I figure it's time for me to weigh in, especially since Ben wants to do a video on this very subject.

Fallout 3 -- I loved Fallout, but the combat system sucked. From what I've seen of Fallout 3 so far, combat won't be a problem.

StarCraft II -- probably tied with the above title for tops on my list. Looking forward to some good RTS gameplay, but I also can't wait to see where the story goes and what the Queen of Blades will do next.

Alan Wake -- because I need something different, and this one looks like the kind of creepy, atmospheric story-driven thriller I can enjoy (though it's Vista only, guys, so get ready).

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed -- because I always wanted to be a badass and wreak havoc with the Force. Yeah, I know it sucks that there's no PC version, but that's the new reality, I suppose.

Brutal Legend -- because you can't get more original than throwing Jack Black, Lemmy Kilmister, Rob Halford and Ronnie James Dio into a game about a heavy metal roadie fighting demons in a Nordic fantasy world. In Tim Schafer I trust...

Zero percent chance Resident Evil 5 comes out this year, by the way. And I have extreme doubts about Spore hitting the mark as well.

I agree with that one. I received Quake 4 and Lost Planet for Christmas (along with Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Forza 2 with my XB bundle) and I haven't even played them yet... :(

Speaking of The Force Unleashed, I bet that game will kick much gonads on the Wii using the lightsaber attachment ;)

I think chances of Alan Wake for PC making it this year are very slim as well. So for this year I can stick to XP gaming :)

I sense much anger and lower than expected sales numbers for the Vista only part! Although, I bet there will be a hack / patch to make it work on XP. :p

My first post in a long time.. nice topic

PC Games

1.Warhammer 40K Soul Storm
2. Duke Nuke'em 4ever ... now I know it will never come out, but for the love of god, back in the day I assembled a netware network just so me and my loser buddies could play 4 way co-op and deathmatch. So I have to keep the hope alive. I would also be happy if someone did a remake of the original Blood (based off the Duke 3D build engine).
3. Star Craft 2
4. The new Fallout game from Bethesda

I should note, if reviews are favorable I will buy every game not download it ..... if reviews suck well take a guess on my purchase choice.

Console Gaming
1.New Mario Kart ... (Yep I am a hard core gamer connecting back to my nintendo roots with a Wii lame I know but for me and the kids)
2.Buy a 360 with an extended warranty after a new price drop.
3.Play Halo 3 finally

Minor Soap box on game downloading.....

I know companies whine about downloaded games ... but I used to literally buy 8 to 12 PC games each year. After getting burned a few times (Rainbow 6 Vegas and its F'ed up lack of good multiplay, MOO3, Total Ahnihilation the fantasy version just to name a few) I limite my purchases to games which are well reviewed and that I can try out. IF I like the game or I know immediately I want to play multiplay online I buy it (Like TF2 and CoD IV I was one of the 86K whom bought it)

Anyway ....

Valve liked it enough to buy the company. Here's hoping for another Portal quality experience.

Based on Valve's track record, and the fact that multiplayer is a big factor, I can't imagine buying this on anything but the PC.

Oh man. I completely forget about Left4Dead... if you play Zombie mod on CS:S then I'm sure you'll be looking forward to this title. I need to add this to my list. :D

i think I'm honestly looking forward to spore. It most assuredly will be the biggest time-waster out there, considering it's nickname is "Sim Everything"

Assassin's Creed for PC has me a little interested as well, as i have not played it on the Console, and I used to LOVE the original "Thief" despite is's graphics being somewhat dated when it was released.

IIRC, there was some Title that was vaguely related to the Starsiege: Tribes universe that even had some Garage Games Involvement. That got me so interested (I'm an original Tribes Fanatic) that I forgot what the title was supposed to be!

...and finally, I would be looking forward to a new, innovative MMO, but I have not seen any on the horizon lately. Guildwars has the Art, WoW has the story and playability, but i havent seen a really good user-based craft/merchandise system since good ol' UO. I've played a little DaoC, Anarchy Online, Ragnorok Online, PristonTale, Guildwars, among others, and I have to say, I really never saw a rich enough atmosphere where the player community met the game world in such a fashion that the graphics and versatility wern't limiting factors. I think something that can wrangle those together properly would be my most anticipated game...ever.

I liked the crafting system in EQ2. It was more interactive, which makes you actually excited about what you craft. With WoW it doesn't matter unless it's purple. :p (At least that's how I felt when I used to craft - I was into BT, Kharazan, etc. though... so maybe my opinion is biased) Anyways, I'd like to see an MMO that breaks the mold. Let's break out of the fantasy genre already! Let's try some Fallout / Post-apocalyptic stuff. (Starcraft would be the bomb-digity though :D :sol:)

Far Cry 2
Project Origin
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky
Borderlands
Cryostasis
Fallout 3
Left 4 Dead

FC2 slightly less since multiplat announcement though :( Hopefully it doesn't matter.

And by far the most intriguing titles I'm keeping an eye on?
Precursors and White Gold: War in Paradise
Sandbox to the extreme!!! :)

Far Cry 2 (looks like it's got some potential)
Alan Wake (tough decision here if it's Vista only :pfff: )
Battlefield 3 (hoping maybe they'll go back to WWll...Frostbite Engine looks nice :sol: )

And probably some other games that I just can't think of right now......

Just like to add that alan wake had a 20 second clip make it on german television last week. Something about the future of gaming on xp and vista (xp is fine now, you'll be needing vista in the future sometime).

