Thanks, I'm in UK so thats perfect. Does the amplifier come with the power lead as well? I know all the sound leads work, but am unsure if the power works as well, so ideally need the box and the power cable.

Hi Rick

I am sure we can throw in a power lead for you. Just send an email to follow up your order and I will take care of it.

Thanks for your quick response and help. I've placed the order and I've put the request of a power lead in the comments box on my order form.

Thanks again.

Well I bought my Set of Medusa 5.1 Classics just over a week ago.
So far my opinion of these headsets is much below average, Speedlink have havent replied to my emails, and the Medusa Support emails pass the buck to the supplier I used.

Now I am in dire need of help, ive exhausted all my avenues and no one can help :( so Ive come, having had to endure 12 odd pages of bickering, off topics and blackmail none of the information is not at all helpful.

My problem comes 3 Fold:
1. The Tinniness in the Rear
2. A Rattle in the Left Earpiece if the Bass goes to high... which so many people have seemed to rave about out.
3. Ive got an X-Plosion which no seems to have, and I cant find a fix for it at all :(

can anyone please help me, Im at my wits end

1. The Tinniness in the Rear
A) This is by design and can be adjusted to users preference by using various tips on this forum.

2. A Rattle in the Left Earpiece if the Bass goes to high... which so many people have seemed to rave about out.
A) Rattling earpiece indicates broken set - Return to supplier for replacement.

3. Ive got an X-Plosion which no seems to have, and I cant find a fix for it at all

Medusa International are re-sellers. We offer FREE support to customers who purchase from ourselves only. Our prices are set to include 24hr support. I am sorry if the Company you purchased your set from do not support you but it is very unresonable of you to expect Medusa Customers to subsidise them and give you support you have not paid us for. This was explained in the email we sent you.

Ok, I recently bought a Medusa 5.1 Pro Gamer Headset.
The problem I have is that my PC won't recognise the headset?
I can hear sound no problem (TERRIFIC ATCUALLY!!!) when listening to music, games and films.
My problem is that the mic won't work????
When I go to my sound and audio options and try to make Medusa my Voice default in my voice playback option, it won't recognise medusa in the drop list to do so?
As these headsets don't come with a driver, how can I get my PC to recognise the headset?

Reply to AliensAssassin

Assuming you have the microphone connected direct to your sound card then the only entry you should see in the drop down box is the one for your sound card.

I would guess you have a defective mic (or headset) and you need to return it to your supplier for replacement.

Matt

Reply to Medusa_USA

My soundcard is the only thing registered there, but when I try mic test, ventrilo or Teamspeak, my mic does not work?

Reply to AliensAssassin

Hey matt,

I have been trying to get the medusas to sound perfect for a while now with little success. I have managed to fix the 'tinny' sound in the rear speakers by fiddling with the 5.1 settings that came with my X-plosion sound card. The only remaining problem is the tinny sound coming from the centre speaker. It seems to lack base and have an old raido type sound to it. And will not respond as the rear speakers did, by increasing the dB.

I do not belive its broken or anything like that, as i notice i can get that sound from all the other speakers if i fiddle with the inline diles of the headset.

*quick question, is it proper that if i dont have 'front' cranked up to max, and when i turn the 'rear' and 'centre' diles up above 6, that the sound becomes hollow, and even shifts in power/volume to one side of the headset?*

Thankyou,

Rob.

Reply to crazed-hobo

Certainly doesnt sound right Rob. Have you tried swapping the sub and centre channels as some customers have to do to acheive perfect sound.

Tips on how to do this on the Speed-Link and Medusa-USA websites may help you.

I'm afraid I have the same sentiments as the above poster.
No matter what I try, the rear speakers remain without any bass (I have an Audigy 2).
I tried the following :
- turn CMSS-3D off
- Turn Bass Redirection on
- put Crossover to High (200Hz)
- installed OpenAl drivers I found through a Google search
- put Bass to its maximum setting in the Surround Mixer

What I also tried was switch the front and rear jacks which go into my soundcard and then, the front was without any bass but the rears were ok.

