I won't post who it is, that's not my style, I only embarass those who publicly ask for it or take it too far, or in the case of the one I linked to, a true no-investment n00b who wouldn't ever know or gain/lose cred because of it. However, I might drop hints like I did, so the person who did it would know they'd been spotted.
Randomizer, you know I wouldn't just throw that out there unless I could back it up (I also have a good memory of such things); BUT I can tell you XT it wasn't you I was refering to, which doesn't mean you don't do it, I just didn't see it.

The thing is, like the post I linked to, the original answer was given a 'thumbs up' (the first rating system people hated because it became a fanboi & troll abused tool with little value), and a thanks by the OP, who doesn't appear to have seen the follow-up (his own fault if he buys a GF7900/X1900 over an HD4770 because he didn't wait for more than one answer), and so we reward the "answer many posts often to get more points, regardless of if you know or not or get it right or not" strategy that is as bad as when we had fewer posts. It doesn't motivate the people who are knowledgeable to post more, they ussually posted as often as they could/wanted before anyways, and then there's people like JDJ who need no motivation.

My point is that this is BAD, many suggestions thrown at the wall in order for someone to get as many points as possible decreases the signal to noise ratio (we don't penalize people for bad suggestions so cutting and pasting Wiki all day makes you a BoM point star.

That's relying on a segment of the population we've already said/acknowledged is leaving THG due to radical change; the experienced members, if they are the ones leaving, then there isn't that counter-balance you're adding to your equation and then you're left simply with a higher BS quotient than before, but at the end of the month/quarter/year BoM can point to post and user figures and say they're all up, and thus get more ad revenue (or hope to unless the advertisers realize that these 'eyes' they're buying aren't either the valued high-markup purchasers, nor the key influencers, they're trading valuable eyes for mass market follower eyes. Of course it's easier to make sheep eat/buy crap than those who are aware, so you end up with more Desktop Tool / PC optimizer-scanner and GF9400 & HD4350 1GB super gaming card ads. Which is ok if you had infinite space, but if you value your letter heads and runners, then you want to get maximum dollar for them. Working with sales and marketing everyday I can tell you, you want the high value customers / eyes right now, because the low to mid range is penny pinching. Once again it's about trading quality for quantity.

Considering how long and how much effort was put into just allowing people to post pictures on the old THG, alot of the changes in the last year seem simply poorly thought out, and with little to no involvement of the community.

Once again, massive sudden changes seem more readily implemented than small arguably more essential community generated ones.

In Australia in high school is the study of European history required as a non elective? Here it is (was) when I went t school. You didn't know ANY of this? History is boring due to the French propensity to surrender throughout the study of western history. France is a joke in American high schools. In this country, in order to have the proper credit for an undergraduate degree, a keen understanding of the material related in that link must be understood.

Im a little late! TGGA I do agree there are some flaws such as the ones you pointed out. However I think that the idiots who dont get the second opinion before buying or even doing some more homework of their own, are just plain idiots. Hopefully they will learn a lesson out of the ordeal. As long as that lesson isnt "Dont ask for help!" we should all be alright. The fact that BOM needs the hits right now the new system is really not a bad thing on SOME levels.

I still think the power users here can pick apart most BSers pretty quick around here. Some of the old guys have left and some new and future stars have emerged. We will see what happens here on toms and hopefully we can pull together as a group to do so.