I think we'll see alan wake this year, maybe before june, its got microsoft behind it and they wont want to see something reside in development for forever and a day, plus it might be the first dx10 only title, so they'll wanna get that vista poster child out asap.

GTA IV - big time. The last two GTA games are easily the most fun I've had gaming. Maybe t hat makes me a psycho?
Alan Wake
Spore
Baldur's Gate III - Ok, that's just a fantasy.

Top of my list for this year:

Spore
Warhammer Online
GTA IV

And I'll probably pick up the WoW expansion, too, if it comes out this year.

Ah, yes, if GTA 4 gets ported to the PC, I'd definitely go for that; San Andreas on the PC has been loads and loads of fun for me.

And if we get into ports, I might take a stab at the PC version of Assassins' Creed, or if it comes out, definitely Mass Effect.

A few really good games arriving.

SOASEmpire, Age of Conan, Starcraft2 (sadly I will be jumping on the bandwagon for Starcraft).

1. Fallout 3
2. Starcraft 2

I'm also interested in Alan Wake, and HL2:EP3, gotta stop being lazy and get through the parts of HL I've missed though before I get that one.

EDIT: Oops got the link off the front page and didn't notice that it was in the PC Gaming forum which was the reason for my short lived 3rd place for Ninja Gaiden 2 (it is my number 3 game for this year though).

Very excited about Assassin's Creed. I've seen the Console reviews and I'm dying to play it.

And I always knew I was going to buy a new PC when SPORE came out. I put together my new build last week... lets hope that when SPORE does finally come out it still meets the requirements!

Alan Wake is going to be too much for your 8600. You might be able to pull it off with Fallout 3 but even then...I wouldn't count on it.

I have really been looking forward to DMC4 on PC. I loved the DMC series on PS2 and since I didn't have a PS3 and no plans to buy one I thought I was gona miss out out on DMC4. Then I found out it was going multi platform and even to PC and that was great news esspecially since I just built a new PC.

As far as online games I would have to say both WAR and AoC. Ever since the new aww factor of TBC wore off, which didn't take long, a month after it's release for me, WoW just feels old and stale and it's getting worse. So I am pumped for something fresh and WAR looks awsome with it's large scale world pvp focus which is everything I hoped WoW was going to be but BGs killed that. AoC looks like it has some great potential with the so called real combat system and many other features but I think WAR will be the one that gets me hooked. I will problay try them both and then make the decision in which one I want to focus my free time.

Me its about the same as everybody else. Mainly HL2 Episode 3 since the end of the other one has me curious as to how they will end HL2. And the next step of Portal since its tied in with HL2 now.

GTA IV since I loved liberty city now if only we could play as the GTA III guy aka "Claude" in GTA SA who you race and date his G/F who betrays him in the neginning of GTA III. I like dhim the best as he never spoke and never was allied to anyone.

Spore cuz I wannna nuke some random creatures and screw with other planets life. Being able to take one creature and transport him to a random planet sounds fun. Also an idea here but how about cow like creature bombing? Pick one up and drop them on an unsuspecting civ for fun.

Far Cry 2 just to see if it 1 ups Crysis. Would be funny really.

Oh and TF2 updates. It may not be a new game but the more stuff to it the merrier I will be while mowing down noobs.

Thats about it. The rest will come and I may play them until the are unplayable.

Thought of one randomly. If it ever comes out(and I pray it does as the series kicked ass) Max Payne 3. I miss doing bullet time and getting randomly filled with bullets while killing mobs and never feeling it and watching a sad story about a guy who lost everything get revenge. WE WANT MAX PAYNE 3 NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought of another one. Lego Batman. Love the Lego series as the Star Wars ones were fun.

This looks great but it looks as if it will use Ageia PhysX which I am not a large fan of. I prefer HavoK over Ageia. Anyone remember Panikiller and the stake gun? Oh the fun times. But it looks good. Only thing is it looks like more of a console style game.

Can't wait for Grand Theft Auto 4 to get announced for PC, I can deal with San Andreas until then I suppose. At least I can crank all the settings on high with my new system lol

Also planning on getting back into WoW and preparing for WotLK. Splinter Cell has always been one of my favorite franchises, so can't wait to see how Conviction turns out. Not sure what else is coming, just been planning to catch up on the stuff that I've missed out on the past bunch of years like HL2 lol

Actually NVidia has Ageia and Intel has HavoK as Intel bought them a while ago. What I mean Is that I don't want another expansion card for physics when a multi core CPU such as my Q6600 will do the same job easily especially when OC'ed to 3GHz.

NVidia only bought Ageia since they know Intel has Havok and Intel is going to be releasing their own discrete GPU codenamed Larabee which is stated to have the speeds of a CPU and multi cored thus providing onboard Physics. And Intel already worked with Havok and Valve to provide pysic calculations on multi-core CPUs.

Game looks good but still have to see the story line.

I dunno if Intel owns Havok so I'll have to look into that. I do know that Havok is a licensed Intel developer though and wasn't saying that Nvidia owns any part of Havok, just that they've buddied up quite nicely recently. Actually Havok is kind of a tech slut, they've been gettin' jiggy with all the big companies.

Also now that Nvidia owns Ageia things might be different in the physics department, so maybe Ageia will be a good thing for Bionic Commando. You're right too, it does look a little more like a console game however I prefer to play any game with a reticle site with a mouse. Just by the looks of it though it should be fun either way.
