Last message on previous page: They have already shown that the "exclusive" DX10 effects in Crysis can be enabled in Crysis running on 32 bit Windows XP.
I would think that with that enabled, along with some game configuration tweaking you will get better performance with the game than you would with one running Vista.
I just help my nephew build this system and it runs the game at high settings without any problems. Plus this was a very reasonable price system to build.
Specs:
Vista 32 bit
AMD Athlon 64 6000+ X2 processor (3.0 GHz)
Themaltake TMG 1A heatsink

250GB Western Digital hard drive
Pioneer DVD/CD 18x drive
BFG 8800 GT 512mb video card

I just got done playing the full demo of crysis and am very pleased by my systems performance. I'm currently running an AMD 3500+ overclocked from 2.2 to 2.64, 2x512 pc3200 ram, evga 8800GT superclocked 512mb, and a single old seagate IDE hard drive. It did take awhile for the maps to load and once in the game I was getting a solid 30 frames per second on FRAPS. The settings were all on medium, AA 4x and resolution at 1680x1050. I was very pleased with my systems performance considering the old hardware besides the gpu.
Mooneyx I dont understand how you are getting such smooth performance on your nephews pc with the same card. If you really are able to play it at those settings it must be due to the way faster processor and more/faster ram.
The RAM definitley plays a big part I could tell as every 30-45 seconds my FPS would drop down to 10 for a split second and I figure that is due to lack of memory and dumping on to hard disk so much.
Other than that I see no reason that a big dual core like 6000/6400+ or E6600/6750 or smaller quad cores and two video cards in SLI or crossfire, plus 2 fast gigs of ram would just play this game at the best settings.
Personnally I hate how you loose so much performance on Vista so I would suggest to anyone give it a few more months until they get the drivers worked out and come out with patches and this game will run much better on everyones system. At the same time I do think the time to upgrade to vista is now.... even with the decrease in sys performance.
Hughyhunter - we're running Crysis at 1366 X 768 WXGA on a Vizio 32" LCD and the drive is an sata and the card is using the latest nvidia drivers. I didn't overclock anything and so far it's running smooth. I'll get the fps tomorrow. I did have to change the timing on the memory because the OCZ needs 2.1 volts and the Asus board can only go to 1.95.
