Yeah, but is it fun? Wii is fun according to folks I know who own them. Whats the point of a game, fun, or eyecandy? How much fun is PS3? I see people drooling over its graphics, but no one jumping up and down about how much fun it is.
Don't say that the Killzone trailer at E3 05' is fake. All this crap you hear on the net, is because people has misundertood the Blur company comments. By the way, Guerilla Games has said that the trailer was using ingame graphics. And Sony states that they have in some way, exceeded the trailer graphics.
Of course the trailer was pre-rendered. They didn't have the time to make it "playable", like at last TGS. So therefore they showed a pre-rendered trailer with the graphics etc.

Bingo. And if you want raw power, you MUST go with a PC. To not do so is insanity (I don't care what you say, a modern PC will eat PS3 for breakfast in the raw power game).
So, I still don't see the point of PS3.
That is a point of view. I don't see the fun wavering my arms and legs around like a retarded man. But I see the fun in the gameplay and story in normal games. Try put in the epic story of MGS:Snake Eater in one of those bowling games lol.

Dude, pre-rendered = vaporware. I didn't say it was fake, I said it was vaporware.
Plus, Sony has been promising a LOT of things. They promised that the PS3 was going to be the greatest thing ever, and that it would take over PCs. They said that the Rootkit didn't matter (and then shelled out a bunch of cash to fix it). They said that they made good batteries (which promptly exploded, and they even knew that there was a production problem, but waited to see how it would turn out). So don't tell me about their BS promises about how great it's going to be and how much better it is than the trailer.
Games like Crysis have me excited because I've actually seen playable demos rendered in real-time (how progressive of the Crysis team!). Plus, those developers have shown that they deliver killer products (Um, CryEngine Sandbox). What has Sony shown? That they can over-promise and under-deliver. So please, don't use that as an argument.
You don't have to wave around like a madman. You can simply use subtle movements to move the Wiimote. People just get carried away cause they're having, *gasp* FUN.
PS3 has the nice graphics, and Blu-ray, but how many fun games are there NOW. Not coming for it, or will be available soon...but NOW. Why would someone spend $600 or more for a system that will play a game that might be released in a few months? That's crazy.
I don't care if someone wants a PS3, Wii, XBox 360, or 2 new 8800GTX cards. It's their money. I do care when someone spouts out statements like - "It rules all, cause the graphics are great!", yet the game they say the graphics are great, sucks in gameplay.
I've said it before - The gameplay means more to me (and I'm not alone) than just great eye candy. I would rather play the goofy Wii Sports games cause they are fun, than Resistence: Fall of Man on the PS3. And that's the truth.
I'm sorry to dissapoint you, PS3 has the most powerful commercial CPU in the world. RSX is like 7900 GTX x 2 (though it's special made, and no specific details has been given, but this is the approx. power)
Also remember that consoles are different af PC's. If you want better performance of a computer, you buy new hardware. If you wan't better performance out of a PS3, you tweak and research the PS3. PS3 (and PS2 and PS1 and all other consoles) is way more flexible than normal hardware. That's why you don't wan't too look at the PS3 games of today, because first of all, they started developing them like 2-4 yeas ago, with NO idea of really how powerful the PS3 will be. And as said before, look in a year or to, then he PS3 will begin show it's real powers..
Quote : That is a point of view. I don't see the fun wavering my arms and legs around like a retarded man. But I see the fun in the gameplay and story in normal games. Try put in the epic story of MGS:Snake Eater in one of those bowling games lol.
If that's what you're looking for in your gaming experience, whatever.
Not everybody in the world likes the idea of getting fat while sitting at our TVs with drool coming out of our mouths (while our brains of course are reading next to no activity). Some people want to "get in to the game" and jump around. I've heard people saying that you "can't help but start swinging like a tennis racket when you're playing tennis". That sounds like fun. If I want to sit and watch the screen without moving, I would buy a PC (which rocks the sh1t of PS3 anyway).
Once again, I fail to see your point sir.
Quote : They said that they made good batteries (which promptly exploded, and they even knew that there was a production problem, but waited to see how it would turn out).
Cmon now, dont spread FUD. We all know exploding laptops had nothing to do with Lion batteries....It was overheating Intel processors...Sharikou said so.