I believe this is an issue Creative should solve since some people seem to have it working by installing Beta OpenAl drivers.
Now, the rear volume slider acts more as a treble increase than anything else ...
I wish this was funny ... :(

Movies SEEM to be working though but I'm not sure.
I hope this thread stays alive until all is well for everyone concerned.

PS : it's GREAT for Techno music though! 8)

Reply to Stargate

I got it working!
First I read about someone installing kX Project drivers and after installing the 3534 ones (full) and doing the 5.1 test, the tinniness in the rear speakers was gone, plus I also had bass in the subwoofter (which was missing too).
The problem seems to be the Creative drivers then.

I just bough the Medusa 5.1 Pro Gamer yesterday! It has a great sound in combination with my X-Fi Fatal1ty soundcard.

However, i just can't seem to find the right 'balance' in the sound.. Does anyone perhaps have any suggestions for the front/center/rear/vib numbers, that balance the sound perfectly? :P
And does anyone perhaps use the same combination of headset+soundcard as I do?

Thanks in advance.

I have the exact same pairing as you do with an X-Fi Fatality sound card and my new Medusa 5.1 Gamer Edition headset on the way. I ordered it yesterday and paid for the fastest shipping they had available so hopefully I will receive it tomorrow. I will let you know how my tests go :) please do the same with yours.

The good thing is: It doesn't need any software! :)

Reply to stinoo

Oh ok thanks, I hope I won't have any problem like most did here. I am looking better my skills on BF2 with these headsets.

Reply to Rogerdoger45

The headset is really worth the bucks you pay for it! The fact that it feels great on your ears is already a reason to get it ;) Most headsets are awfull and make your ears hurt after a gaming session.

Good sounds, feels great!

Reply to stinoo

I completely agree, this headset is THE MOST COMFORTABLE HEADSET I HAVE EVER OWNED!!

I am a crazy gamer and will go for 6 hour, non-stop, sweaty, no-break gaming sessions and afterwards my ears always felt like crap, were hot, were sweaty, and basically just felt bad with other headsets. That is nolonger a problem with these.

After a 5 hour gaming session I feel as though I have been wearing nothing. On top of that and more importantly, I have LOVED the sound from my set. I have set it up how I like it and hear the perfect amount of base and am able to tell where players are with no problems.

Don't let reports of people having 'tinny sound' or other issues effect your choice in buying these. In my opinion those people are simply too lazy to follow the directions posted on the Medusa-USA site or on this forum for how to get just the right sound from your headset. The slight difference in sound is appreciated because it really allows me to easily separate the location of players from in front of me or behind me.

The mic is excellent, I love how adjustable the boom is. It is obviously high quality material that stays exactly where you put it.

I have also found that if you enable the bass boost you can get even more base if it is important to you. I love this new headset and am very happy with the purchase.

Also I should point out that Matt from Medusa-USA was extremely helpful and friendly and has actually taken the time to participate in forums such as this to help users experience with their products. That makes this purchase even better!!

Lastly I will state that i am using an X-Fi Fatality soundcard and this Medusa Pro Gamer Edition 5.1 headset. I have not had a single problem with this set and after reading this thread and a quick look at the Medusa-USA website I easily setup my system for the perfect sound with this set.

I am happy to throw my voice in with the other satisfied customers and put future customers' minds at ease by saying with 100% confidence there is no reason not to get this headset. Excellent sound quality, excellent sound separation, excellent mic and mic recognition, and the best overall comfort I have ever found in a headset.

Cheers!!

Ok I install my Audigy2 ZS gamer and was able to get the headsets working somewhat, This is what I did in the game I setup my audio to hardware and on high, and I get surroundsound I mean I hear bullets pass in my right ear and left ear. I hear explosion great left right front , but when I hear explosion in the rear they sound real tiny. Now with the software that comes with my Soundcard I was able to tweak where music sounds great. Not sure what to do from here. I am wondering also which drivers should I install the creative ones or kX Project drivers I have done all the tweaks that has been mention here, they work much better then before but when things happen behine they sound horrble.

