDJ, I am certain your post total was 3500 yesterday. I will say, I could have read it wrong. But I even double checked it at 3500. Then compared my 2500 total to your 3500 total to. Maybe I clicked on someone's elses 'More Information' without realizing. That's the only thing I can think of. I look again today and your total is 6000+. I couldn't believe it.
JDJ you were a regular like last week. No? With about 500 oints more than my total 2600.
At least this thread is up to ten pages now... two off of JDJ's goal I believe.
What is the largest page count in a thread on Tom's?? Are we setting the mark/record with this thread??
It is amazing though how fast some people are movin up the ranks. I looked at hunter315's count and he had like 600 post since May but has close to 3000 points I think? I did some math and he is getting 6 points a post and I'm getting like 2.5 a post. What is most interesting is I don't remember seeing him create a thread... just replies. Most be getting a lot of "best answers"... but he does give some good feedback though.
Maybe its something I et?
We are absolutely nowhere near a record here. That will forever be held by this thread: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/ [...] team-40051
So many posts has it that you can't see any newly added ones unless you go to the reply page. 46 pages is a pretty low limit for any forum though.
The previous record before the moderators ruined it was held by the infamous Very old computer working?. I do believe we exceeded 60 pages but that was when this forum was phpBB.
Believe it or not, but I have gotten 'best answer' maybe 15 or twenty times over the years. When I was Noob, I started maybe a dozen or more threads. Like JDJ said, it looks like He has been given full credit for his posts from before the new member ranking system was set. My point toatal accumilation rate is feeble. I have no idea how this thing works. Hang on Luther, we're headed for the barn.
I honestly didnt think Id make it to 5000 bylast weekend, Dont know what happened, But I was definately in the 4000s last week. I think alot of my posts hit their deadline is the only way I can splain it ( thats right Collette, just like that)
I think I'll start a new thread about the notebook I just took apart and can't get back together. Ask a lot of questions like, "where's this wire go?"
Apparently one of the members I mentioned earlier was posting crap posts just until they got 1500 points to become a regular, or so they said. Looks like the system has been abused shamelessly!
Ill offer glue support
Anyone know if a mobile AMD Athlon 64 3200 2.2GHz socket 754 processor will work and run at full speed in a desktop 754 MB? I have a great recommendation for a 2.5 external HD case if anyone needs one. Also, I have a bunch of notebook PC2700 DDR RAM, a mobile heatsink for 754, a monitor and MB if anyone wants to buy it. Some little speakers. A bowl of machine screws, little keyboard and mouse. It didn't work anyway. Hehe

I have a lot plastic substitute. I used a plastic substitute to mold my son's fatality headphones back together. Worked like a charm where super glue would not. I have some left over, wanna borrow it? Glue? That gives me an idea.
Women, don't mess with them.

Alls he had to do was start 15 threads. Start twenty and equal my three plus years worth of points. That makes sense.

Hilarious Epic Tom's thread. Read the first few pages for a laugh. This thread has a way's to go LOL.

I just noticed a noob got 104 points for their first post. I have 2600 points for 8000+ posts.
mike fullerton has a great start at my point total with his one day on the forum. He could concievably be at half my total in a few hours.

I just check the thread and the noob is up to a 180+ points on 8 post...
If OP quotes and answers you you get 3000 points
I get like 4.
yeah, 200 points with 8 posts. Makes sense.
So ill ask again should I slow down.....anyone but short_stuff can answer.

Yeah, I read through that one around a year ago. Just epic. Every post is a gem. I can't believe you guys are keeping this thread alive.

The latter joined just over a year ago and has 535 posts and 1483 points. I have not seen many posts from this person other than "yeah", "me too", "^+1" and even consecutive one-word posts like "this" "thread" "has".

Don't the mods have the authority to dock points from users who are obviously abusing the system? Or does that fall into the "that makes sense/common sense" category that seems to elude the new ownership?
In my case,
8063 posts at a minimum of 4 points per = 32,252 points. I have 2,680 points. Makes sense.
2684 points/8064 posts = .33 points per post. Makes sense.
no

Actually he didn't. There are points for signing up and points for confirming registration remember.

Yes if we delete posts the points get docked, but this is not a paid career so I'm not spending an entire week going through one user's posts finding the crap and deleting it. Especially not when it takes a good 6-10 seconds to fully load any forum page.

So I set a MSI socket 754 desktop MB on the table, installed the mobile AMD Athlon 64 3200, HSF, 1 GB RAM, TNT AGP video card and hooked a PSU to it. Mobile procesor was recognized by BIOS as Mobile AMD Athlon 64 3200. I was surprised BIOS recognized the mobile processor corectly. Only problem was the Mobile CPU is 'shorter' than a desktop processor and a standard HSF does not touch the processor, so the temp is high like 77c. I'll need something like a Zalman 9500/9700 or the like that is able reach and bond to the shorter mobile processor.
Give me my 32,000 points for the hard work I have done on the forum for 3 1/2 years.
I would settle for 32 000 points as well, better than my measely 3698.
I only have 3575 so there!
But i have 3000 more posts, waaahhh.
so meh, who cares, it's all about rep
It's like a new administration came in your school and took away all the credits you had accumilated so you would fit with the new attendees under his new administration. The administrator was jealous of veteran presence and cut the vets down to his equal. Pathetic.
sounds like what happened to our veteran troops
Hard to disagree, badge. I can't help but think (or hope?) there really was a reason, what bugs me is that there's been no explanation.
Come on, French, obviously we don't have to like it, but at least explain it to us.

Yeah (emphatically). You have 4554 posts. At a minimum of 4 points per that's 18,216 points. Minimum! Who are the administrators of this Forum trying to kid. Pretty lame and unjustified like you said.
I saw a noob with like 400 posts with like 4500 points deemed a 'veteran'. Ha, I'm called a regular and robbed of at least 32,000 points! I would not recommend the Forum or the web site to anyone. I have never seen this kind of thing before on any forum.
If the people who did this were held accountable in a court of law, they would do time. I hope they fail.
badge, I think it's time we demand custom titles
we deserve being veterans at least...
I don't think the new system is fair to us 'veterans'
You, a veteran, speak not such lies child. You are now't but a young pup.
| Quote : we deserve being veterans at least... |
Oh, you are a veteran all right just like me. How can you tell... Take you're number of posts times .33 to get your points total. You're years spent here mean nothing to the imbesiles people who did this. You should have 4500 posts x 4 points minimum about 18,000 points. You have 2000 points the way these imbesiles people see it.. Makes sense. And no explanation which also makes sense.
We could sign a petition!
I see "regular" and i think *Metamucil commercial*