Can we get a "friggin' a" for this man?
Seriously, how long does eye candy allow you to play a game? When I get a new game for the PC that is "all eye-candy" I'm like "oooohhhh... aahhhhhh..." for 5 minutes, then I put the game down (never to be played again).
I have to agree with you. The gameplay and story of a game is the most important. But the reason why I look a graphics as I do, is because I work with graphics.
But don't say PS or any other normal game can be fun, look at Tekken 5, hell I've spent many hours with my friends having FUN. And that's only one example.

What do you tweak exactly? Are you seriously claiming that the PS3 can get better performance from a tweak? Now I know you're full of it. You are either a viral marketer or a blind fanboy.
This entire statement makes no sense. How can they develop games for something that wasn't even running yet? You're claiming that the games were developed 2-4 years ago, before the PS3 hardware was available, let alone the CELL processor?!?
You are now in the world of FUD, please take a left and enter reality again.

Where did I say that any normal game can't be fun?
You are claiming that the PS3 is better cause it has better graphics. I said no, only cause graphics can only go so far, and if the gameplay sucks, the game will suck too. You are saying to wait for titles like Killzone and MGS:Snake Eater to appear, but WHY? Why should anyone buy a console for the price it's listed for a game to appear months later? The Wii arrived with a launch title that was one of the "must buys", what was a "must buy" for the PS3?
Also, add to the fact that the Wii was sold with Wii Sports included, something that you didn't see in years - a game that came included with a console. So, even if you didn't have the $50-60 bucks for another game, you already had one.
If you want to say a console is all about graphics, then you can. I say it's about gameplay - in any format (console or PC) that will beat out graphics anyday.

You are sadly mistaken. I hate to do this, but check out the specs on the RSX:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSX_% [...] hesizer%27
It's not even as nice as the G70, and it REALLY gets killed by the G80. In terms of raw power I believe it's about the same as a 7800GTX. I think this about sums things up:
Quote : NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang stated during Sony's pre-show press conference at E3 2005 that the RSX will be more powerful than two GeForce 6800 Ultra video cards combined.
Wow, 2 6800 Ultra's????? NO WAY!

And there is the root of the issue. If the game is not fun, all the "techno" trickery in the world will not help it.
First of all, MGS: Snake Eater is released in the year of 2005.
I don't state that you said normal games can't be fun, but I think you strongly mean that normal games aren't that fun. I you don't want to wait for the good titles to come, then why not wait alittle more time instead of buying it right now? Games bundled isn't new. It's new that the manufactor as a standard bundled a game. I have many examples of stores selling PlayStations bundled with a game or more. Again, the graphics-gameplay battle is a point of view. Hell, all my games play PC because "they have better graphics".

Oh, and one other thing: the Metal Gear franchise has been steadily decreasing in it's appeal. The games have gotten less and less fun (the last one I liked was Metal Gear Solid for PS1). I wouldn't count on that franchise to save Sony.

lol, how much is sony paying you to be such an obvious and frankly pathetic troll. ye, the RSX is like sli'd 7900gtx
try a crap 7800gt.
still fun watching you fail miserably to counter more logical and fact filled arguments.
As I said, it hasn't been stated that the RSX is as good as this and that. The only thing we know is that is runs 550 MHz and blah blah, but we can't use such spec, when the card is custom made. Yes the RSX is based on G70, based not the same as a normal G70. And as its says on wikipedia:
This article or section does not cite its references or sources.
By the way RSX is flexible. And if you think i am lying, we try this:
Tell me the best visual og complex PS2 game you know.

Couldn't tell you...
BUT the best PS2 game I've play so far was Guitar Hero/Guitar Hero II, and believe me, those graphics aren't state of the art or top of the line, but you know what...the game is damn FUN.
Quote : lol, how much is sony paying you to be such an obvious and frankly pathetic troll. ye, the RSX is like sli'd 7900gtx
With all of Sony's deception lately I wouldn't actually be surprised if he worked for their marketing department. It wouldn't be the first time they have done this.
I would be appalled, but not surprised. And yeah, I already shot down the 7900GTX x2 comment. That 128-bit memory bus width is a real screamer!
Sorry, but I have a counter attack up further.
Ok, here's a in-game picture of MGS: Snake Eater (remeber that it's almost 2 year old):
Ok, now guess the total RAM count a PS2 have. Don't cheat.
Sorry, the MGS 3 and 2 is both a huge succes, and both of them has a "sequel" a newer update of the game, like online play and more training missions. And MGS 4 is one of the most anticipated games.