Thanks for all the help guys

Reply to Rogerdoger45

Hi all, i've had this headset for several months now and i've also been pretty disappointed with the tinny rear speakers. I checked here (this thread actually) ages ago, did some tweaking and gave up as no matter what I did it was just the same with my SB Live! card. I play BF2 mostly and I just lived with it. Pfft.

Recently i've upgraded to X-Fi Extreme Music and hoped things would be sorted...not so, although I do have a sub channel working now due to proper 5.1 from the X-Fi

Today i've re-read this whole thread (!) and after much tinkering and invalidating of warranty have now concluded that it IS by design (a pretty daft, unrealistic one tbh considering a truck driving by behind you won't sound tinny with no low freqs).

Unplugging the front feed from the soundcard and putting it in the rear feed on the amp box confirms to me that it has to be the amp/headphones doing this. The rear feed from the soundcard into the front feed on the amp gives perfect sound to the front speakers.

So with that I assume for now the headset's fine and the smaller size speakers won't make 'that much' difference to the sound produced. Let's have a look in the amp box...

For a start it's heavy because there's a piece of iron in there, perched on two plastic standoffs. Also worth a mention is the real reason I opened it up - poor/no connection on the front output jack and the LED not working unless wiggled. The cause of these turns out to be the copper track coming away from the board where the pins solder to them, breaking the connection. Some lengths of bell wire soldered in and everything's aok again.

Ok, now i'm not an expert - far from it..ok I can use a soldering iron, I know what a resistor does and I know one end of a rectifier diode from the other but that's about it. So this bit may be totally wrong and hopefully an electronics engineer can confirm or deny what I think.

Following the tracks from the inputs eventually leads, via the rotary volume control to some resistors, one for each signal line, before it then passes to what I believe to be amp chips. There's only one transistor and this seems to feed all 3 chips. So, here's the value on each SMD resistor for the signal lines:

Centre: 183
Sub: 153
Front Right: 183
Front Left: 183
Rear Right: 3002 (looks like 3002 anyway)
Rear Left: 3002

Now, could it be that the signal to the rear speakers is a lot less than the fronts, therefore causing a tinny sound?? Looks suspicious to me, all of the components after the resitors appear to be the same for all lines. I'd really like to change the resistors but it's beyond me and i'd prolly blow the box up!

I really like the sound from the front channels and the sub gives good bass but i'm so disappointed with the rear sound. It's just not natural..as was said earlier if you turn your back on say a crowd then the sound will get slightly quiter but it definitiely won't lose all it's bass sound!!

Does anyone here know what the Wire colors and the layout on the PCB should be? I have in a game induced rage torn the wires out of my headset when the amp got stuck on my desk. So I need to re-solder all the wires from the headset and the plugs back onto the amp. Only problem is the wires are tiny and not destinguising enought to know which are which and the PCB is not clearly labled.

Reply to SoCGHOST

Whoops.. Thats what I call getting involved with a game.

Headset and amp for which model ? and do you only need the amp fixing or the headset as well.

Matt

Reply to Medusa_USA

This is the ProGamer model with the inline amp. I dont think the unit is damaged, the wires simply are torn out. I counted its 11 wires total, thats all the leads from the pluges and the usb power. They are really small wires and it looks possible to resolder them on but, they come out different on the other end that goes to the headset itself. Thats why I needed a diagram or electirical schematic. Lets just say I get heated when I play Battlefield 2142. I didnt think I would miss them that much but, when I went back to my Sennheiser pc150's it just wasn't the same.

Reply to SoCGHOST

This sounds to me as though the glue holding the inline controller box together melted when you got so heated

Seriously though, you will be surprised just how easy this is to fix and you won't have to go through a battlefield to do it.... just send them back and I'll send you a new pair. Although not covered under warranty, as you purchased them from ourselves all it will cost you is the shipping fee.

Visit the website and complete the RMA form and I will sort it from there for you.

Hello everyone :D
i was hoping you could help me out with my medusa 5.1 progamer's headset. The volume in the right ear seems to go a bit quieter than the left after a while which is quite noticeable in games when centralised sounds like radio messages are heard on the left more than the right. This becomes a bit annoying after a while and when i tried balancing through the creative speaker setup the volume switches to the right when its not being affected  . i'm using a soundblaster audigy 4 card and i'm in the UK.
Cheers :)

Reply to SolidSPUD

Well I have that very card and I have to say that is an unusuall problem. I would suggest first to play whatever game you are having the most problems with and when you happen to notice it, try swapping out the jacks and see if the problem moves around. Or if you have another headset you could try plugging them in for this test. If the sound remains on that side than it sounds as if the headset is the culprit. IF the sound moves than you know its the card or the software thats problematic. To diagnose the card I would suggest trying it in different modes ie. stereo, 5.1 and mono, this my help determine if its a mixing problem. Possibly updated drivers would help or even using non Creative drivers. If its hardware related than the symptom should be appearent with any mode and with any headset. To go one further, if you have onboard 5.1 you could try that and see if the problem persists, since in fact the game could be causing this. I am a field hardware tech for the computer company I work for and these are the steps I would use.

Reply to SoCGHOST

Thanks, i'll give it a go and see what i come up with.

Reply to SolidSPUD

Well after extensive tinkering I have come to the conclusion that the problem's with the front right. The volume is distinctly lower than that coming from the front left which is causing the occasional balance problem. Don't know how to fix this permanently as having to ALT+TAB to desktop and adjust volume levels every few rounds isn't really going to work in the long run. Don't think i can return them now either.

Tip: When adjusting/bending headband be careful not to snap the plastic joining it to the earcup! 8O

Reply to SolidSPUD

What is the differance with the new model V2 from V1? I seem to have an issue with the v1 version that the left side sounds weaker then the right side. I figure if I RMA this I would get the V2 version.

Reply to Rogerdoger45

The only difference is that the v2 has the microphone permanent on the headset where the v1 it was detachable. As far as the levels problem, when your listening to something or in game try turning off the amp and then switch it back on. I have had a problem here and there with the balance and switching the unit off and then on usually fixes it.

Reply to SoCGHOST

When I touch the door from my PC case I get wining noise out of my headset is this normal

Reply to Rogerdoger45

I just picked up the gamer edition (v2) from medusa-usa and they sound great. i have an audigy 2 zs. After following the support page's instructions, i was able to get a good bass sound out of these cans. These headphones are of very good make and i would recommend them to anyone with a 5.1 channel card.

I went digging in the forums for an answer to the question: why doesn't the vib vol control do anything? still not sure why, think it is creatives fault and i have NO problem blaming them for their often-faulty sound drivers.

good luck to those of you with issues.

Matt,

Is there a difference in the Home Edition Medusa 5.1's and the progamers?

I have had the Home Edition 5.1's for about two months or less and they really are not what I am looking for in a gaming headset. I was expecting great things from the Medusas and my battle buddies (about 30 guys) were waiting on my feedback before purchasing them. I am thinking about going towards a Beyer DT 770s or Audio-technica ATH A500.

Thanks,

Reply to gregth

Really hoping someone can help me out.

I just bought the Pro Gamer v2's and got them yesterday, i dont know if they use the same box's or not but it doesnt say v2 on the box.

Anyways, I play a game called Americas Army and I use an audigy 4 soundcard.

Sometimes when i go to my soundcard settings and go to the bass redirection... its off? but i never TURNED it off.. it just does it somethings. Second the sound in game, if theres a smoke and i look at it, and than look away from it the sound is ALOT louder in the rear.. Maybe this is my configuration on the soundcard or the headsets im not sure.

Second for my calibration. there are times where i have to move it until it sounds like one sound is in the back... and well theres only 1 sound and when i move scroll the button over to certain places, it will make a little tingy noise.. i at first thought it wasnt me to FIND that noise.. but after calibration i would notice that tingy noise would ALWAYS be in the right ear.