Dude, you just won't quit! Just search for more information on it! Nobody (not even nVidia) disputes these claims.
Anyway, I can't really think of the best games I have seen on PS2 (mine died on me and it's been a while since I played it). I liked FF10 though, and Onimusha was good. What's your point again? Oh, wait, you don't have one!

Lemme solve the debate for ya. This time next year, If blu ray catches on as "the" format, internal drives will be cheap. My PC upgraded with a cheap (by that time) blu ray and ATI/Nvidia XXX graphics card will smoke your PS3. Not that the ATI X1900 on my E6600 doesnt do that right now. Will you be dreaming of PS4?
This is not bragging or a my dicks bigger...its a point. PS3s graphics are static. Fun is whats important. Wii,Xbox and PC all have fun games right now. All with varying quality graphics. If all you have to bank on is graphics, its a poor investment as graphics are not stagnant nor will they be for a long time.
If you see, Lair has aproxx. the same quality of graphics and complexity. It has been shown realtime. Just wait and see with Killzone 2...
Yes, Sony has promished much. And some of it is BS yes. But sometimes people are so stupid and arrogant. They did not promise a spring launch but was trying to get it. What had people been thinking of? Before you release a console, you ahve to release price and many many more things. And it's impossible to make all that within some few months. MS isn't all that better, they promised HD-DVD, what do they got now DVD lol. And they stated that they would not make a HD-DVD add on. But what have they now... A MS is always downplaying Sony, just to make them look like satan himself.
Okay? So....what is your point?
I never said that nice graphics equals bad game. I said a game can't be only about graphics. MGS is all about sneaking and stealth. It has nice graphics, and the gameplay is supposedly good (I never played any of them).
Again, what is your point?
MGS4: Guns of the Patriots or whatever it's called, is a highly anticapted game for the PS3, and I'm sure Sony hopes it arrives sooner than later, since it might be the only exclusive game (if it remains an exclusive title) that will help the PS3.
I really don't understand what you're trying to prove here. That the PS3 graphics will help make the system, or that the PS3 is (fill in the blank)?!?
Please read all the post on the page before this before commenting please.
Games, music, and *cough*girls*cough* are free on my PC. Top that with a PS3
I definatly have a point.
But no one seems to make a bet..
HOW MUCH RAM DOES A PS2 HAVE IN TOTAL???
I'm not playing your moronic game, dude. As I recall the PS2 has like 48mb of RAM or something like that with a 233mhz CPU. Big deal. I'm bringing facts to the table, and you're bringing some sort of BS trivia game.
Quote : Graphics-wise the 360’s Xenos GPU and the PS3’s RSX are fairly different in implementation, but may end up being very similar in performance. Treating Xenos as a 24-pipe R420, it could be quite competitive with a 24-pipe RSX despite a lower clock speed. The unified shader architecture of the Xenos GPU will offer an advantage in the majority of games today where we aren’t very geometry limited. The free 4X AA support offered by Xenos is also extremely useful in a console, especially when hooked up to a large TV.

Sorry, but unless you can actually prove that MS stated any of those things, you're making it up.
As for Sony's launch...they announced the launch dates, not anyone else. Production issues caused them to delay release. And even at release, they didn't have the estimated numbers that they claimed to have. And this didn't happen in a few months, but over a year. PS3 was announced at E3 2005.
Quote : Sony officially unveiled the PlayStation 3 to the public on May 16, 2005 during an E3 conference.
So, no...they had a year or so to figure out pricing, release dates, etc.
Actually PS3 has internet browser and possibility of having Linux installed plus the we have already seen the first step of playing burned games on next-gen consoles, and by the way real people buy games instead of being such derks downloading everything they see stating that you just won't pay those silly few dollars, because you wan't everything on this whole planet for free. You are the enemy of interactive media in all aspects.[/b]
I would recommended a intel e6400 since they seem to be the best budget/performance. Great overclock too!!!
Im not sure what CPU the ps3 has though... you prolly cant overclock it though, if thats important...
Thats all I have to say about the cpu related stuff.
Catch up. Sony said that they maybe could make a spring 05' launch, but they couldnt because of manufactory problems. And in fact, the problems was the Blue-ray pirate protection, having nothing to do with their console. Later, in 06' they met more problems beacuse of the blue-ray heads. Again, not really nothing to do with PS3 own personal hardware.