EDIT: Ok Its not the 'front' speakers, its the 'center' speaker, and I just went in configuration again and when it said 'put it up until its even with the rest bla bla' thing, i put it on max and it seems to be even with the other speakers now.. i really wish the speaker wouldnt be dimmed out in the first place... but right now i guess its good as long as its working.

Medusa really is the best headsets ive seen or read about -

Matt can you email me, pm me, or maybe even just post here why these headsets are banned from CAL league? i dont know for sure if its ALL CAL or just CAL professional.

Everyone in my clan who has medusas ( about 12of them ), say I am an idiot for going with gaming because the home edition's are alot better.

The reason why they say this is because home edition has an amp box compared to the amp inside the volume controller on the gaming ones. NONE of them accually know how big the accual AMP inside the amp box or inside the controller are... so i took it into my own hands and bought gaming ones hoping that the amp box was just made big for the sole fact of being able to put the headsets on top of it.

If there is no difference between the sound quality of the headsets, than the reason its home edition and gaming edition is because the gaming edition is alot easier to carry around to LANS or other gaming events. Home editions would be more difficult taking the amp box with you.

Hopefully matt can imform us all.

Reply to DrSpraY

DrSpray,

Does your clanmates indicate what type of soundcard they are running? Also, what type of settings did they use on the 5.1 surround settings in sound card program.

How far do they have the speakers (in the program) positioned. I have mine at 3'3" on all of them with 60db on the front l/r and -120 for the rear l/r.

I just think footsteps should be heard better. The sound quality doesn't impress me at all.

Maybe matt can help us out, because I really want to give these things a chance. Hell, I could even get some guys in my group to head over to Medusa-Usa and purchase some if I could get them to sound to my liking.

Please help Matt, the FAQ SUPPORT PAGE on the website doesn't solve the issues. And tech support is international.

Reply to gregth

They wont tell me for the sole fact that it has taken some of them 2-6 months just to get the sound perfect for them. They ALL use X-fi xtrememusic... except for me i use audigy 4.

Umm im really impressed with the footsteps, Usually treble and bass all the way up is good for footsteps or atleast 75% bass. Bass redirection on with subwoofer all the way up?

My game really has improved with just these set of headsets, it really is amazing. I use to use plantronics 350, these things bring out the detail so much its rediculous. Just knowing that the persons in the area and not to do anything stupid is really a big deal, and i hope you get your headsets to your liking - I probly wont ask for a new set of headsets even though the center speaker is really dim.

btw: the first thing i did with these was what it says on the FAQS than i loaded game, threw a smoke gernade and slowly turned around and around to see how much of a difference there is in each speaker, than I talked to my leader and asked him if there was anything else i could try.

He said 'swap the front and rear jacks and it mite make a difference'.. I dont know how the headsets are set up, but when they are plugged in the front sounds come in from front speakers, than when you swap them, atleast for me, the front sound is still in front speakers. Make sure in your control panel sound and audio devices, you have that checked as 5.1 also...

idk there are so many things ive read to try to optimize your sound maybe someone should just sticky a big list :). No matter what i definitely feel these are the best 5.1 headsets out, alot of people complain "the whole house can hear whats going on!"... yet it would be ALOT worst if they were using 5.1 speakers =\.

Enjoy,

Dr.SpraY

I am planning on getting this headset due to the recommendation of a couple of my gaming buddies. I have a home theater setup that I game on. However, when the theater is in use I use my laptop. My plan is to get a Soundblaster Live External sound card for the laptop so that I can use the headset on both my home theater PC and laptop. My question is which version should I get, the Pro Gamer or Home?

I was thinking I'd get the home because of the amp box would make it easy to use it with the HTPC without having to reach around to rearrange cables. Then my plan is to use one of the cables (shown on the medusa-usa website) to convert the headphone plug to fit the 3+mic plugs on the SB Live external. Will this setup work? Will the lack of an amp on the laptop connection cause a problem? When all is said and done the laptop connection trumps the HTPC connection.

Finally, is there a better external sound card than the SB Live that you'd recommend? I'd like it to be a USB card for various reasons.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Heh, unfortunately I have nothing but bad experience (OK, one order but an expensive one) about Matt and his previous company. Here in the UK we have laws passed a while ago increasing the rights of consumers when making long distance purchases. Matt here apparently decided that they don't apply to him so and hence I threatened to take him to court as Trading Standards said I had a case. Matt then decided to ignore me as he was soon to sell his previous company and take up running Medusa USA. Shame on him. How's that for great customer service?

Ok guys.. I've been messing with this for all of about 2 hours.. so please excuse me if it turns out that I'm full of crap.. LOL

I have an x-fi.. I just got my pro-gamer headset.. took me an hour to get it to work at all.. and another hour to figure out the crappy rear and center bass problem.

Tested ONLY with BF2 so far, here are my settings:

Latest X-Fi drivers
CMSS-3d = on
CMSS-3d settings = Stereo Xpand, Auto, and dial all the way up to "front"
24-bit Crystalizer = on settngs adjusted to taste. (about default on mine)
Speakers=6.1
Bass=150Hz
Gain=ON
Redirection =ON
Subwoofer Level = 77%
All speakers = small
Everything else is default on the creative panel(s).

Next open your windows volume control. Click on advanced, and raise the bass to about 80%

Then set system volume to about 45%

Adjustments to the in-line amp:
Set all volume adjustments to 3, and the Vib control to 5.

In BF2 set the sound card to X-Fi, and the settings to High. (Ultra high was reded out for me for some reason)

You have now exactly duplicated my setup. I hope it works for you as well as it has for me.

One note on bass: By turning up the "vib vol" on the amp, you're over-powering the head set. Keep that as low as you can, and boost the bass on the PC 1st via the windows volume control. With Audio stuff, it's never a good idea to max out any one componant.

PLEASE let me know if this worked for any of you..

I am currently using the Medusa 5.1 Classic which I purchased a fair while back (just after the review on this site) and haven't had any problems. Just recently, not sure how but I'm guessing due to misuse, one of the plastic parts on the sides has started to split, but a bit of super glue has done the job. Anyway that's not the point of this comment, I am thinking of getting a new pair of medusa's soon, since I will not suffice for anything less than 5.1, since I know what a decent 5.1 headset is like. It will either be the "Medusa 5.1 Home Edition" or "Medusa 5.1 ProGamer Edition V2", but I am leaning towards the Home Edition due to what I think would be a better quality build and amp etc. Is anyone able to confirm that the ProGamer edition is not as good due to reductions for portability.

Thanks in advance, Eddie.

Alright, I have a problem with my Medusa Pro Gamer v1 edition headset. I'm using an X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card.

Without bass redirection on I get absolutely no sound coming from my front left channel. I'm testing this under the game mode screen in the Creative software. When I turn bass redirection on and set the crossover frequency all the way to the right at 200Hz, I then test the front left channel. I hear the "front left" voice very faint and muffled, but it appears to be coming at a centered position, because I can barely hear it coming from the right side as well. When I switch the front and rear jacks to the sound card the exact same thing happens to the rear left channel.

I've tested this with 2 different X-Fi sound cards with the same results. If this is a problem with the headset are these still not under warranty? I bought this headset last Sept from the medusa usa site. I tried to fill out an RMA about a month or so ago, but the response I got was to contact Speedlink support. I think they were just passing the buck on to someone else.

These were pretty expensive headphones and I just want them to function correctly. If anyone could offer any help I would be greatly appreciative.

Hi there

Firstly, I'd like to say I'm no PC Guru, and I can only comment on my own experiences/experimentation, but somehow, I've managed to get my Medusa 8790 Headset & Amp to provide decent Bass in the Front Centre & Rear Speakers, using a Creative Soundblaster Xtreme Music Soundcard in 5.1 mode.....