At this point you really must be kidding, right? Please tell me you are just getting us all hyped up for a laugh! This is so stupid!
This is what you look like:
"Yeah, sure, the Nintendo release was delayed for more than a year. But it was just because of that pesky child labor lawsuit in a 3rd-world country. I mean, who cares if a couple kids died? Is that Nintendo's fault that they had issues? (oh wait, maybe it is... oops). Anyway, after that there was the little issue where they couldn't produce any hardware. Is that their fault? No! (well, I guess that is too). And so what if they mislead everybody?!?! IS THAT their fault? Hell no! (Oh, wait, err... crap)"
First of all, then have I said something like this?: "oh yeah? what's your favorite color? See, PS3 pwns you!"
I'm not a PS3 fanboy acting like a child trowing mud on you.
The PS2 has the total of 32 MB RAM. It tells you how much the PS2 can be tweaked and be used "better". 4 of the MB is dedicated for sound. Hell, with 32 MB RAM in a PC you can't even run Window XP. And the CPU has almost 300 MHz, again, thats in fact amazing that PS2 can run games like this.
Erhm... :?
It is really the blue-ray diodes which is the problem. But now they have solved the problem, and it fits with that we begin to see more PS3's.
I asked my local store some time ago, if he sold any blue-ray players, but he said no, because again, they had problems with agreeing to the copy-protection.
Quote : Catch up. Sony said that they maybe could make a spring 05' launch, but they couldnt because of manufactory problems.
No, since the MAY E3 2005 announcement of the PS3 would mean that it was going to be released before they announced it? Right.
Quote : And in fact, the problems was the Blue-ray pirate protection, having nothing to do with their console.
No, it wasn't the Blu-ray issues alone, it was the CELL processor. It's a known item that the CELL was not binning out the quality of processors needed for the PS3.
Quote : Later, in 06' they met more problems beacuse of the blue-ray heads. Again, not really nothing to do with PS3 own personal hardware.
Wrong again. It wasn't blu-ray heads, but the blue laser in the drive. And yes, as soon as Sony made the blu-ray part of the PS3, it was the PS3 personal hardware problems. I don't see how you can say it had nothing to do with the PS3 own personal hardware...that's insane. That's like saying that a camera lens is bad, but it has nothing to do with the picture storage section of the camera.
Quote : No, it wasn't the Blu-ray issues alone, it was the CELL processor. It's a known item that the CELL was not binning out the quality of processors needed for the PS3.
And apparently they still have some issues, because I have heard reports of PS3s overheating and dying.

Sony really didnt have no change in the plans for a march release. But the blue-ray problems got in their way.

Yes, they actually promised an HD-DVD add-on. And yes they have an HD-DVD add-on.
But you see, first MS said the 360 would have a 360 with HD-DVD as standard. But then they didnt include it anyways. Then they state that there will be no HD-DVD add-on. But now when looking closer at the benefits, the make a add-on. So, if you want to play future games, you have to buy this add-on, making it a little problem for those who already own the 360.

Oh but I could if I wanted. But I don't want to search the massive archive of www.news4gamers.com
Could you just shut up please? Everything you say is wrong. And most of it isn't even based in reality. You don't find any links or any real facts to back your stuff up because they don't exist. Go and buy a PS3. I don't care.
i would like to point out one thing about the PS2. it plays games at a res of about 480i or something similar. when was the last time a pc game in the last few years had a similar res. you are going back to the original C&C for that(possible exaggeration) my point is you do not compare apples to apples.
also you are speaking out of your rear end about most stuff here and are being shot to pieces by others, give up while your behind.
Sorry, spring launch 2006. And then it was delayed to november.
It was the blue-ray diodes wich was the factory problem. There have been so many rumors and statement that it was the Cell's fault but that was just air.
The blue-ray diodes make the blue laser, there, the core of the problem is the diode.
I'm sad that the discussion ended so hateful. I would love to show you links, but I don't save all news I get from www.news4gamers.com because there is around 3-7 news each day average.
I havn't heard anythin of PS3 overheating problems, only with Xbox 360.