Unbelievable, but true

It's took nearly 2 weeks of real Pain-In-The-Ass messing about with my system, but I'm glad to say, when I play Battlefield 2 now, I experience some stunning and mind-blowing, (literally), sound effects

Yes, like a lot of people, when I initially installed & hooked-up/connected my new X-Fi Soundcard and Medusa 8790 Heaset, I also experienced the tinny, non-realistic, Bass re-production in the Front Centre and Rear Speakers, which I confirmed with the Battlefield 2 'Grenade Test', as mentioned in previous posts

I subsequently searched endless forums and Creative support pages trying to find a solution to this silly, but niggling problem

I've tried most of the solutions - full, current driver updates, beta soundcard drivers, KX project drivers, swapping front/rear speaker jacks, re-direction of the Subwoofer, un-installing & re-installing the soundcard etc, etc, etc - all to little or no effect - except to really screw up my initial installation of my X-Fi soundcard, resulting in innumerable roll-backs and system restores

Then, lo-and-behold, after my nth complete re-install of my X-Fi soundcard & software, I was reconfiguring my Audio preferences in the Creative Console Launcher/THX window and I noticed that my Bass reproduction in the Front Centre and Rear Speakers was drastically improved. I eagerly booted-up Battlefield 2, performed the Grenade Test and yes, genuine Blasting Bass in the aforementioned speakers

Whoop De Fu@king Doo!

So, what's the solution then?

As I mentioned previously, I can only comment on my own experiences/experimentation/system - what has worked for me may not work for you - it may screw up your system as much as mine - so proceed at your own risk

Here's what I did on my last re-install, (make sure you create a restore point before any major system change/uninstall)

1 - Removed all Creative Soundcard drivers via Add/Remove Programs
2 - Uninstalled the X-Fi Xtreme Music card via Device Manager
3 - Booted into Safe mode and used Driver Cleaner on Creative Audio and Creative Audio Lite settings Drivercleaner.net
4 - Deleted the Creative folder while still in Safe Mode (C:/Program files/Creative)
5 - Turned off my PC (i.e. Powered Down)

Now, the following operation is the important part and is the only thing I did differently to my initial installation

6 - I made sure that the Medusa Headset, Amp Box, Mirophone Jack and Audio Jacks were fully set up, connected to each other and the Amp Box was switched on

7 - VERY IMPORTANT - I DISCONNECTED THE MICROPHONE AND AUDIO JACKS FROM MY SOUNDCARD, (i.e. the Red, Green, Black and Yellow Jacks that plug into the rear of my sondcard)

8 - I then Powered up my PC and re-installed the soundcard drivers using the original installation CD

9 - After another re-boot, (I think), I came to the X-Fi intro screen and set-up options - this is where the set-up program asked me to insert the appropriate speaker cables/audio jacks (Red=Microphone, Green=Front L/R Speakers, Black=Rear L/R speakers and Yellow=Centre/Subwoofer)

10 - This is the trick - you require 'power' in the Medusa Amp Box and hence in the 8790 Headset for the Headset speakers/mike to 'register' properly with the soundcard - I'm probably wrong, but it's the only major difference from my original installation

11 - Voila - I had literally stumbled upon the solution, (for my system anyway) - I was absolutely gob-smacked when the Bass started working correctly

I would like to test this theory/procedure again just to be sure, but I'm really loathe to upset my already delicate soundcard/system again - I don't want to lose my precious Bass.....

Apologies for the long post, but I'm trying to be as thorough as possible
(This 'fix' has cost me nearly 20 hours of re-booting and re-jigging my PC)

So, please feel free to try my method above, but as I said, you proceed at your own risk and I will not be held responsible for any problems or crashes you may incur

Best of luck and I hope it works for you - Please post back with any good/bad results - I'll try to help if I can, (no promises)

Got to go - I'm off to catch up on my Battlefield 2 Surround Sound experience - this Headset is seriously cool (now)
